Holy Wienerschnitzel Batman, The Swan Market has you covered. Our next International Dinner Night was nestled on Parsells Ave. right in the city of Rochester. Now walking through this neighborhood was a little scary, but the reward of delicious German food was well worth the trek. The atmosphere inside looks just like a German Market, much like you are dining during the Oktoberfest. It was nice to be joined by Christopher B., and Trevor G. who knew German food well, and educated me much on what I was eating. The service is fast, and needed to be because the Swan Market gets PACKED fast during the weekends ( Google! Tip- Space is Limited). The Swan Market is a little bit of Germany right here in Rochester, which is RARE to find. It is home to authentic Old World German sausages & meats, and the portions of meat served are HUGE ( The Germans know SIZE DOES MATTER when it comes to your sausage). Swan Market hosts a variety of German bands throughout the year, which is great to dance too with your Dunkel (Beer). BEER: Talk about the TALLEST/BIGGEST beer glass I have EVER seen are right here at The Swan Market. This Dunkel will have you floating out this place in no time, as it is filled with two main varieties: the sweetish, malty Munich style and the drier, hoppy Franconian style. Its like having a beer thats sweet and salty! LUNCH MENU: To get the whole German experience, you want to go for the German Garbage Plate. The SMOKED BRATWURST was my favorite part of the combinations because of the apple-wood smokiness coming off the meat on the plate. I enjoyed the red currywurst on-top because it gave the bratwurst an extra added flavor enhancement ( Hey, its Germany, so lets take it up a notch). The ANDOUILLE SAUSAGE tasted fresh, with a good blend of peppers and onions mixed inside. The JAEGER SCHNITZEL was a tender piece of veal cutlet topped with a delicious, and creamy mushroom gravy. The ROULADEN had tender pieces of beef cutlets nicely rolled together with onions, mustard, pickles, sausage, and BACON!! Bacon does make the word go around, especially in Germany. My least favorite meat out of the combinations was the MEATLOAF, which tasted very dry. It ended up looking like a hamburger helper meal because the texture just fell apart mixed with everything else on the plate. THE SIDES: I thought the sides where a little disappointing overall, which included the RED CABBAGE. The Red Cabbage lacked all sweetness, and pepperiness in flavor as it was supposed to have. The ROGOT( Noodles) where another disappointment as I thought they where all soggy, which left a bad texture feeling/taste. I did get to try the GERMAN POTATO SALAD which was creamy, and flavorful. A well balanced combination of mustard/ mayonnaises. OVERALL: HUGE Beer Glasses, The German Garbage Plate, Jaeger Schnitzel, German Potato Salad, Smoked Bratwurst, and One Heck of a Crash Course in German Food...I Will Be Back!

I love Swan Market. I am a regular shopper at the butcher counter. If you are looking for fresh made authentic wurst, wieners or salads, this is the place for you. They have a full service butcher counter like the one my grandmother used to take me to when I was a kid. And the lunches are sublime. The food is great and the company better. You may have the privilege of sitting next to patrons who have been a part of Swans history. Barry and the whole staff are welcoming and go above and beyond in the customer service department. It can get crowded in the little shop but, believe me, its worth ever second of the wait. It is a Rochester gem. Go there.

After hearing about Swan Market from several friends, I finally went to discover this hidden (to me) gem. I didnt have much of a familiarity with German food or meats, but found the entire staff welcoming, willing, and full of recommendations for the introduction of a new customer without much knowledge. The atmosphere was great, full of history, photos, and memorabilia. The beer menu and food were amazing!!! Huge fan, and will definitely frequent Swan Market! Thanks for a great visit!

GREAT German restaurant! The beer in their 1 liter stein is fantastic! They have some of the finer beers on tap which a six pack at a grocery store would cost $13. So the price you pay for a liter of the same beer for a restaurant actually equals in price which is very rare for any restaurant! The food is outstanding! They also sell raw meat even "game" meat! Gotta give this one a shot! Location could be better, but definitely worth a trip!

I have never really had German food before, but after my trip to Swan Market I was definitely impressed. The environment was very welcoming and the staff treated you like family.I really like how they offered a sampler plate, so I was able to have a taste of everything. You get huge portions at very reasonable prices. If you want authentic German food in a fun and friendly environment, I highly recommend this restaurant!

I tend to be a picky eater and before eating here I couldnt tell you what kind of food German food actually consists of. My co-workers raved about this place and Im glad I tried it. The sausage platter, Hungarian goulash and jagerschnitzel were my favorites and the beer was a great touch. I cant wait to take a few friends there, but its usually a full house (for good reason!). HIGHLY recommend Swans!!

Before stepping into Swan Market, the last time I had authentic German food was when I was studying abroad and visited Germany. The food at Swan Market, if not comparable to the food I had in Germany, is even better. I really enjoyed the schnitzel the most. However I recommend any new diner to get the sampler plater to try everything, you will not be disappointed.

We had Swan Market do a pig roast for a big occasion in our family. The brought out the pig and cooked it for all of our guests to see. The meat was cooked absolutely perfectly and our friends are still talking about what a great party we had and they cant get enough of the food. Thanks so much!
