Ive never been the least bit interested in comics but I was so excited about this concept and supporting it I agreed to go with my boyfriend. The staff is super nice and very helpful, the café has great options including pretty much any kind of coffee/tea and fresh bakery items (saw them baking muffins when I was there!) And, most importantly, I found THREE awesome comics featuring people and women of color that I absolutely loved and cant wait to continue reading. Completely amazing establishment, cant wait to see it grow!

I was in Philadelphia for business. Id seen articles online about Ariell and the shop and decided I wouldnt leave Philly without stopping by. The service was great (shout out to Rachel - an Indianapolis transplant). The cookies were great! I met Ariell Johnson. She was really cool and an inspiration. The shop is well planned. Coffee and comics! Oh ... and a kids section. Ill be back one day and I also plan to order books from them.

My brother and I went to check this place out earlier this afternoon. It was very well set up, they had coffee, snacks, and a nice selection of comic books that my brother couldnt stop looking through. I liked the place so much I filled out an application! (Fingers crossed) I wish I could have met the owner as well to let her know the store is great and well be coming back soon to taste their coffee/read comics.

There arent many comic shops left in Philly so when this place opened I felt like a kid again. This is the first female owned comic shop on the East coast and the shop offers cool comics, graphic novels, book signings and live discussions every month. There are also tasty treats, sandwiches, coffee and drinks to be had while you sit and read your favorite book. This will be my new chill spot for a long time.

Great place for kids and adults. Whether you are a regular comic book reader or new to the genre, the staff will help you find something to suit your tastes. With the wide variety of story lines, awesome role models for girls and boys, comics from Amalgam have become my familys main source of entertainment. It puts a whole new spin on family reading time.

Everything you want in a comic book store and more... Including a bad ass black female owner who welcomes lots of minority groups, justice oriented groups, geeky groups, kids, families and many combinations thereof for gaming, special events, meet-ups and so on. Annnd theres a cafe! Fun spot for young & old, not to be missed.

Excellence Comic store with a diverse and helpful staff. My girlfriend is new to comics and the staff was accommodating and attentive to her needs and focused on opening the larger world of comic lit. The cafe is fair priced and the coffee taste great. Im looking forward to spending an extended amount of time here.

This place is perfect. You can nosh on tasty snacks while reading your newly purchased comics. The staff is laid back and fun to talk to. And, its right in the East Kensington/Olde Richmond/Port Fishington area where there are so many other great places to visit afterward.

Loved the predominantly geeky and coffee shop vibe. Friendly staff. I didnt feel out of place in the comic book side. Normally at a comic store I get weird stares and have my geek credentials heavily questioned. Thanks for making the place welcoming!

Amazing place! Best place to read comics featuring people of color and some nerdy/blerdy all time favorites. Great coffee and the owner, Ariel is a ball of electricity and smiles, it doesnt hurt that she looks like a superhero herself. Check them out!

Great place for families, my husband and children love comic books, I just enjoy sitting and having a cup of coffee as they shop. Also, a nice place to sit and do work, or treat the kids to do their homework, and then shop afterwards.
