I go there almost 2 times a week to get lunch since I work in the vicinity. Usually I will spend about $10 on average, when I am there. So, basically I am spending about a $80 a month there on lunch. Most of the times I get a sandwich there. The guys prepare it and then put a price on the sandwich that you take to the counter to pay (some of you might be familiar with this routine). So, this week something similar happened, I ordered my usual, the guy who prepared is, did so. Now for the regulars who go to the deli, there is this other guy there who is mostly behind the sandwich counter; heavy-set, always sweating, has a moustache, loud and obnoxious (I am not sure but he might be the owner). So, after the sandwich was ready, he stepped in to price my sandwich. Now keep in mind, I am there 2 times a week mostly ordering the same sandwich, every time paying the same price for it. So, when this guy (owner) steps in, he decides to price it almost 10% more than I pay for it. I did not pay attention at first but then later when I saw the price written on the sandwich wrapper, I went back to question him why was the sandwich priced more than it usually is and he interjects and says, "because that is how much it is!" and then he turns to the guy who always prepares my sandwich and says, "see this is the problem ....". Now being a usual customer I absolutely did not like being treated like this. Paying the 10% more was not the problem, being treated without any respect is the problem here. Instead of being a proper business person, and notifying the customer before pricing the sandwich something like, "im sorry, but I know usually this is how much we charge you for the sandwich but actually this is how much should be charged, and im sorry for any misunderstanding or inconvenience, etc" the guy decides to be rude. I think that shows poorly on the establishment and the persons sense of manners. For someone who visits the deli on a regular basis and is a good customer, being treated like this doesnt ,make me mad, just makes me not want to give them my business anymore. There are plenty of other delis in Melville. I am writing this review for the owner of News Stand, please teach some manners / sense of doing business to your employees / yourself.

The place is dark, really feels like a sports bar even though it isnt. The theme is a newspaper-ish style menu. Not a fan, but it is original. The food is good but like many others said, its quite pricey. Rush hour is the worst. Dont bother coming here if your lunch falls in time with every one else at Melville. Come at 11:30, or 3:00. Really like the pasta section, not so much the pizza, but its quite thick and fills your stomach pretty nicely. The pizza is probably the cheapest thing there. Sandwich line is a pain during rush hour. Overall, a nice place to swing by... when its not full.

The front entrance has an extremely tall step to get into the building. It is not marked with a sign or caution paint, and I fell. When I informed the employees that I had fallen, they just looked at me. A full half hour later, an employee finally asked if I was ok. They do have a rear entrance which is handicapped accessible, but I did not know this being new to the place. I will never go back!

Worst cobb salad ever- I have always felt this way about their sub-parr salads but kept trying different ones becasue they were convienent- today took the cake- no avocado , they dont even cut up the bacon full greasy slices , who even uses iceberg lettuce anymore except for a wedge salad and their balsamic dressing was watery and tasteless -Im heading to Gemini !

Love the food, service is great!! They have the best hot food! Nice sandwichs and wraps, and lots of real grilled chicken. (Yum) They have a really nice chopped salads that are made to order And we love the grab and go case, Breakfast is very good and made fast. Service is always Great and very friendly (I think they know all of our names) lol.

This place has a sweet spot in my heart as it was one of the very few places that was still open immediately after Hurricane Sandy. This is a very good deli with a wide selection of hot plates that vary day to day. Good atmosphere and decor. This place is somewhat hidden but I consider it a small oasis in Melville.

I love this place. Really great and large sandwiches at reasonable prices. The place is big and is popular during the lunch hours. The sandwiches are made to order and in just a few minutes. They have a huge selection of food including pizza and other hot meals too.

Years ago this was a 6 figure deli. That was its prime. Now its a good deli for basics, but its beyond me how turkey could be so dry when its drowning in water..I mean gravy. Guess they make up the differnce in traffic by up-charging everything

Food is good but pricey. They need to do a better job cleaning though. Have you seen the tons of dead flies in the lamp fixtures? Once I noticed that, i was turned off by the place.

The food is all very good. When I eat there I dont like eating out of to go containers, and using very cheap plastic forks and knives for a lunch that costs $12 with tax and soda.
