The moment I walked into Powells I was smitten. I shopped there for years and recommended it to all of my friends constantly. Until one ill-fated day... I was on my way to a movie and decided to stop in real quick to get some candy. I was one of the last customers of the night. I was in a huge rush and never even noticed that the cashier had forgotten to put my candy back on the counter or hand it back to me after weighing it. Early the next morning I called the store and asked if theyd found the candy or if they could just reimburse me my $5. The manager argued with me for a full ten minutes insisting that it was all MY fault that Id walked out of the store without my purchase and that there was no way he would give me back my money or the equivalent in candy. Working with the public for many years now I consider myself somewhat of an expert on customer service, having won awards for my own service with the public. This guy really has no business managing any kind of business when blaming a customer and being terribly rude the entire time. Id really like to ask him how much his time is worth, because he spent a lot of it criticizing me, and what the value of a return customer who refers his store to all of her friends is. Id like to assure you all that it is worth way more than a measly $5. Powells Sweet Shoppe in San Luis is no longer going to get any of my business or any referrals from me. My advice, avoid the manager at all costs; he shouldnt be dealing with the general public.

Really tasty gelato. Super friendly staff. I was greeted and served by a very knowledgeable young man, Tantum. He explain the gelato process and difference with ice cream and allowed me to sample each kind I asked for. It was my first time here and I will definitely be coming back

Very clean and enticing candy shop. They also serve gelato, also very good. Willie wanka and the chocolate factory gets played in the store too. There is a good selection candies and goodies

Theyve got a whole wall of various candies that you pay by weight. Very reasonable and the selection changes regularly with some candies that stay consistent like sour belts.
