My girlfriend and I were here for Valentines day dinner expecting a pleasant meal in a comfortable environment - we got quite the opposite! It was an unfriendly, unsatisfying visit which left me feeling sick to my stomach. We began our dinner with our soups and appetizer and immediately had a bad feeling. What they are selling as soup is unflavoured water with some lentil puree and cilantro - no amount of salt could make it taste good! Next, our entree came out and ended up being not as we expected. We received a frozen vegetable medley with cabbage and cauliflower as a meal, which also was not flavoured and was missing key ingredients to make it the dish it was supposed to be. When our server came over to ask how we were, we told them that we had come here many times in the past and not had a bad experience until tonight in hope that he would be able to remedy the situation for us. We had asked to speak to the owner who told us that he will not refund or replace our dish because he would have to, god forbid, please his customers and make a replacement dish -he said we basically had to suck it. After talking with us and leaving us unsatisfied, he printed our check and had our waiter bring it to us and waited for us to pay. Of all the few times that I have had a problem at a restaurant, this was the first time that, even after talking to a manager or owner, I was not even slightly satisfied or felt good when I was leaving. I left Taj feeling ill and wanting to vomit. I will not return here ever again.

Wow, was I disappointed last night !!!! We had been to Taj Restaurant before and actually enjoyed the food. NEW CHEF????? I did not want the buffet, so I ordered the Beef Curry from the menu. The service was a chaos, nobody new anything, by the end of the meal we had had three different waiters, not sure who ended up with the tip????? I was asked by one of the waiters if I would like the dish mild, medium or hot. I said mild, because last time medium was really hot. I do not eat rice so I asked for a substitute and was told I could not substitute, REALLY, I am not able to get some of your already prepared (for the buffet) mushrooms or coleslaw? I guess Taj has not heard of the different allergies that people can have or different diets people are on? Maybe they/we should/can not go out ? OK !!! So I am getting my food served and it is a bowl FULL of a brown sauce with 6-7 bite size pieces of meat; BUT a PLATTER full of rice on the side, which by the way I said I DO NOT WANT. Would you like some meat with your rice????? The meat and sauce did not taste ANYTHING like curry, I am not sure WHAT I ate. And now the topper: I was charged $18.00 for that.... what was it again? The Buffet cost you $20.00 and you can at least get COLESLAW or MUSHROOMS. Well my husband made the better choice I guess. Live and learn. I will sure pass this place by next time and find an Indian Restaurant that will accommodate their clientele.

I was very leery about going to this restaurant - its located in deserted looking strip mall but I was very pleasantly surprised! It is nicely decorated and the facilities are fairly clean despite how run-down the strip malls exterior was. The food was fairly priced and the flavorful. I cant say that it is the best Indian food that I have ever had but it was good. I have yet to try their buffet though and will update this review when I do. Ambiance: 4/5 above average - I would almost consider it elegant but not classy. Service: 4/5 above average - there was only one other table when I was here so we received lots of attention from the server. Food: 3/5 average - the food was good but unfortunately nothing about it really jumped out at me as being "wow-ing". The sauces were creamy and rich but the ingredients were only average and there really wasnt anything about it that I can say was distractingly bad but nothing that was really great either. Update: I have finally been to their lunch buffet and am surprised to report that that "deserted looking strip mall" was packed when I went during the day! Also, I am pleased to report that their lunch buffet was very satisfying. The lunch buffet menu consists of all the traditional Indian dishes as well as large selection of vegetarian dishes. Plus, their buffet had a good variety in terms of mild vs. spicy dishes which made it very satisfying for everybody.

I have eaten at Taj a number of times and never really liked it, but I live around the corner now and I was in the mood for Indian lunch buffet. I prefer the vegetarian items at a lunch buffet, because its usually the first meal of the day for me. The flavors of the lentil soup, channa masala (chick pea curry), and saag paneer were not very pleasant. There is no subtlety to the recipes here. The chef/owner is a sullen man who rarely smiles (I call him "Smiley") but he hadnt seen me in a while so he was friendly. If youre more into the meats, such as chicken or lamb, you might like this restaurant more than I did. I had one taste of the chicken curry and it was pretty good. Im spoiled because Im in Central Florida often and there are 2 Indian restaurants in the NE Orlando area that have delicious vegetarian items in their lunch buffets, and theyre cheaper too. Despite how close I live to Taj, I will not go back again. Unless you want all meat dishes, stay away.

I just recently ate at Taj and had the lunch buffet, though it did not have a lot of selection, the food was good, esp the chicken curry. I have never ate Indian Food so I did not know what to expect. Overall, I thought their food was tasty and I will probably come back. Not sure how I feel about Indian food yet, but after going a couple times, Ill decided if I officially like it or not. Good service though, the workers there were attentive, cleared the tables every time we went back up and got more food.

I am a huge fan of Indian food and I have to say the buffet here is some of the best I have ever had and at a very reasonable price. The selection doesnt vary too much which I enjoy because they have all of my favorite staples at this buffet from Chana Masala to a wonderful Chicken Tikki. The atmosphere is very unique and inviting and the staff very accommodating. I havent ever ordered from the menu or gone during evening hours but if the buffet is any indication I would definitely recommend them.

Ive been there twice hoping it was just a fluke the first time. The staff is a little creepy and seem upset youre there. The food is very small portions which is odd considering what they charge for it. None of what we ordered tasted "right" and I think they just throw together what they have laying around. In no way/shape/form is it the good and abundant Indian food Ive had at other places.
