We ate dinner there over 2 hours before SuperCross & we paid $80 for the worst food weve had in some time. We got a couple Henry The 111V Burger & they were not good at all my lettuce was pretty old. You know when it gets tart tasting its no good! We would have sent them back but we couldnt get any service. My daughter got the ham & cheese sandwich & the meat was super cold just the cheese on the bread was melted. Service was really horrible from our waiter. Our waiter said he was short staffed but everytime I looked up he was chatting up another waitress. Once he noticed us watching him he went in the back. Dont come give us service instead go hide in the back. I just wanted a darn soda! We had to go to the hostess to ask for our check so we could leave. And then we had to go find him to pay for our crap service & food. Maybe he might excell in the back somewhere but he ruined our experience and we will never go back even if they gave us everything for free! What a shame!

Although our server was great, that unfortunately was over shadowed by our horrendous experience with the manager, Bonnie. We paid $28 a person for a thanksgiving meal and and were told we couldnt keep our leftovers. We asked to speak to the manager because being this wasteful seriously offended my family and I. It took her, Bonnie, the rudest woman Ive ever met working in the "hospitality" industry, about 15 mins to even approach our table. She was completely unapologetic and down right rude, the only explanation we were offered was that "its our policy" which was condescendingly repeated in our faces over and over again. I will never ever be back here in my life and it is 100% because of the nasty attitude and straight disrespect we were given by BONNIE the worst excuse for a manager I have ever encountered.

This place has character, quality food and very hospitable staff. Josh slings the drinks with personality and genuine warmth. I took my lady down there on Tuesday and we had a very nice time. We just explored it and plan to make this a downtown staple. Looking forward to trying the Henry the 8th burger. We tried a Caesar salad with chicken. The chicken was indescribably good, the salad needed a little more dressing for my taste. Great small bar, convivial crowd. Very low key, great for an intimate outing or a quiet conversation. Be advised, the bar is undergoing a 3 month renovation starting early April. I hope they retain the charm! This is a gem!

In Minneapolis for business and ended up eating here twice, enjoyed both times. There was some remodeling in progress, not sure exactly what was being done. The decor was very old school, almost to the point of being kitschy, but it wasn’t really a distraction. We had both lunch and dinner, and both were excellent. Sandwiches were generous and tasty. Dinner entrees were reasonably priced, and the fried cheese curds were evidently awesome. Good wine and beer list, service was easy, quick and friendly. Try it, you’ll like it!

DO NOT HOST AN EVENT HERE. The woman you will work with, Bonnie, is terrible. She makes organizing a total nightmare and is totally unaccommodating. I like the actual bar and restaurant too; I wish I could do separate reviews but I cant and seriously trying to arrange a large dinner/meeting in one of their special rooms was SO BAD I have to give this a one-star. Also, there are so many great places in Minneapolis to do a big dinner/meeting, there is just no room for this kind of terrible service from Bonnie and staff.

Very friendly service. I asked the waiter for advice on a beer and he nailed exactlywhat I asked for. Also I ordered the king henrey VIII burger with blue cheese and bacon. I wouldnt consider myself to have the most refined palet but Im a fan of blue cheese and the blue cheese on this burger was the best blue cheese I have had in my entire life! The bacon was also a thick, crispy and flaverful type. They did not cheap out on any of their ingredients. The food, beer, and service was excellent!

Waitress was nice. But it took almost 30 minutes to get 4 simple drinks in a place with less than 20 people there. When we told them we just wanted our drink bill and we wanted to leave the manager came out and was very rude. He tried to make as many excuses as he could for how long it took and we told them we just wanted to leave. We were not being rude and he was very rude to us. Will not return.

If quality of ingredients and preparation is more important to you than portion size, then this is the place for you. For example, meatloaf sounds like a basic dish, but they prepare it with ground veal. The soups are fresh, salads have high quality greens, and deserts are very good. For weekday business travelers, barkeep Greg makes you feel at home.

Take my advice and ask the waitress service to check that they actually have the food you wanted to eat. We ate dinner early and my wife ordered modules mariniers only to be informed 15 minutes later that they didnt have any mussels. As it was on the main menu on a Saturday night they ought to have known that when we ordered.

Good, not great, food. Portions too small for the money IMO. Throw a side salad in to make up for it, maybe? Grease soaked limp fries. $7.75 for a cocktail that didnt have much alcohol in it. However nice the service was, Im not going back if this is the NORM at Normandy Kitchen.

Bar area was recently renovated (Oct 2016.) Staff have always been friendly and we always get good service there. Smaller menu given its really a hotel bar vs. a standalone restaurant but we enjoy the food there and they have a reasonable selection of beer / drinks.

Our party had eggs benedict, waffles and pancakes from the griddle and a classic breakfast. Nice downtown location that seems to be a relative unknown to my acquaintances. I would definitely recommend it for a weekend brunch. I will dine there again.

My wife ordered the skirt steak and that was cooked perfectly for medium rare. I had the walleye and that was spot on. The right amount of food was brought out and it was done well. We were very happy and we would go back again.

For that old school semi hideaway feel, go check out the Normandy. They are in the middle of a remodel so it doesnt look the greatest but the food is excellent, the drinks and staff are great and the owner is a super nice guy.

Nice quiet place to grab a bite. I live downtown and the Normandy is within a block of my condo. It's the place I go when I want to eat well without breaking the bank.

To die for Pecan Pie!!! Service was great! Mahyar and Todd made me feel welcome and attended to my every need and Joseph at the front desk was very accommodating.

Really good breakfast food - literally one of the only places that my grandfather-in-law will eat the steel cut oats. He loves those things. But only here...

The food is so delicious, I almost cried. The place is really versatile, it could be fancy, a family place, a cafe, a bar, you name it. Great place!
