It was a beaut of a day. We decided to go to downtown Placerville for lunch. Placerville has lots of great restaurants now. We parked in the convenient garage. The streets were filled with people. We saw Old Town Grill and entered. You order at the front. The grill was being worked by a couple of pros. They were awesome and talked to customers while working the flames. We seated ourselves in the cute outdoor patio. I had the Chicken Pesto with Garlic Fries and my wife had the Salmon salad. The food was superb. Ive had Garlic Fries before but not like these; these were like twice fried or something. Definitely not french fries with raw garlic dumped on. The garlic was like cooked first or something. The sandwich was on a baguette or frocia bread with lettuce, tomato, and pesto. The chicken was cooked perfect. Wife wanted mine but hers was awesome too. I took pictures of the cooks but I blew it somehow. They have lots of cast iron pans hanging.

Welcome to flavor country. Looking for the best burger in El Dorado County. Here it is at the Old Town Grill. Owner and maker of the hearty meals,Jonathan, is a humble and gracious chef and host. The staff is so friendly and makes you feel very welcome upon your arrival. The milkshakes are made thick and creamy the old fashioned way. So good. The burgers are made with quality beef and the fries made to order. The grill also offers daily specials. You can even enjoy buffalo or elk. Definitely out of my comfort zone but worth the try. Enjoy old town Placerville comfort food. You too will want to become a regular. But the grill is only open from 11am-3pm daily, so plan your day to enjoy a great lunch. Also, as a side note, there is a back patio for a relaxing meal on those sunny and beautiful days in El Dorado County.

WOW!! The Old Town Grill ... Is the place to eat a real hamburger. I ordered the mushroom burger. It was delicious. The flavor of the beef really came through. The additional fresh ingredients only enhanced the burger. I enjoyed it so much I didnt want it to end. The other people in my party couldnt stop saying how much they really liked it. My only complaint... Not enough French fries. They had a nice crunch. Loved them too. I wouldnt call this fast food... Its good food. The staff and chef are helpful and friendly. If you want delicious, you will want to try this place.

This has been my go-to place since before I went away to college in 2003. Every time I come home now, I make a special trip for a burger and a friendly chat/ big hug from the wonderful owner. I just love everything about this place. The elk burger (when it is in season) is by far my favorite but I have never had anything bad there. Definitely recommend this place if you are just passing through or if you are a Sacramento local, like me, heading up to Apple Hill on the weekends. GO TRY IT!!!!

We went rafting on the South Fork this weekend and took our first trip to Placerville; we went to Old Town Grill based on online reviews. These were seriously the best burgers we have ever had and we will definitely be going back when we go back to the cabin we rented there. So amazing I cannot even tell you. I had the Blue Cheese Burger-- just awesome! The service was so efficient and friendly. We were pleasantly surprised. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Great food! Others have commented on the burgers. We had the "chicken hand" - a butterflied whole breast in panko crumbs, amusing and pretty tasty. Our favorite was the special, a grilled chicken breast with grilled spinach, tomato, and parmesan on a bun. This was awesome, the chicken was perfectly grilled, still incredibly juicy, and the spinach was fully wilted but not mush ... the combination was perfect. Even the spinach haters at the table liked it.

Went there last week for lunch, not too busy . Cashier said about a 15 minute wait. Ordered 2 burgers and 1 curly fry, ended up being close to 50 mind later when we received our meal. Our hamburgers were very dry . Think the cook was talking to some customers causing our food to get cold. I remember just a couple of years ago this place was yummy. Unhappy locals will not be going back.

Our family has been having lunch there regularly since 2001, and I claim John Sanders (owner) and his family have never made a dish I wouldnt happily enjoy. And, now that John has acquired the Smith Flat House, (just East of Placerville), he has a more formal dining setting with an entire new range of options...and great, live music that never overrides your dinner table conversation.

As far as Im concerned they have the best burgers in town. The service is fast and the staff is great. My only words of advice: BRING CASH. They use one of those portable ATM machines where you have to take cash out in 10s, 20s etc. There is a $1.50 surcharge at the machine and you get charged again by your CC company so you end up paying around 5 extra bucks to just use a card.

I have eaten at The Old Town Grill dozens of times and have never had a bad meal. The staff is great and you feel like you are being served but old friends and family. The daily specials are great and the is always something new to try. The owners John, Debbie and there daughter are great and greet every customer like old friends. So go, eat, enjoy and have a great time.

We tripped right over this gem on a motorcycle trip with a group of 7. Arriving just before close (3:00) the owner, John Sanders couldnt have been more cordial or inviting! We had such a good time and the food was excellent. We were overjoyed to find this haven on our trip. Good time was had by all! Everything was enjoyed by all! Hope to see you again.

Placerville has of late become quite the culinary destination. On top of the heap of truly terrific restaurant choices, is John and his Old Town Grill. Bison or elk hamburger? Delicious! Try the spiced fries and have a cold one. Youll not only love the food, youll never forget the friendly attention and warmth of the place. :)

Super friendly staff. Amazing service. Burgers were fantastic. I had a sausage stuffed burger and the two people who were with me got bacon cheese burgers. The fries were hot and delicious. The burgers were fantastic. Extremely happy we stopped here on the way to South Shore for lunch. Would highly recommend.

A great experience. Everyone in my family enjoyed their burger. The staff was quick and friendly. We found parking in one of the nearby Placerville parking structures. Id definitely return.
