I was very dissatisfied with the service I received. I am a 20 year old women with a nut allergy that I am very familiar with as I have had it my whole life. I am allergic to treenuts but not peanuts. I have lived down the shore my whole life and have gone to get ice cream at different places at least once a week for my entire life. I went on to explain that the allergy is not that severe, cross contamination does not matter and I can just not have an ice cream with nuts in it. The waitress refused to serve me what I wanted and when I tried to explain my situation she said that the owner did not care ( the owners are ex nuns). Furthermore, I finally agree to having the allergen free ice cream and requested a small waffle and once again was refused because of possible allergens. I asked the waitress to explain to the owner the situation but once again the owner did not even come out to address the situation or speak to me. As a 20 year old woman who has been ordering ice cream and food out for years, I think I am capable of deciding what I can and cannot eat. They simply refused me service. Furthermore they nickel and dime you for everything. They charge 2 dollars for an extra plate to share.

My family and I came to á la mode on our way out of town, back to Vermont. We stayed in town till 3 oclock because that was their opening time, we really wanted it before we left! All four of us planned on ordering waffles with ice cream, to find out they didnt have waffles. This was because they "would have to turn on the machine". So, we looked at the menus again and all ordered something new. They came back saying they didnt "have any brownies", and my brother had to order for the third time. After we got our ice cream the waiter came back to say sorry and "mustve caught us at a bad time", when really they shouldnt have a bad time. We have been coming here for years, but was definitely disappointed this time, next time we will try some place new.

Just came out of the restaurant and was very excited to enjoy my ice cream. Immediately as I walked in a lady yelled at me to put my shoes on when I was clearly putting them on, as I knew prior you need shoes on to be in there. After I paid I was on my way home enjoying my ice cream when I felt a hair in my mouth. There was hair in my ice cream. And no it wasnt my hair because i have black hair. But it was blonde. Im furious. Im angry. Hair is NOT SUPPOSE TO BE THERE. Sorry, but im TICKED OFF.

The line can be quite long but the service makes up for at as servers will take your orders the whole way for every person to the end of the line. Which is additionally helpful as some items, i.e. waffles, take longer to prepare. But they are so worth the wait. You can smell the waffles being cooked while in line and with the waffle still warm as the ice cream slowly melts on top, is fantastic, best item on the menu!

My family goes to ocean city every year with our neighbors. Over the years it has become like my second home! We all love ala mode! it is the best place to get ice cream in ocean city in my opinion, and would be highly recommended to everyone in the area!! Please do not listen to the bad reviews, the stuff that they say happens once in a blue moon!! trust me Ala Mode is the place to go when you are at OCNJ!!!

Ive been coming to this ice cream parlor for over 35 years. When I was a kid I came here with my grandparents. I came back again for the first time in a long time this past weekend and I was happy to see that not much had changed. Ive read reports about unpleasant service but I did not experience that myself. I was very pleased and had a great time.

Nice selections of flavors and sundae offerings. Can get really busy some nights so take a look at the sit down vs to go line, sometimes it quicker to sit (but you cant get cones). I had a waffle sundae that was really good the waffle was crispy on the outside and tasted great. Cash Only, they put their hours on the answering machine.

Every flavor I have had has been great, during the summer the line goes around the corner on the weekends, the kids and adults working there are trying their best to accommodate everyone. It is tough.

Our favorite place to go when in Ocean City for vacation. We stop by multiple times during our stay and although the lines can be long it moves quick. I loved every flavor of ice cream I have tried.

Friendly people very efficient in hetting orders filled. Note it is cash only but someone reminds you as you walk in so you are not stuck at register digging for dollar bills
