Im writing this in Spanish to make sure this reaches its major clientes which is mainly Spanish people.

I went here with my family tonight to enjoy a nice dinner. We had come here before although there is quite a wait and a bit pricey we enjoyed the food so we thought wed go again. However, our experience tonight was upsetting. After reading some reviews on Yelp, I am glad that I am not the first person to have an experience with the owner, Rafael. We were with my niece who has an eating disorder, so her mom brought food from another restaurant which is the only thing she will eat if shes out. Please note that my niece is only six years old. Rafael felt the need to pass by our table and very rudely tell us that the food was not allowed. In his own words, "Y este invento? Y esto quien lo invento? No, aquí yo vendo chicken tenders y papitas fritas. Eso aquí no!" Needless to say we paid for our drinks and went out the door. Never once did he apologize or try to make anything better. Or at least give a chance to explain that my niece has an eating disorder. I will never step foot in this place again. Neither will my family and I will make sure others know the kind of person they are leaving their money to. Their food isnt really that great anyway. If you want good Puerto Rican food go to El Bajareque in Wynwood. I want to note that the staff was so nice and did apologize for the old mans outrageous behavior.

0 estrellas.

Great great Puerto Rican food. Juan Pablo was our waiter and he was very attentive and quick. He offered his opinion on some dishes and the ones he recommended were very good. After trying some Asopao in New York I had to find a place in Miami that had it. I had the Asopao de Pollo which is basically a chicken soup in island seasoning with rice, it is off the chain. Seems like a good dish to have if youre sick or feel like having something nice and warm. My boyfriend had the chuleta Kan Kan which is a HUGE piece of pork with seasoned fries and their special yellow rice. When I say HUGE, I mean it. It was 3 times bigger than his hand. We also had the bacalaitos for an appetizer (deep fried conch fritters) they were awesome. Mainly because they were very thin and crisp kind of like a fried plantain. Rafa, the owner, was also greeting customers and checking to make sure everything was running smoothly. Very good food, great service, quick and affordable. We had tons of food and leftovers and paid $50. Low key spot in West Kendall so I will be going back for more.

Came by quick lunch with family we ordered three steak sandwiches and unfortunately none of us liked them. The meat was not cooked all the way it was drenched in this "mayo ketchup" sauce which then made the bread extremely soggy, onions werent grilled right, the sand which was just awful. We felt bad turning back all 3 sandwiches so we called the waiter over asking if we can just switch one sandwich and he called in the owner. Once the owner came and we told him we didnt like the sandwich but wed be okay by just switching one for something else the owner atomically got defensive saying that there sandwiches are delicious and that he would not let us switch anything and if we wanted something else we had to pay for it. He was EXTREMELY rude. He was an older man probably in his late 50s has a grey slit back haircut and glasses, absolutely the most rudest inconsiderate person I met. Its sad when one of your own (puertorican) make such an ass of themselves. Very unfortunate since we were regulars. Wont ever come back beware of this hole in the wall.

Upon returning from NYC from visiting my Puerto Rican relatives, I discovered pastelón, the Puerto Rican lasagna. Once I got to Miami, I immediately told all my friends about the pastelón and made it my mission to find authentic, home made Puerto Rican food. Isla Del Encanto helped me achieve that mission. I ordered some pastelón Wed evening for a Thu lunch and surprised my coworkers. They were blown away, as was I the first time I tasted it. I went back on Friday night with my mother. She got the pastelón and I got the mofongo with bistec. We also had bacaladito, a fried cod appetizer. We had a few beers and called it a night. The owner spoke with us and made us feel like family. We cant wait to come back. Isla is a small intimate place. Be prepared to wait up to 30 mins on a Sunday afternoon. This is one of only a few Puerto Rican restaurants in South Florida, and they fill that void brilliantly.

I used to go there when they open for bussines. The food was good, with an authentic puertorrican flavor, also, and no less important, the prices were amazing. Seems to me they changed ownership, and now the prices are way up high. I think the owner is not puertorrican anymore. I will say to whoever got the restaurant now, it should hire more puertorrican employees, if all of them, and keep a good puertorrican cook in the kitchen. One visit those types of restaurant to feel and be, for a couple of hours, close to home, my case Puerto Rico. It seems to me that the magic vanishes when a colombian man or woman is serving you a mofongo con carne frita and a maví. On my part I can say, prices are way to high for a meal I can cook at home. Authentic puertorrican cuisine should followed by authentic cooks, owners and employees. All of them from the place the food is from.
