I was extremely disappointed when myself, my husband, and my daughter visited for breakfast this week. My daughter got pancakes, my husband ordered potato pancakes with a side of hash browns, and I got an omelette. They brought the hot syrup out immediately after we ordered, then when my daughters pancakes came out they were burnt. I poured the syrup over them and it had sat for so long that a film formed on the top and it was almost to thick to pour. My husband and myself received out meal about 5 minutes later. My husband didnt receive his order of hash browns with the rest of our meal but we were told it would be a few more minutes, which is fine since he ordered them burnt. When they came out, they were hardly cooked and the hash browns that I got with my omelette were more crispy than his so the waitress asked if he would like them sent back. He politely said yes and we continued on with our meal. I noticed a few bites into my omelette that they eggs were not like normal eggs, the were shiny and almost rubbery. The flavor was nothing like an egg at all and tasted like plastic. 15 minutes later they brought my husbands hash browns back out and they looked like they were just pushed around on the plate a little bit and they hadnt even been cooked for anymore time. He asked for a box since we had finished breakfast at that time. After getting the to go box the manager came over and rudely said "she sent me over here because you had a problem". To which my husband responded that there was really no problem we had only asked for a to go container for the hash browns. He then told her that he ordered them burnt and when they came out after we ended our meal they were still not cooked nearly as much as mine that had come out with our meal. Managers response was that it takes a really long time to burn hash browns here. Okay, that is understandable but our point was that mine were cooked way more than his ever got to. He then told her about the quality of the omelette I was given and her excuse for rubbery plastic flavored eggs was that one of her cooks left early and she will check what is going on. I used to come in several times a month with my family and always referred friends because the breakfast was always so good but this time when we went I was less than impressed. We were given a $5 discount on our check and that was that. We never asked for a discount nor did we ask to speak with anyone to complain. We were just going to pay for breakfast and go about our business. But I do think that something needs to be done about the quality of the food, EGGS at the very least, because whatever was used to make my omelette was not real eggs and hopefully doesnt make anyone sick.

We went with my grandson, his family, and her sister and friend who were visiting from England. We got there before 4 PM and it was not a busy time. We were seated quickly and were served our drinks almost immediately. Our server was very pleasant and she took very good care of us. Seeing that it was the end of her shift, she came by to explain that she woul be leaving and introduced the server who would take care of us. Smooth trandition, done very polotely, with no interruption of service. We ordered a deep dish and a thin crust pizza with their special "butter crust." Both were simply delicious!! We had a small salad before the pizza and the baby had chicken fingers and fruit (which had to be good because he devoured almost all of them). So the whole experience was excellent. We have eaten pizza in Chicago many, many times and this is really one of our favorites. The ambiance is really good here and, if you go here on a weekend, you will find that its really packed (and really worth waiting for).

Food is so-so. Corned beef on St.Patricks Day was full of grizzle. I literally chewed and returned the grizzle to my plate. About 1/4 of the meat was terrible. My wife said that hers was okay. I showed the server, and stated that I was disappointed. We proceeded to order desserts. When we paid the bill, I mentioned it to the cashier. My impression was that neither of the young employees knew how to address the problem. Upon leaving, I concluded that there is a problem there with customer service management. Sandwiches are good, Ice Cream is Great. If I go back, I will NEVER order more than breakfast or sandwiches. Ice Cream is their specialty,

Normally, I like this place. The food is good and the service is good. The last time we were there a few weeks ago, we were overcharged on 2 items. When it was pointed out to the cashier, she got an attitude and told my wife other people paid the higher price so she didnt know what the problem was. It reached the point where she was argumentative and asked if we wanted to see a manager. We did and he came over and made a bigger adjustment to the bill than was required. We thanked him and left...probably for the last time and the blond cashier was the reason.

On July 9th, the entire strip that this restaurant is located in had their bathrooms flood and had feces and sewage flood the bathrooms and into the restaurants kitchen. The plumber that was called to the site found out that the issue was caused by the kitchen staff of colonial cafe flushing towels down the toilets instead of throwing them in the trash. On top of it colonial cafe stayed open with crap water flooding the kitchen. I strongly advise any returning patrons and even new customers to stay away from this esrablishment.

I have been a happy customer for years, until recently. My daughter had a procedure at the hospital, we thought it would be good to have lunch at this restaurant that I having been taking her since preteen, I was totally ashamed and embarrassed, for the service we got, also the bugs that was o the wall, that kept swarming around our food. This was brought to the manager attention, with no action being taken. I will definitely NOT be dining there anymore. Once upon a time "I loved this place"

Super friendly staff and knowledgeable caring servers. My sons and I love the pancakes and my wife enjoys their delicious omelettes. Their comfort food Dinner choices are fantastic such as the Pot Roast Dip. This is hands down my favorite Diner/Coffee Shop food in Naperville. Lynda was our server this evening and she was so gracious with our twin toddlers. She is truly amazing and so much fun. I almost forgot about their ice cream, fountain sodas, and the kitchen sink

Note: only went for dessert which was good but not what you want if you are thinking frozen yogurt. Otherwise good ice cream and dessert creations that go above and beyond. I did feel however that the physical location is in need of being updated to compete with other restaurants. Otherwise a good location for family meals and dessert
