Wow! Ivanhoes has out grown there current facility. Growth is good but not if you cannot keep up. As all of the other reviews say, it is always crowded. The ice cream is great and the biggest positive. My husband and I have been there several times in the last few months and each time had been trying to say the least. Every time we have visited we have had to clean the table. Even if someone did manage to swipe a rag across the tables, they are still sticky and gross. I pulled out my portable Lysol wipes and cleaned away. This last time we did not eat food but our friends did. As usual, very long wait for 3 salads. Then the ice cream line; plan on waiting in line at least 20 minutes just to order (I am not exaggerating). Then plan on waiting another long time to get your ice cream selection. The trash receptacles are always over flowing, the water dispensers have been empty on several visits, the back dining area is always a cacophony of human smells combined with restroom smell and fried food. Yuk! The staff could not explain the difference between a side salad and a garden salad other than size. The air conditioning in the back dining area had not kicked on while we waited and my husband asked someone to adjust the temp as it was extremely hot and uncomfortable. Someone did respond and press a button on the side if the thermostat and said, ..."there that ought to do it." I was hoping the person adjusting the temp would have alerted someone of the over flowing trash receptacles, as the thermostat is right over the trash. I did not use the restroom but my husband did and he said the trash was over flowing in there as well. Many years ago, in a group setting a very sweet speaker said, "....dont ever come with complaints without solutions or at least suggestions to improve." The ultimate solution is to expand. But at the very least hire a staff responsible for nothing but cleaning. The staff is overwhelmed and you can see it in their faces and actions. It would also go a long way to work on the system of fulfilling ice cream orders. One time my husbands ice cream selection was incorrect and had to be remade. His remake went to the end of the line and the rest of our party was finished and ready to leave and his order still had not come up. The person we assumed was the manager of that line was not helpful at all. Perhaps hiring front line managers who know how to appease and assure customers someone cares. Just 2 evenings ago as we sat outside on a bench waiting for our friends to arrive, we watched countless vehicles arrive; park; walk in; walk right back out; get in their vehicles and leave. Everyone of those groups numbered 4 or more people. Lots of lost sales. As for my husband and I we are done with Ivanhoes. We will meet friends there if they insist but we will not visit just because it is so convenient to our summer home. Please make it better for all of your loyal customers. Cleanliness goes a long way and says a lot.

UPDATE... I went back very busy and a male employee was walking sround with a spray bottle and cleaning rag...and did NOT spray a table with people or food at it. Thank you! You went up a star for that but when my name was called for my order a shake, a sunday, abd 2 scoop cone sunday was done cone was 2 scoops in a bowel not even the ice cream i wanted and shake was not made? Why call my name? I will try one more time...... What I had I liked. What I saw made me sick. You never spray cleaner on a table while people are at is let alone food on the table that people are clearly still eating. This poor woman was mid bite and a mist from the spray bottle came over her sunday and her table with a "Do you mind if I clean this for you" the woman was my age mid to late 40s and was not a messy eater no need to ruin her food to clean for the next guest. Yes they were busy but let the woman eat her sunday she paid enough for it and waited long enough for it you should let her eat it not poison it. And then after you contaminate her food ask for permission. If you asked first maybe her last half of her sunday would not be garbage. Never spray while food is on the table NEVER. This poor woman looked so devastated when she had to throw away her sunday and so sad when she told her friend who came to tell her their bus was loading so I am sure she did not get to tell anyone. And when I asked to speak to a manager I was told he was busy doing an interview the sad thing he was in the same room as this woman just on the other side. I live within walking distance to this yummy spot not sure when I will take any of my 6 grandchildren back. But the strawberry sunday I had was heavenly the fried mushrooms and cheese sticks so tasty and my daughters banana split was so much goodness in one bowl it was overflowing. Too bad 1 person can turn a good thing bad we ate in the car so we would not get sprayed.

The food is good, especially the ice cream, and the prices are reasonable. The problem is the current way they run things is horribly inefficient and they have a hard time keeping up with demand. My wife and I took our young kids out to celebrate my wifes birthday with her family. We ordered our meal which was approx 25 min wait not bad at all. After we ate I went to order ice cream (one sundae), the line was long, but manageable at first glance. While waiting I am observing how things are run, because I have time to kill. There were paper orders all over the counter in a jumbled mess, customers standing in line forever waiting to place their order, customers standing against the back wall waiting forever to pick up their ice cream. There were several times where it would take 5 mins plus and not a single persons order would be called to be picked up. Its a sea of people waiting, and waiting for an absurdly long time. They really need to figure out how to speed things up. Ive been coming for years, and Im glad they are doing so well, but Im not going to wait over an hour plus for ice cream, no matter how good it may be. After the hour mark it wasnt worth it, there were still several orders ahead of mine that were still in need of being fulfilled. I ended up asking for a refund which they were nice about. Our little ones had waited long enough and they were getting restless/almost time for bed. I will try again someday, but it wont be for awhile. Please figure out a way to cut down on wait times and overall efficiency. Your current setup cant handle the volume of people that frequent this wonderful place.

Huge ice cream selection. Small food menu. They seem to constantly be very busy but dont staff accordingly. Which is fine bc their inexpensive pricing balances that out. The building layout is confusing at first. Order food from one place, order ice cream at another and pick-up said food from another location. No signs to advise you of what and where everything happens. Backroom had a foul odor of urine. Which is also where the bathrooms are. Despite discrepancies I still rate as a 4 star. Appears to be privately owned and I value that. Owner could make a few small, effective changes for the good. Nonetheless, this place deserves a visit!
