This place has gone downhill in the past few months! Service was slow an inattentive during my last 2 meals here. Last night the food was only so-so. The fried shrimp ("seven stars") were soggy, not from the sauce, but soaked with oil as if they had not been fried hot enough to get crisp. It took fifteen minutes into dinner to get get a drink menu, awhile longer to get someone to take the drink order, and then found out several minutes after placing the drink order that they were out of the first wine I picked. I used to have a higher opinion of this place.

Todays lunch was barely warm, parts were still cold and our server was horrible... from all appearances, he hates his job... we didnt request anything extra of him and he seemed put out simply to bring our food. Mine arrived 1st and my husbands, about 10 min. later... it also took forever (until we were done eating) to get a water refill. The food was nothing special either. This is the 2nd time this same server has acted like this, Very disappointing. Both visible servers in the place today were more involved in sitting down to eat their own meals.

My husband and I were in Old Town Elk Grove and stopped in at Happy Garden for lunch. He ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and I ordered the Curry Chicken. The food was just ok; however, it was extremely salty, more than I have ever experienced at a Chinese restaurant. Customer service is poor in this establishment. Our waiter did not make us feel welcome or even as much as smile. It seemed as though hed rather play with his cell phone than check on his customers.

Happy Garden has the best Chinese food in the region hands down. We have patronized numerous Chinese restaurants in the Sacramento/Elk Grove region and we always fall back on Happy Garden to be the barometer of great food. Sesame Chicken is spot on. Love their Pot Stickers. Andy (the owner) is pretty much always there and the staff are super friendly and attentive.

I have been to the Happy Garden many times and recently went there the day before Thanksgiving with family visiting from out of town...always great food and service...plus we left our iPad there and they kept it safe for us until today when realized we had left it on the chair...very glad to add "honesty" to their good food and great service :)

I grew up loving Chinese food. I then discovered Thai and Vietnamese and was kind of over Chinese. But, then I found the Happy Garden. Brought my love for Chinese back! I judge a place by their pot stickers and honey walnut prawns. Both are awesome here. Oh, and they make a mean mushu pork. Havent been disappointed by any other dishes...

The Sizzling rice soup actually sizzles and you can expect more wonderful Delights in other dishes. The Salted deep fried wings are fantastic and the Mongolian beef is hard to pass up each time I visit. Weekends can be busy but dont worry you get the same great quality every night of the week.

This place is always full of customers. Fresh quality and great taste. Thankful that they offer "to go" so we can eat at home. (Fussy baby) The owner is there every time we go. You can tell he really cares about the place.

Service was horrible. The fried rice is some of the worst across the country. My beef and broccoli had no flavor. The egg rolls taste like the came from Sams Club. Do not eat here unless you like bad food and bad service.

Lunch today with grandchildren (sweet and sour chicken) was wonderful. Plenty to eat and leftovers to bring home. Excellent service, fair price, good food. One if our Elk Grove favorites.

Really good Chinese food. Won ton soup is really good as well as the crab cream cheese wontons. Great place for take out when you dont want to cook. Have not had one bad dish here.

Had a wonderful lunch here. Very nice atmosphere and the food was very good. Parking can be difficult but it is worth it. We will definitely be back to eat here.
