On these lovely autumn weekends, watching the game with a lively crowd can be the recipe for the perfect day. Often, though, an attempt to do so can result with you immersed in a sea of drunk, sweaty individuals yelling obscenities at the TV and wiping their greasy bar food fingers on the closest thing to them. Fret not, for the recently opened Highland Tap and Burger, serves as the perfect football oasis for you and your friends. Located at 2219 West 32nd Ave. on the edge of the Highlands and Downtown, this bar is close enough for any football junkie. The space is open, sunny and clean with roll up glass garage doors for warm fall afternoons. The TV’s are large (an understatement) and plentiful. The staff even labels each TV at the beginning of the day, so you know which games are playing on which. The crowd is friendly and high energy, and strangers become friends fast. If you are a beer lover, you have a plethora of over 20 beers on tap and 60 beers in all to choose from, many of which are brewed right here in Colorado. If you are more concerned with your pocket, they offer cold Coors Lights for a mere $2.00. If you came to eat, then the options are plentiful and fresh. They boast a reasonably priced menu with everything from rich IPA macaroni and cheese to fresh mixed greens salads. A personal favorite is their grilled artichoke accented with a truffle aioli, but the highlight of the menu is their plethora of signature burgers. They have all the fixings; from pulled pork to beef to vegetarian, with all ingredients coming from local Colorado farms and ranchers. Next time you are ready to watch a game, but would prefer something a little different, try out Highland Tap and Burger. This sunny oasis will fill your stomach, wet your palette, and satisfy your football appetite.

We walked in and were standing between two tables of people eating...there is no atrium or hostess. We had to track down a waiter to find a table in the place. There seems to be no manager or anyone in charge. The atmosphere is loud and chaotic. we just ended up sitting ourselves. Beer menu was pretty good, but the odell house m=beer is the only reasonably priced beer so it will likely be the only one i ever order. As far as the food goes, the burger menu was extensive and confusing, so we went with the wings. The wings arrived promptly but were stacked in some vertical manner that was reminiscent of a Jenga game. Once we were able to get in there, the meat fell off the bones like they were soap covered. I dont know about your previous experiences, but where Im from, they provide moist towelettes with your wings for your fingers when youre done. My fingers still smell like I stuck my hands in a grill. No one provided me with a scotch glass for the alcohol that I brought myself. I did not want to bother the wait staff with a complicated drink order beyond beer since it was not explicitly stated whether or not they served hard alcohol given the title of the restaurant. Overall, I feel like I gave Highland Tap and Burger an open mind and am still considering whether or not I will be returning.

This place was highly MEDIOCRE! I have been there twice and both times my burger was overcooked and lacked any real flavor. The second, and most recent time I ordered this: (This is the exact menu description) Shroom Luva’s – “HTB Season Salt” sauteed mushroom blend with, Ementhaler cheese and truffled aioli…9 ½ Try with shaved foie gras and see why it was the People’s Choice winner at Denver Burger Battle. . .+12 The mushroom blend tasted like it was nothing but sauteed button mushrooms and I couldnt even see or taste the foie gras on the burger (and I looked). The burger was...well, just as I stated above, highly mediocre. You can imagine my utter shock, then, when I realized that I had misread the menu and realized the burger with the foie gras was not $12, but that the foie gras was a $12 dollar ADD-ON! You remember, the invisible, un-tastable foie gras? This made my overcooked, mostly flavorless burger $23.50 after tax. REDICULOUS!! I recommend heading down the street a bit to Parkburger if you are looking for a good burger, or anywhere else really. HTB is just not that good. I truly am not sure where these other reviewers are actually eating. Oh, and the bar just reeked of a sour drain smell too. Mmmmm...delicious.

The Highland Tap & Burger is a family favorite and welcoming to all people, all ages. Yes its a sports bar! With rotating handles of excellent craft beer, including domestic and imported favorites. Does it get crowded? It sure does, which is why it is THE PLACE to watch your favorite sports team with friends, or by yourself, without feeling alone. So you can expect it to be loud at times with high energy, a diversified good looking crowd and a bustling staff. There is always something new and fresh on the menu with creative libations from behind the bar. HTB is not a one-man-show but rather a conglomerate group of intelligent, savvy and intuitive business partners who care about their neighborhood and are actively involved in the product they deliver to the community. If your experience is unfavorable, speak up dont blog about it later. Check out The HTB Run Club & Crafty Ladies Beer Club You know youve had a good time at The Tap when you look at your receipt and youve purchased "dog treats" and you dont own a dog! Note: I am a Salon Owner in Wheat Ridge, not an employee of HTB, just a fan and Crafty Lady.

I do not recommend coming here for a burger. I asked for no tomoatos and extra lettuce - my server decided to charge me for lettuce. That was the icing on the cake of a bad experience (dont worry, we still tipped well-but that definitely doesnt reflect the service/experience)! My friends burger was extremely under cooked, and when he said something about it, she responded that he should have ordered it well done. (She didnt ask us how we wanted it cooked, we assumed it would be like every other burger- cooked medium!) The only reason I went here was to see if Lauren, a new bartender, was working, because he has a reputation for excellence, but he was not there. Which was very unfortunate, because my server has zero beer knowledge (its crucial to know what a beer tastes like, we are in Colorado after all). I recommend driving a little farther down the street to Parkburger, not as many beer choices, but they have service with a smile (also was lacking in my experience) and they wont charge you a dollar extra for LETTUCE.

I was really looking forward to eating here. The service was poor as well as ambiance of the place. It was dirty and service was extremely slow. Our waitress took forever to take our order and deliver it. She never came back to check k on us, we ran out of water and drinks. When she came she never offered to refill or ask if we needed anything else. Funny I could hear her talking right along with the rest of the staff in the kitchen. At least 10 people standing back there talking and no helping out. Horrible service. ...the food was not what I expected. ...I ordered the chile....way to much cumin and very blah. Burger was very burnt. I wasnt the only one in the group. The fries were supposed to be seasoned. Nope nothing. ...no flavor. Overall if youre looking for flavor or good food , any service and ambiance this is not the place. I was really disappointed because I really was looking forward to eating here. I seen reviews and heard about it. Cant always believe what you hear or read.
