I know this restaurant is a sister company of Sushi Samba but they are universes apart. My husband and I visited because he bought me a gift card last year for Christmas and we had not had the chance to go yet. We were sat at 6 oclock. By 630 we still only had two glasses of water gracing our table and nothing else. We asked to speak with a manager who said he would check on the food ( by the way these are tapas so they should not take so very long) finally our first dish arrived 35 minutes later after being sat. It was the goat cheese croquettes which were 5 of the tiniest little balls Ive ever seen in my life ($9) technically these 5 little balls break out to 2 real size croquettas by the way. we also ordered 2 wagyu sliders ($7ea) and in the middle of eating them the busser was pulling the plate out from under our mouth. ( not even kidding) normally Im understanding when waiters try to clear plates as I have worked in the restaurant industry myself but if somebody is still eating that might clue you in that they need the plate. Then we received our chicken yakitori ( One single skewer for $9) and it was quite rubbery. And our last dish which was the snow crab sushi roll (5 rolls for $13) all of which tasted pretty mediocre and very tiny portions. My husband and I have both been to Barcelona. I know sugarcane is trying to call these tapas but they need to take a trip to Spain. They also need to take a trip to Cuba because the restaurant is called sugarcane and there is not one Spanish dish or appetizer on this menu. Everything is sushi or a raw bar. They had one item called a flap steak ( whatever that is) with chimichurri for $18 which i guess can pass for Cuban. FYI you can go to a real Cuban restaurant and get a real Churrasco steak for $18 not a flap tapas version for the same price. We then asked to see the dessert menu - everything was $10. Including plain ice cream or sorbet. Wow! dont outdo yourself now.. even the ambiance seemed very haphazard as the string lights which used to look so pretty are all out and only have 1 or 2 on each strand that work. Looked like what happens to christmas lights from the 80s when you dont replace them. all in all a very underwhelming experience.

My boyfriend and I made reservations for our 4 year anniversary dinner. We were seated outside in the lovely and alluring patio as we requested. I whole-heartedly adored the sun/star lanterns as it gave off a pleasant vibe. The outdoor of the restaurant is indeed beautiful! We were given the honor of having Genesis as our waitress. To begin, she recommended us the goat cheese croquettes and the bacon wrapped dates (as pictured ) My boyfriend and I were blown away by the abundance of delectable flavors! It is indescribable to explain how scrumptious these plates were. Genesis also recommended us the Spicy Tuna Roll Sushi because we wanted to try something in the raw section. Since I trusted her recommendations from the very start, I ordered a roll of recommended sushi for us. Its definitely the best sushi we ever had. The food was prepared very quickly, too! Every one who passed by our table were very welcoming and friendly. Genesis, our waitress, was really attentive and enjoyable. She explained each dish with great detail when she would recommend it to us so we know exactly what were eating before-hand. My boyfriend really enjoyed this particular drink that brings a portion of sugarcane in it. Finally, we shared the 20 ounce rib-eye steak ( as pictured). It was so mouth-watering! Each bite was so lush and full of flavor. It was cooked just right and I felt as if it melted in my mouth! Thank you so much to the chefs for the abundance of flavor and especially to our waitress, Genesis for making our night! We will definitely be going more often as it quickly became our new favorite spot. I recommend everyone to go out and try this little gem of a place!

"Terrible Service- Manager and Waitstaff can really kill the experience" I am a Miami local and have been a customer of Sugarcane for a while and I can say that their service is getting worse by the day. The food there is wonderful and the place has a great atmosphere, so even though I was never satisfied with their service I kept coming back, until last Saturday.... For the second time in less than 2 weeks I got the section of a grumpy waitress that: was rushing us to order, forgot to give us silverware and got our orders mixed up..... so I asked to speak to the manager... I explained to the manager the issues such as: The waiter told me: you better order everything at once because the food here takes forever! I had no napkin whatsoever the entire dinner When I ask the waitress for a plate she yelled at me: but what happened to your plate?? They mixed up my drink order and then I didnt get the right drink until after I got my food This was the response from the manager: In a very rude tone: I am surprise to hear that because she is a great employee, all the customers rave about her, aside from that is not a waitress job to give the customer the silverware is the busboys job, but dont worry I will remember your face honey and next time you come here I wont sit you on her section. Great management skills buddy! Well, there will not be a next time because thanks to you I am not coming back to this restaurant. I hope the owner of Sugarcane reads this review.

There is something to be said about an airy, open space filled with large, shady tress that are decorated with glowing stars and pretty lights. That is the atmosphere you intermediately encounter upon entering Sugarcane. Their outdoor bar is to the left and the bartenders are really great. Very attentive and working hard to accommodate everyone. The one downside is that the bar area is way too small for a place this popular. However, it gets the job done. Their food has more of a tapas style feel to it with just a few full entrees. Everything our table ordered was delicious. I had the roasted sweet potatoes and the spicy tuna roll. It was fresh and very tasty (though not very spicy!), especially since I ordered some avocado to go with it. Avocado makes everything taste better! Their croquettes and sliders were a big hit at our table. Everyone was raving about them. Overall, this is a great place to join friends for dinner and/or drinks. The venue is beautiful, the location is great, and parking is super accessible. There is street parking and 2 garages near by. FYI: Parties will not be seated until everyone arrives so if you are going with a large group (like I did) I suggest you tell everyone to be on time. Also, they do not do separate checks but are happy to charge whatever you ask them to on the various credit cards you will be handing over - we had no problems there and the waitress was very gracious about it.
