The Vitale hotel is unique in the city and offers views that no many other hotels do. The Americano offers a wide menu of Italian and California -fusion food. The location is perfect, and this is the ideal scenario for a hot day afternoon or happy hour after work, the patio opens up and they have bars outside so its fun, happening and great way to socialize with San Franciscans. On the weekends is a little more quiet but I really recommend their signature drinks and their burger! Try out, you wont be disappointed. Just went back this week with the great weather in the city and it is the best spot for an afternoon with friends. Hope to go back there before weather cools down. Perfect outdoor space! But they should have the bar outside as they sometimes do on Fridays... service was a little slow because of that.

I went here for happy hour drinks last Friday and it was a lot of fun. This is a beautiful venue, in Hotel Vitale, right across the street from the water and ferry building. The ambience was upscale but not snobby. The crowd was professional and laid back as well. It was pretty crowded for happy hour and there were only two bartenders working so it took some time to get our drinks. That being said the Mojito I had was very good. The patio was open (only until 6:30 because they had an event) and we found seats pretty quickly even though we had a fairly large group (around 8 people). We just had two rounds of drinks before getting moved from the patio but I will definitely be returning!

This place is underrated and deserves to be on the radar for good food, specifically at the restaurant. Even when the bar and patio are buzzing, the restaurant is almost always nearly empty or at most half full. Which is sad because it is so good. Seasonal, confident food that knows its good. Go straight to the bottom of the menu and get the most expensive entrees, usually there are two options. Enjoy the comfortable (though not buzzy) seating area with someone you really want to talk to. Let the people outside play the meat market while you enjoy your real conversation and good food. Did I mention a view of the bay bridge?

I eat here about once a month and really like the place. They make a few dishes extremely well. My first favorite is the steak salad, which features medium rare well-seared steak and some tangy leaves with deep fried polenta (which I usually pass on). My second favorite is the fried Brussels sprout appetizer, which probably isnt great for you heart, but which tastes amazing on the way down. Also in that category are the skinny, crisp french fries. Yum. The outdoor bar is fun any time its not too chilly, and its a real scene on nice Thursday and Friday evenings in the summer.

Food was good, but the service was terrible. I informed the waiter that I have a dairy allergy right away. He helped me pick out a meal that didnt have dairy no problem. When the food came, my dished was mixed up with a similar dish that had tons of dairy. I ate half of it until I noticed him looking at me funny. Only after I asked.did he tell me they mixed up our plates. I then waited 20 minutes for a proper dish at which point everyone else was done. Barely even an apology. Will not go back ever. Over priced for this bad of service. I feel terrible after eating all that dairy.

El lugar está casi enfrente del Ferry Building viendo hacia la Bahía. Y el Embarcadero. Tiene una agradable terraza cerca de la calle. La comida está bien. Pleasant terrace next to the street by the Bay. Almost in front of the Ferry Building. Food is fine. Venue is great.

Been here for both dinners and happy hours. Happy hours attract both the financial crowd and tech crowd, and is great to enjoy outdoors if the weather is ok, where you can sit on nice wood benches by the heaters and drink tasty drinks. Dinner is pricey but most dishes are worth it in my book. Servers tend to be a little cool at first, but warm right up. Food (esp. the roasted chicken!) is very good, usually very "melt-in-your-mouth", and wine pairings tend to match the quality of food. Take a nice date here for a modern, city by the bay vibe

Got here around 5pm & there were still a few open tables for 2 outside on the patio, sweet! Theres plenty of patio seating for large groups too. Right on the Embarcadero, close up view of the Bay Bridge, perfect for hump Weds. Luckily the weather was nice. Not too windy. And they do have heat lamps. I got a cocktail and my man had a Sierra. We shared a few small plates off of the 3 for $21 menu. The padron peppers were salty & lime-y - they were yummy! Our total bill was $40 w/o tip. Good vibes, def a great after work spot.

The quintessential Marina/Financial district happy hour joint. And one Ive opened up to over the years. I used to hate this place. My older brother loved it. We often find ourselves on opposites sides of the taste spectrum when it comes to the scenes we like. But as Ive gotten older, Ive begun to enjoy this place more and more. Good looking people. Always crowded. Always at least a fun time. Grab a spot outside early - they fill up quickly. And there are times Ive found myself there well past happy hour...

On my first visit I had a delicious, well-spiced house-ground burger. The crispy brussel sprouts & artichoke hearts were amazing. On my second visit I had the Miso Glazed Black Cod, which was quite tasty, and came with a few shrimp dumplings that were excellent. I wish the meal had some starch like rice though. The dining room is quite elegant, and they have a private party room too. They add a 4% health surcharge, which I always find somewhat dishonest - this really ought to be rolled into the prices.

Quite pretentious and corporate. Not very diverse, kind of a stifling atmosphere, not a good place really to come and make friends as it is a total after work yuppie happy hour spot. Food and drinks are quite pricey, we just had drinks, didnt try the food. Waitstaff was attentive but service quite slow as the place is popular. Definitely a bit too posh for my liking. Maybe once I get rich and famous I will change my mind... but until then... Ill skip it.

I visited the Americano with a group last night. Three of us (including me) had something to eat. All three of us ended up having a really miserable day today with nausea, stomach ace, shakes, cold sweat and diarrhea. The others who didnt eat at the same time did not get anything, and the three of us didnt eat anywhere else, so I have to assume that this must be some level of food poisoning we got at the Americano. I will not go there again.
