Ive got to admit, this place popped up during the multiple mound construction projects this fall & I missed it, but then several yelp friends kept on checking in, but I did not give it a 2nd thought. Then it was a ROTD and I thought yea another shawarma place on mound.. So then I read a couple of reviews & had to get there, to see or justify the hype. Well 100% warranted Walked in at 6pm on 12-2-14 , Mike asked if it was our first visit, yes indeed! He then had those mini ice cream sample spoons & offered us each a taste of all 3 hummus, YES all 3 were fabulous, in taste & texture! I ordered the steak shawarma bowl .50 upgrade But Mike cooked the marinated meat , fresh on the grill. my bowl was layered with Cracked Wheat chickpeas parsley red & white onions pickled cabbage turnips jalapenos tomatoes tahini & garlic sauce A+ for $4.99 and I have leftovers I also ordered a bowl of lentil soup, which was very good, had a hint of a sweet taste setting it apart from every other lentil soup I have had A+ $3.40 The bride had the chicken shawarma bowl & chicken lemon rice soup She "Seldom" gets excited about food , however this place hijacked her taste buds, she claimed she was done with Qdoba & was plotting our next visit back. Faris the owner stopped by, wondered what brought us in, or how we heard about it. I asked how he chose the location, with so many middle eastern -Mediterranean places already around here, his answers were enlightening. I also asked where the next location was going to be? Shelby Please?!?

Ive had a friend recommend this place several times to me but for some reason never stopped in to try. Last night I had some late night errands to run and I didnt feel like cooking and wanted something healthy to bring home to my family. My friend begged me to try this place on my way home and try his special he always gets. I entered and there were several patrons in the restaurant already. There were two police officers ordering and as the man at the register began to ring their orders up a part on came up and offered to buy their meals. As awesome as that was I noticed that the man at the register had actually discounted their orders. So this place respects and takes care of their law enforcement which warms my heart. I got into a conversation with the man at the register and the woman putting my plate together. It was so inviting and they made my first time there so wonderful. I also tried tipping after I was cashed out and the man was not having it. He told me instead of tipping to make sure I come back and thats all he wanted. What a WOW experience! Great customer service and I will definitely be back and will be bringing more people with me!

Another instance where the overwhelmingly positive reviews mislead, this restaurant is not as great as the reviews indicate, food is average at best and priced very highly. Ive been here many times as it is the closest restaurant to where I live and never had food that great, especially for the price I paid each time. Ive ordered french fries quite a few times and each time they were mush, totally soaked in oil. They must take frozen french fries and throw them directly into oil before the oil gets hot enough. I am not trying to be absurd, I realize sometimes people have a "bad" day or mistakes can happen, but it really was not the case as each time it was the same. The last time I ordered food here I bought 2 sandwiches and 1 order of french fries and paid $20, I find that way too much money. French fries were totally soaked, soggy once again even though I told them before hand. Much better value for money elsewhere, to be completely honest.

Found this great Mediterranean spot in Sterling Heights called "The Chickpea Kitchen, " thats basically a Mediterranean version of Chipotle or Subway. The food and selection was fantastic. Very fresh ingredients, and you can tell most of it was cooked in house. I especially loved the Steak Shawarma, which they have a few rotating cuts of (I had Tri-Tip the night I went). I also had a fantastic Jalapeno-Cilantro Hummus that really made my bowl something great. Also... If youre a fan of Lentil Soup, make sure you get it here. So damn good. Prices were amazing as well, especially for the type of food. Nice atmosphere and the staff was very helpful and honest. Ill be back!

Went to the Chickpea Kitchen for the first time today. However before I start I would like to mention I rely heavily on reviews to try a place out but I never write reviews. This time I felt I needed to write a review. The place is decent sized and very clean. The workers were helpful. I ordered the steak pita with a small fattoush. The cooked the steak fresh and to medium temp. It was good quality and delicous. You order the same way you would at chipotle. Everything was fresh and good. I recommend getting the cracked wheat in your pita. 5/5 will be back

The food and service used to be very good. Lately they have been acting VERY CHEAP, every time I go in there and ask for extra veggies or meat they give me a weird look like i am crazy and give me attitude like it is a hassle to do your damn job. Then they add a little bit more and i have to look at the girl and tell her i asked for EXTRA and I DONT MIND for paying for it. The ladies just sat in the corner laughed and giggled. Not the first time this has happened and I am not the only person that has said this about this location.

I was honestly excited upon walking in to try this place due to all the good reviews. I thought "wow its like Chipotle for Middle Eastern food". However, there are FAR better Middle Eastern restaurants in a 5 mile radius with better quality and FAR more flavor. The unsweetened ice tea was nice however the food was just lacking in flavor including their chicken lemon rice soup. Their garlic sauce is way too strong too which is a big no no for me and I LOVE my garlic but this was far too overpowering. Wont be returning here again.

Food is a great quality and good tasting. Some things made to order so they are at their peak. Staff is very knowledgeable about ingredients and allergens (dairy & peamut being our concern) in their food, probably because they make all of it themselves. Staff is friendly. Portions are reasonable. The only tiniest word of caution is that although this is like Chipotle / Piada style Lebanese, so extra scoops or certain ingredients are an extra charge. This could be organized and notes better like Chipotle.

I am literally OBSESSED with Chickpea Kitchen! I eat here at least 5 days a week...literally. Their steak is to die for. I usually get a steak bowl with half rice and half cracked wheat, garlic, hot sauce, ranch, and add in my favorite veggies! But thats not all, the Chicken Lemon Rice Soup is deliciously mouth watering. Youll be begging for more and more!!!! Chickpea also makes fresh fries upon request and let me tell you...GET THEIR FRIES ON THE SIDE!! Your stomach will thank you multiple times
