At times, I think the Food Network is such a tease - youre sitting in front of the television watching these amazing chefs prepare some of the most delectable dinner courses, while all you have in the fridge/pantry is some bread, cheese, and butter, and all you can make is your specialty grilled cheese (luckily, Ive become a pro). Going to Seven Stars is a similar feeling. You walk in to the sweet smell of pastries and the inviting aroma of coffee. There are so many tasty options you have trouble choosing. Cream cheese danish or blueberry turnover? Forget it, Ill take both. Seven Stars is where I wish I could spend my entire day (and my days entire caloric value). The pastries are delicious and there is so much variety. Ive had quite a few and my favorites are the chocolate croissant, cream cheese danish, sticky bun, and blueberry turnover. Their iced coffee is also really good and perfectly strong. The ice cubes in the iced coffee are even made out of real coffee so your drink doesnt get watered down (so clever!). Everything is pretty decently priced which makes for a pretty cheap breakfast or mid-afternoon pick-me-up. The atmosphere is also great - a perfect place to relax and unwind and also a great place to meet friends. The outside patio is really nice (especially when its not too cold outside). Just make sure you avoid the macaroon case at all costs - its so dangerous. Its hard to just have 1, or 5, or 10. They are unbelievably good.

I want to put it out there that as a black woman I experienced outward racism at the Seven Stars Bakery in Providence on Hope Street this afternoon. I was made to feel uncomfortable, unsafe and unwanted in that establishment, I literally was there twice today. The staff allowed several white customers to yell at and shame me in front of the entire restaurant because I was with a friend and "being too loud". The staff asked me to leave and did not react or confront the white people that yelled at me condescendingly stating "Black Lives Matter right?!?!" when I called out the disrespectful way they spoke to me. The staff did nothing to stop the behavior and only addressed and approached me as the person of color, asking me if I was "ok" and if I could leave to "stop what was happening". They allowed four white customers to be harassing and aggressive towards me so they could continue their scrabble game as I was enjoying time with a friend. They did nothing to address or confront the individuals that yelled and insulted me , publicly shaming me in front of the entire cafe. I will never return to this establishment and ask that other POC think twice before entering as well.

I live close and go here often to read or do work. Theres plenty of space and tables outside in warm weather. The bakery items are fantastic: I like the breads because of the wonderful chewy texture and the taste. The pastries are rich, but I wish they offered something less sugary like a chocolate tart or biscotti. The staff is always cheerful and helpful - offering a sample of bread to an indecisive customer or knowledgeable about the taste differences between the different items. I usually get the coffee here for the free refills if I plan on staying a while. The price is okay, but its not the best coffee Ive had. Personally, I find it a bit weak and a touch bitter - I think it would be better if they added more grounds for brewing. Ive never been in the morning, but in the afternoon its busy generally between 4-5pm, and you may have to wait a few minutes for your coffee and another for a table. The line is never more than 10 people, and theres about 4-5 staff helping out when its busy. Also, if youre craving a specific item, go before 5pm as they sometimes run out.

There are a bunch of things I really like about 7 Stars - theyre locally owned, the bread is awesome, the folks that work there are great, their espresso drinks, teas & juices are really great - oh, and the hot chocolate is just fantastic. Ive tried almost all of the pastries and theyre all yummy. However, I am really not a fan of their house coffees. Granted, Im a coffee snob, Ill admit that freely. For me, Id rather drink Dunkin Donuts house coffees - and thats no compliment to either place. Also, sometimes the acoustics in there are just bloody awful - usually during peak hours and when the baby brigades come in. However, there are plenty of times when the place has quiet customers and one can really enjoy a break with a good book and some nosh. And, during the warmer weather, they have a lovely garden area that can be rejuvenating. Be prepared though because parking can be a nightmare up and down the Hope Street business area. So, if you arent a local walking from home or work, be prepared to walk from wherever you park.

7 stars instead of 5 for this bakery if I could. I have never written a review for anything before but when I saw 4 stars for this outstanding place I felt it needs correcting They have the best bread, the best sandwiches, the best coffee, and above all the best pastries in Providence. And they have the fastest, nicest, and smiliest service. Always fresh flowers inside and a super pleasant flower garden to eat outside when the weather is nice. The only thing I hate about Seven Stars is that it is impossible to choose what pastries to order. I usually change my mind a few times and I feel faint right now just thinking of the choices. Seven Stars is one of these rare places that makes Providence a special place to live.

Deliciousness on so many levels! Nice bold espresso drinks. Fabulous fresh bread, especially the vermont cheddar bread. I love the berry muffin and ginger biscuit most but everything else here is great too. And I am not the owner or part of the staff just someone who really likes this bakery. The people who give this place a bad rating are scrooges. Went there for lunch today got a huge cookie, a roast beef sandwich and an iced mocha and split the cookie with a two year old and only spent eleven dollars.

I wanted a bagel, and was surprised that they didnt serve bagels here. The cashier recommended I get a slice of bread and I ordered the cheddar cheese bread with cream cheese on the side. To my delight the bread was fantastic. Crust was crunchy and the middle was warm and soft and it really did taste like cheddar cheese. The hot chocolate here however is not very good. All in all I recommend this place. Friendly and considerate staff. Prices are reasonable. Adequate seating. Cozy spot, with parking.

Looks like a great place to get bread and pastries and it has a nice ambiance. I went for lunch, however, and was disappointed. They have about 5 sandwich options, only one of which is vegetarian, so I ordered that one. The bread was good but there wasnt much of it. The filling was mostly a pretty tasteless cheese (mozzarella I think) with a few sprigs of arugula plus a very salty and unpleasant olive spread. The sandwiches are not made fresh to order.

Just came back from Paris and had the best croissants ever. I heard Seven Stars had the best croissants in the area, so I would compare theirs with Paris. YES! These are certainly as good as in France...flaky, buttery and delicious! No need to search any further! I also had a warm asparagus quiche. Oh, yum! Awesome crust and veggie cooked just right. Why go anywhere else!
