I felt like I stepped into an episode of Gordon Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares! Lunch is by definition relatively quick, right? Especially when you have to be back at the office within an hour or so? Right... We had planned a work lunch from 12:00 to 1:30 with reservations for 12:00 (a little office celebration for two of us who are leaving). We were all seated by 12:10. The waitress was very friendly and came by a few times before we were ready to order. By 12:20 or so we each had placed our orders, most of which were simple salads, a sandwich, one pasta dish and one entree. By 1:00, there was no food in sight aside from the bread, which we had all already eaten, and a starter salad for one person. I had to leave by 1:00 and disappointed not to have had a chance to try my salad I asked the waitress to cancel my order. She said the manager would wrap it up for me instead... great, thanks. Meanwhile, as I got up to leave with my salad container in hand at 1:10 (so nearly an hour after we had placed our orders), I was still the only one to have actually been served my food. A few other factors, made the experience much worse than it needed to be: the restaurant was virtually empty when we arrived and only started to fill up after we had ordered... yet everyone received their food before us. Neither the waitress or the manager apologized for the huge inconvenience. In fact, when I mentioned to the manager on my way out that our table has been waiting for their food for an hour now, he dismissed my comment with an annoyed "I know! Its on its way"... As for the food? Well, I wish I could comment on that but as it happens they managed to screw up my salad, dousing it in dressing when I asked for it to be on the side...Yet another overpriced, subpar restaurant in the Princeton area. Definitely not going back...

We held a private party at Tre Piani this past weekend, we had a large group in the main restaurant. I cannot say enough about how satisfied I was or how impressed our guests were. During the planning process with Trish, we adjusted the menu to our preferences, kept the alcohol budget reasonable and added our own personal touches to the very unique ambiance. The restaurant was very accommodating of all our special requests. The day of, everything was perfect. We had an unexpected seating crisis which was quickly addressed. The menu selections were perfect, the food was very good and plentiful and the service absolutely exceptional. Particular thanks to Trish who helped us plan and managed our affair and to the top notch wait staff. I would highly recommend Tre Piani for a private party or a evening out.

Had specifically requested a quiet table, not in the bar when I made the reservation. There were parties going on in the non-bar sections of the restaurant so we were seated in the bar, right in front of the door. We got a cold blast of air every time someone came in or went out. The food portions were ridiculously small for the price. It was very crowded and the service was slow. Would never go back on a Saturday night and probably wont return at all. Best thing I can say is the maitred tried to be accommodating, but it was hopeless. Food was ok but nothing exceptional (especially for the price). Desserts were quite good.

We had come to Tre Piani on Feb 16th and felt the food was not worth money. My husband and I had ordered the lamb chops and twice we had to send it back because it was cold. When it did come back it was so dry, and the Lamb was not well done like we had asked! The pizza was very soggy. We were not offered any pepper for the food, or butter and oil for the bread! I saw other tables being offered this. The bread was rock hard and I was given a diet coke instead of a regular coke. Its pretty sad that a place as nice as this would give poor service and cold food.

Great food, cooked to order. Cant understand some bad reviews. Cooks are interested in turning out quality. Food deserves 5 stars but I agree service is below par, especially the hosts. I was never greeted with a smile and I go there 2x a month. Cant understand how you hire a host that is miserable. Im assuming hosts must be related to owner. Even waiters could smile more. I sometimes feel like staff is poorly managed. Its not like I feel personally slighted, I see staff being miserable with all the customers.

Wish I could give this a 5 star review as outside seating and service was superb. We ordered a pizza which was a bit overcooked and burnt on the bottom and waiter immediately offered to get us another. Nice touch. The main disappointment was the eggplant parmesan, which was advertised to be served with pasta. The dish contained mostly pasta, with very little eggplant. Certainly well prepared and tasty, but was hoping for more of a true eggplant parmesan meal. Good, but not great lunch at Tre Piani.

One of my favorite places, the chef clearly knows what hes doing but your meal will not be coming very fast, my wait staff was courteous and attentive but I get the sense that some of the staff would rather just text home. They had a pork tenderloin, with a really excellent pollenta dish, that is now my favorite for visiting the place, I often eat vegetarian fare, but this is one of the few places Ill always fall off the wagon for.

We got terrible service on Christmas Eve and were not well treated by the host. Additionally, they proceeded to charge us a tip before giving me the opportunity to make a decision of what to give them...totally unacceptable, we were only a party of 3!!! Not a good experience...will not have our daughters bridal shower there and will not recommend it to anyone in the area. Im a real estate agent and believe service is paramount!

I would tend to agree with the posters that suggest that service is not very fast, but the food and wine selection are both very good bordering on excellent. So budget some extra time and enjoy. Its a great escape/alternative to Salt Creek Grill - which is around the corner, we discovered this place on a recent dinner on account of SCG having a wait, and its a great little "in the know" place.

Overcharged all the way around using a Groupon. They added 20% gratuity for 2 people. The charged 9.25% NJ sales tax, even to the tip which is never taxed, and NJ sales tax is only 6.875%. When questioned the manager, she said "our computers generate the bills and thats the way its done." Didnt offer a solution and we were left to pay the full overcharged price. Would not recommend!

Incredible. Best dining experience I have had in a while. Delicious food. Homemade pasta. The oysters were great as well. Variety of wine, beer, and drink options. The service was amazing. They were so attentive and professional. Ambience and atmosphere was wonderful. Was in town traveling on business and am so pleased that I decided to have dinner here.
