It had been many years since I ate at this kosher deli. My family is from the area, and we ordered from here from time to time. Back as a kid, I never really appreciated Jewish food. Not so today. On a recent nostalgia trip to a few places nearby, my girl and I made this our lunch stop. It looks like a typical, low-key Jewish deli. The only item of note are the various paintings by Chinese artists. This is interesting, as the place doubles as an art gallery (smart idea). They also have a nice, big party room located next door as well under the name the Peach Pit. Our server was very pleasant and efficient, even helping some of the elderly guests to get up and sit down; on the contrary, the Indian bus boy working that day was annoying enough that eventually I just told him to leave us alone. That aside, there isnt much like drinking a Dr. Browns black cherry in a Jewish deli that, thankfully, can still cook the old school way. We started off with an order of latke chips and matzoh ball soup. I have no idea why someone hasnt thought of making smaller, crisper latkes like this before, instead of the hockey pucks you normally get. They were crunchy with soft potato innards, and greasy without being too much so. Pretty damn perfect with some applesauce. The matzoh ball soup was a sizable portion with a great matzoh ball, although I typically prefer more shmaltz in my soup. For accoutrements, their cole slaw and pickles (particularly full sours) were great. We split a pastrami on rye for our main, which was tasty. The pastrami was melt in your mouth fresh with flavor to spare. A little lighter on the spicing and marbling couldve been a but better, but a great sandwich nevertheless. I just wish they had better rye bread; their homemade mustard (great) was needed to rectify this. All of that, with some leftover latkes and part of the sandwich to go, was a pretty epic lunch. Great to see my old neighborhood holding down the Jewish deli tradition.

Called today and had a Salami Sandwich delivered to my work. I was charged obviously a fee for the food in addition to a TEN DOLLARS DELIVERY FREE which I dont mind nor is the topic of this review. The food was delivered WITHOUT ANY KOSHER SEAL!!! and since it contains meat, it cannot be eaten by any one keeping a real Kosher diet, a concept know as "Basar SheNisalem Min HaAyin". Called the store spoke with the store manager who introduced himself as Paul and stated they NEVER deliver any meat with any seals or kosher signs, they dont tie or close or staple the top of the package either. I spoke over the phone with the stores supervising rabbi who stated the store is supposed to make deliveries with the kosher seal on the package!!!...called back the store and spoke with the manager again, long story short very unaccommodating despite the mistake coming from their end!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORES DELIVERIES TO ANY ONE KEEPING A REAL KOSHER DIET! THIS STORE IS NOT GLATT KOSHER!!!!

We ordered from Mill Basin Deli Saturday afternoon through GrubHub, starving as usual. Before I talk about the food, our order did not arrive on time. More like 20 minutes later, but GrubHub did offer us a $5 credit towards our next order. So that was nice of them. We ordered potato chips (crispy latkas) a smoked turkey wrap, soups, perogies, hot dogs and some other small eats. Id rate the food at a 6.5. It was good and Id order again so I can try some other eats but its pretty basic and of course deli style. The hot dog was advertised as huge, but was not so huge at all. The soup could have used some more spices but it was still hearty and delicious. I did read a couple of reviews talking about the service being sub par but I only dealt with Grubhub and besides the delivery being late, my order was good. Im looking forward to trying some other Deli eats in the future.

One of the last, only?, remaining very good Jewish delis in Brooklyn and Im lucky to live in walking distance. Much better pastrami than Katzs IMHO and about the same price for a sandwich. My sons love their combo sandwiches & I like their matzo ball soup, potato pancakes, knishes & hot dogs. The also sell Dr. Browns soda. I usually get the food to go, and the take out counter can be a bit daunting for the unassertive so step up and be counted. Wait staff was very friendly & attentive on my most recent sit down visit but that may have been more about eating with my two "twenty something" sons then me actually. :-)

I ordered 1 gallon of sour pickles. It took 11 days to reveive the order. They were incorrectly packed, taped/broken lid on a used plastic jar, and all the juice ran out. The pickles tasted good but were so soft and beat up I had to throw them out. I called and was told I would get a call and another jar of pickles. That has been a month. Mill Basin is a great place to eat, one of the absolute best, but their shipping procedures and customer service leave a LOT to be desired. I highly recommend it but only if you are in the area and can go in, sit down, and absorb the sights and smells of a truly class deli.

Once a great place , The Mill Basin Deli has lost it. The last time I ate there my sandwich was as dry as the Sahara. The two last times I took out from them it was a disaster. The pastrami egg rolls had more oil in them than an auto shop, and the pastrami and corned beef I bought the next time was tasteless and drier than I thought was possible. Sorry Mill Basin but in my book, three strikes and youre out, especially at $20.00 something dollars a pound. Its such a shame to have seen a good deli go down the drain. And to top it all off its kosher "style", not real kosher.

Fantastic kosher deli. There are not too many left. All of the food is great. The service is good. They have a really good inexpensive lunch special including soup or appetizer, entree, drink, and dessert. Yummy. You will be full for two meals. The sandwiches are huge and delicious. Corned beef, brisket, turkey, roast beef. I love the hot dogs inside of a potato knish. Everything is very good. Ask for the macaroni salad and the health salad. No additional charge.

Its like the only Kosher Deli left in Brooklyn. My family and I eat here often. Its known for its knishes and mazah balls. Great kosher meat on rye. You are served coleslaw, pickles and a meal. Over sized sandwiches with mustard, sweet potato fries (I dont know why these cost so much) not really worth the extra $. Stick to the regular fries and share a sandwich with soup. Weekends are busy.

Excellent fast service. Really neat, rustic. Menu was overwhelming but that is what a deli is all about. The delis and sandwiches are what they are known for, stick with those foods. Wouldnt recommend the turkey pot pie. I also realized thatvthey have no ksher certification even though they claim they are kosher. Overall, good.
