I was here for an event earlier this week, it was not my first time at the restaurant, but it was my first time at the bar. Im not crazy about the food, although the southwest eggrolls are quite delicious. It is a great venue for watching games, very spacious with lots of televisions (not a bad seat in the house), and the waiters/waitresses were doing their best to keep up with the (seemingly unexpected) high volume of people. However, there was an incident that left a completely sour taste in my mouth and I will never return to this establishment again because of it. My boyfriend ordered 2 beers (same beer). Upon tasting the beers, it was determined that they were both skunked. I walked back to the bar with the 2 full beers and attempted to get the bartenders attention to switch them for a different beer. She looked at me and saw that I clearly had a problem, and ignored me. I understand, it was a busy night, she had a lot of other people to attend to. I stood at the bar for no less than 10 minutes, and probably more like 15. Everytime she made eye contact with me, I nodded my head in acknowledgement that I needed her to come to me. She continued to ignore me. The people who were sitting at the bar next to where I was standing told me they had NO problems getting her attention before I walked up. They also attempted to get her to come over to me, even yelling "EXCUSE ME" at her several times. She continued to ignore us for the entire time I was standing there, as I mentioned, close to 15 minutes. She even went out of her way to ask other people in the vicinity who had not even indicated they needed her attention if they needed anything before attending to a customer that SHE KNEW needed her assistance. After about 8-10 minutes of this little game, every time she needed to walk over to the area right in front of me to get ice or beer from the nearby tap, she would put her head down and specifically AVOID eye contact with me. I thought it might just be me, but my boyfriend who was watching the whole thing, my friend who was standing next to him, and the people who tried to help me get her to come over all agreed that she was intentionally ignoring me. I have never been treated so rudely before by a bartender in my life. I ended up asking a waitress to help me, and she did, but the replacement beers were served by the OTHER bartender, as the rude one had no interest in helping me. I understand that she felt she wasnt going to make any money by helping me, but her job is to serve customers and fix any problems or mistakes that happen as a result of her serving customers. If you choose a job in an industry that involves working with the public, ignorant behavior like this will do nothing but hurt you in the long run. I will not return to this place, which is a shame, because it is a great place to watch the game.

My friends and I go to Alstarz to watch football every Sunday since they have the most TVs in the area. With a good group of people, you can overcome the annoyances that are almost all minor...but tend to build up over time. Its huge and looks great...but thats about all they really have going for them. The food is the definition of "doing the most". If you really just want some simple bar food while enjoying some games...this is not your place. Every simple dish has to be too fancy for its own good. The wings come with exotic sauces and on beds or rice or vegetables, which youre just not in the mood for. The chicken fingers are simply unusual, the mozzarela sticks arent what youre used to...its just too much style and not enough substance. The food just feels like a misfit with the environment. On top of that, the quality of what should be a simple dish ends up not being the best either. I will however say that their crab cakes are good. Over-the-top presentation for sure...but they are of quality. The beer selection at the bar outside could be better considering that it is smaller. Most of the common/good beers are inside, which is annoying when youre enjoying the game outside. Again, its a small thing, but they ad up. The atmosphere swings wildly from week-to-week. If the game lineup is good, Alstarz will be jumping. If its rather corny that week, it will be dead. Football Fans: BEWARE OF SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL! Do not venture here! The place is absolutely DEAD for SNF. My friend and I were the last two in the bar as the small crowd slowly dwindled, and they turned the Cowboys - Falcons game off with 10 seconds to go. Its not like it was a 6 point game with the Cowboys in striking distance as Im sitting there with a Cowboys jersey on...oh...wait. Smply put, as much as Alstarz wants to be a sports bar, theyre really just a faux-fancy restaurant in sports-bar clothing. This leads to a rather disappointing experience if youre not there with good people. After this past Sunday, Im scouting new places to enjoy games at.

I am hoping that it was an off night but the restaurant appears to have changed in the past year. They were having a promotion with Jack Daniels tonight. Jack Daniels decorations adorned hostess station and throughout restaurant. Questioned staff about this. Three out of 4 were unable to answer this inquiry. Turned out to be drink specials for Jack Daniels birthday. I would have expected that the staff would have been educated about their promotions. Waiter was polite and seemed attentive. Menu seemed to have less choices than in the past and prices were lower. Lower prices of course are nice, however it reflects a lower quality of the food. The physical menu has gone from a formal menu format to a single front and back printed piece of oversized paper. Salad order was incorrect, steak was served very cool, kids hamburgers were served medium rare, mashed potatos appeared to made from an instant mix, green beans over cooked. I preferred the way the restaurant had been in the past which included a fuller menu, and higher quality food. For a sports bar, it seemed to be better put together and managed in the past. I am hoping tonight was an off night. I am dissapointed in my experience and may take a while before I give them another chance. I

I am an out of towner and this was the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. We were told the waitress was busy so someone else took our drink order, half an hour later still no drinks, not even water. Then someone else came up to us asking if we had been helped with drinks, after we ordered again it took another 15 minutes for the drinks to finally come. We placed our order at the same time since we knew it would probably take a little while. We were not served our food after an hour and a half of being there. Others groups of people that showed up got their food before we did. We ended up leaving and not even eating after several attempts of getting service and asking what was going on. This place probably had no more than 5 tables on a Friday night and a full staff so there are no excuses. There some waitresses and waiters standing around doing absolutely nothing while two of them were trying to keep up with the work the others were lacking. They were all very irritated with each other and expressed this to us. It was the worst experience ever and could have been featured on bar rescue or restaurant impossible.
