Walked in and was greeted with a male waiter/server who said we dont have any space to seat your party, and then he walked away. Awesome....We chalked it up to him having a bad day. A female server then came out who appeared nicer and told us that another big group just came in and beat us to the larger tables. No problem. There was a small booth next to us that opened so we decided to grab it for 1/2 of our party. The male literally threw the menus down on the table. I asked the female server if we could take a nearby booth to accomodate the other 1/2 of our party once the folks at that booth vacated it. She said "well, well have to see...." At that time, a couple got up and vacated a nearby booth, which the not so friendly male waiter began cleaning off. I asked the waiter if we could utilize that booth too. He told me that if another party at the door came in first that they should get it. I told him politely that we were there first. He then rudely stated to me that if our entire party is not there (which they were waiting outside because of the minimal waiting space inside) that they could not hold it. He, nor the female server did nothing to even attempt to accommodate us (party of 9, which is really only 2 booths). At that point, we could see that the customer service (greeting and seating) in this establishment was the worst wed seen and had enough. Problably not the best way to handle it, but I facetiously smiled and thanked the male server for all his help and warm hospitality, and then my family walked out. Whether they were having a bad day or not, we (or anyone else) who was planning to enjoy a wonderful breakfast with our family, should not have been treated that way. I will never step foot in this place ever again and will recommend to everyone to do the same. I would also encourage the owner to have a customer service refresher with the servers and wait staff, so they dont lose further customers. I only put one star because I had to in order to add a review, but this place really deserves no stars from us...

One of the few old diners left in Seattle. When I was a young girl, my father worked nearby the Mecca and we would come here sometimes for lunch. The booths were red glitter with yellow tables. When I was a teen I came here with my friends for dinner and my boyfriend would order the "Hunters Plate" loaded with ham steak, bacon, sausage, etc...and we would enjoy the retro ambiance of the place. Then I went to the Mecca on my first date with my husband in 1993. By then it had become a popular "dive bar" and re-invented itself with dark booths, checked floors and so much smoke you could hardly see through the room. Tonight my husband and I were there - and the Mecca continues to be a popular late night bar and cafe. We love the vibe in here. Fortunately for us its not as crazy as it was 25 years ago. We ate diner breakfasts (less than $12 for a full breakfast, and you can get a plain burge w/ small fries for $6) and we drank quite a bit...Mecca makes strong drinks. Dont bother ordering a double...theyll wonder where youre from. My 7&7s were only $8 each!! Service was excellent - our waiter was a doll and hyper multi-tasking. The Mecca is one of the last slices of old Seattle thats left for me to enjoy. Thank you for still being here!

My girlfriend and I tried to come here after the Stevie Nicks concert on December 11. She is partially deaf, and due to the crowd and smallness of the space, did not hear the door man when he popped out to check our IDs (he wasnt in her line of sight). I had to get her attention and repeat that he wanted her ID. After a long time of scrutinizing both of our IDs, he turned us away. I asked why, and he accused my girlfriend of being intoxicated. ...We hadnt even been drinking. We had to leave, embarrassed and humiliated, as many more people clogged the doors behind us. We ended up walking to another bar down the road, instead. Funny enough, we werent even there to drink. We were just cold and wanted to order an appetizer or some waters to wait out Uber surge pricing. Im still so angry about this, and wish I had pressed my point. We moved to Seattle 6 months ago, and Ive never been treated like this anywhere.

The waitress Carrie is absolutely wonderful friendly sweet and very good at her job the restaurant was slammed packed and she was able to keep everyone happy and smiling with minimal waiting time if you are to go here for anything aside from food you should go for her service :) however the kitchen manager I believe her name is Janice she is very rude narcissistic and an apparent perfectionist nothing is ever her fault ever and she is very quick to pass blame onto her fellow employees also dealing with her in a close vicinity it is very easy to tell that she has been drinking heavily and recently the last time she spoke to me face to face it smelled like someone had opened a fresh bottle of liquor directly in front of me and was wafting it in front of my nose

Food is good, and our waitress was fabulous. What was NOT fabulous was attempting to use their teeny tiny and frankly filthy bathroom, and having the bartender/manager DUDE (in the womens? Really?) pound on the door like a S.W.A.T. officer and demand I wake the F@#$ up and get the hell out! I replied with not asleep, and DEFINITELY not drunk, you jerk! The reply? "I dont care what you think! Quit passing out and get the F@#$ out of my bathroom! Id had nary a drop of alcohol, and I do not appreciate being treated like a drunkard when Im just trying to pee. I like this place, but not sure I will come back if they think that letting their employees treat customers this way is acceptable.

The waiter/bartender was one of the surliest and slowest moving individuals Ive ever encountered in my life. We intended on eating here but it was taking so long for him to come back to take our order that we just paid for our drinks and left. We waited 20+ minutes and no food ordered. We saw another couple leave early, too. He seemed to be the only person waiting on tables (it wasnt busy) and he was acting very strange, like he was high or something. We asked him if there was a drink menu and he just said, "No" in an annoyed tone. We had to ask individually, "Do you have X? Y?" and he kept giving one-word answers. No idea how this person is still working there.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Spectacularly bad service...the worst I have experienced in years. I understand this is a dive bar/restaurant but we sat there without being acknowledged for over 15 minutes...there were 2 other tables. I finally had to ask her to take our order...at which point she was rude and hostile. The whole time we were sitting waiting for her to greet us and possibly take our order, she was texting on her phone. People who dont like taking care of people in the restaurant business should find another line of work and spare us their obnoxious attitude and obvious disdain...yes, as a former server myself, I am more than a little pissed.
