I go to Corti for the butcher and deli. The store is more pricey than a normal grocery store, so if youre in a rush or looking for the cheapest option, go elsewhere (and if you order something and walk out without inquiring about it, youre clearly a terrible person). Reading some of the previous reviews is pretty annoying as the customers who reviewed them clearly dont understand that Corti is an independent specialty grocer not a damn Walmart Superstore. Back to the good stuff. Their butcher counter is second to none. The workers behind the counter can offer you advice on any question you have (what meat to cook, how to cook it just right, and what to serve it with). They have great customer service. When you walk up, grab a number and explore the display cases. My normal routine is to immediately fill out, and drop off my sandwich order for the Corti Special ($4.99), and then walk over to the butcher counter to get something tasty for dinner. The deli has about 10 or so sandwiches to pick from that are more expensive. For the Corti Special you choose your bread, cheese, toppings, and condiments, while the sandwich maker picks whatever meat they are serving at the moment. The sandwich is always good, but sometimes it is absolutely kick ass. My sandwich today had so much turkey, salami, AND Prosciutto on it that I could barely eat it like a normal sandwich. It was the inspiration for this review (seriously I had to write this after that sandy). In closing, if you are in the vicinity and are in need of high quality meat and/or sandwiches I would highly recommend going to Corti Bros. They also have a wide selection of wine/beer/spirits with employees assigned to the department specifically to help with your purchasing choices and questions. They are a Sacramento establishment, and you should try to make a stop their just to have the experience.

Theres is no better store in America for meats, fishes/shellfish, olive oil and specialty oils, true balsamic vinegar and other specialty vinegars, a deli case, the cheese case, a variety of butters, and imported/handmade pastas. And thats just whats on the shelf for the taking! You can pretty well special order anything youd like, too, if its part of Italian cuisine. During the holidays, they have the finest heritage turkeys, white truffles, and good panettone (not the dried-out stuff that passes for it everywhere else). They always have air-chilled, free-range chickens in the house, and sometimes duck. During flush times over the past 30 years, I shopped there weekly. But even now, its worth saving up for fine quality: eat less, but eat the best, works for me. If you get the chance, get there after Mike, a long-time butcher, makes his own Mikes Mix ground beef. A list of which meats, with their fat percentages, sits right on the counter. Other than grinding your own special favorite, its the best Ive ever tasted. All the employees are not only friendly, theyre very knowledgeable and eager to help. Every request, no matter how picky, is, "No problem." While youre there, might as well pick up some 1"+ pork chops, and even thicker New York strips. Now Im hungry. Dont go there before supper, though, because youll spend way too much. The aromas are to die for.

One of the worse Delis. I went to Corti Bros today for lunch. Crowded Deli, as I anticipated. I walked up to the ticket device to pull a number, turns out all I needed to do was fill out a form. So I picked up a form and started circling the items I wanted for my sandwich. I asked the clerk who I would give the form to. Clerk said it goes on a black plate that is set on the counter. So I did. I waited for a clerk to pick up my order form and waited and waited and waited. Ten minutes go by and still waiting. Not one clerk bothered to even look at the plate set on the counter to pick up my order form. Im hungry and I only have one hour to eat lunch. Another 5 minutes went by and I just said screw this. I grabbed my order form, ripped it up and threw it away as I walked out. Drove across the street to get food and was assisted IMMEDIATELY. I will never in my life go back to that place. One of the worst delis Ive been to.

Pretends to be an "Italian" food store. Has a few (Very few) Italian items in stock, almost all of them of minor Italian brands and priced horribly high. A special mention goes to the deli department, that stocks a very good Italian Cooked Ham... With the problem that the owner specifically instructed the workers to NOT EVER take the skin out before slicing the ham. Hes afraid to lose a few pennies, probably. Now... *I AM* Italian, born and lived there for 40 years and a thing like this has NEVER happened to me, in the old country. The skin of the ham is not edible and MUST be taken off BEFORE slicing, doing like Corti does, to us Italians, is like spitting on the thing while slicing it. Cheap people, almost unknown and overpriced items, close to the expiration date.

We have been long standing customers of Corti Brothers for many years. The excellent staff at Corti Brothers take great pride in making sure that they offer the charm of the old world market place, as a customer you feel like you walked back in time. Love the deli section! Fresh Ricotta & Mozzarella cheeses , great sandwiches, fantastic olive selection and much more. We have been buying our Thanksgiving turkey , Easter hams here for many years. The butchers in the meat section are some of the best around! Very good seafood & meat selections . The Thai sauce ( made in house ) marinated prawns are delicious. Of course , one cannot leave out the extensive wine selection when talking about Corti Bros. Gave 4 stars only because non-specialty items are much more expensive here than at a regular grocery store .

Love this place! I have been searching for a neighborhood type grocery store for years in Sacramento that reminded me of Browns Valley Market back home. Corti Bros has everything you need. The meat department is full of fresh cuts. The deli is slinging delicious sandwiches. Cort Bros has a HUGE beer selection with craft, domestic, imports. The Wine department. This is what won me over. Though it takes up a small corner of the store, the wine selection is top notch and the prices are very reasonable! Corti Bros has earned a new, regular shopper.

The best deli in Sacramento, hands down. If you want to order a sandwich, do it online as it can get kind of busy in there. If youre going for cold cuts, try the Molinari stuff, which is made in San Francisco! The butchers counter is very good too. They are happy to help and answer your questions. The store itself is the best place for specialty ingredients in Sacramento. If they dont have it, youre probably not going to find it. Their weekly sales come out on Wednesdays so be sure to check their website before going!
