Last night my husband and I had dinner at the Cafe for New Years. We live in the area and have had dinner there several times since they opened years ago.We appreciate that it is in the "hood" and we would like to support it. We have loved this restaurant, although pricy, over the years and would go there for special occasions. The food was excellent and the portions were abundant without taking a lot of food home. Ambiance kinda noisy but pleasant. It has changed..... I had made reservations and had forgotten to leave our phone number and called early in the day to check on them. The person working that morning was nice enough to squeeze us in for 7:00 dinner. We had to wait a little while to be seated. To be expected on New Years. This time I brought my own seat cushion because the chairs are not padded and quite frankly I get tired of sitting on a hard wooden chair for the time it takes to have a nice dinner. The service staff seemed to be too busy, but reasonably prompt with the crab cakes (the best Ive ever tasted) and soup, but it took forever to get our entree. Seems like there must have been a backup in the kitchen. The food was very good, but the entree seemed like a pittance; a small pile in the center of the plate with 3 tiny veggies. We walked out paying over $120 with tip. We left at 8:30 taking the dessert with us having been there an hour and a half. Long time to sit....

Great food, all of us had very satisfying dishes. However, the main drawback was the highly irritating rock n roll music that was playing. Not what one wants to listen to while experiencing a fine, pricey restaurant. In the past, they played really good classical jazz music playing, which thoroughly enhanced the dining experience. If that were the case again, I would give them 5 stars – the music makes or breaks an evening out.

Been wanting to go here for a while. They did not disappoint at all. What a great little place. The food was amazing. Love the bold flavors and variety. My husband and I had the price fix 4 course dinner for $34. It was a great value and was like trying a little bit of everything. They also offer a full menu. Prices are great for what you receive, high quality food. Wonderful atmosphere. We are definitely going again.

Wow, weve been regulars here as its the closest restaurant to us and weve always loved the food so I was extremely disappointed when I called today to place a to-go order and was told by the waiter they were to busy for a to go order! Ive never heard such a thing especially at 5:00 at night before the dinner rush. Maybe they should hire more people for the summer busy season rather than turn away business?

We had a great meal! The restaurant is in a local historic structure that has been lovingly restored to preserve the character of the original building. There were six or seven of us and I got a taste of several different plates and thought it was all excellent. All of the items were fresh and tasty. Everything is cooked on site including the bread and deserts. Dont miss the cheesecake!

Excellent food, and a beautiful old historic building. Unfortunately the restaurant is VERY loud and the service is a bit on the slow side. They do not flip the tables during the evening, so make a reservation and plan to enjoy a long liesurely dinner. Really the only downside was the noise level.

Weve been here twice and both times have been outstanding. The food is absolutely delicious with a beautiful presentation. We love it, but end up only going on special occasions because of the price...it is worth the money though, in my opinion.

The food is either something youll love or hate not much to offer for someone looking for a steak or salmon. Just too rich a blend of unique flavors for my taste. Odd I really liked the menu when they first opened then it went more euro.
