I want to bring to your notice about my todays visit to Chennai Cafe, Irving, that went erroneous. We came as 4 families on a single table and ordered for food at the same time. They served the food to 2 families on time but forget to serve to the remaining 2 families. Issue 1: With repeated reminders, we waited for more than 40 minutes when the food is served. By the time, 2 families already had their food and left. Since, they served the Naan at the beginning, so, Naan had already gone cold. None of our fault, as they served Naan before serving Curry. Our request to replace Naan was simply denied. Issue 2: For our friends, who were vegetarian, we ordered veg Briyani. The staff served a non veg curry portion to them. While eating, they got some doubt and clarified if the Curry is veg. Staff insisted that its veg. On exploring it further with a spoon, we found few chicken pieces. This is pathetic, if you cannot entertain your customer preference. Overall, Chennai Cafe spoiled our mood and we felt cheated at the end, as it has nowhere matched customers expectation for the price that we paid for this wonderful experience. You gifted us a life long remembrance. Thanks for that. Hats off.

We had to leave after 45 minutes of waiting. Only one table was occupied when we were seated. After 10 minutes, my wife had to stop a waitstaff and ask if we can order; never checked on us afterwards. Then we sat there watched the transformation of the main dining area into a dance floor, and the hired DJ setup his stand and sound system. The usher came to our table after she noticed our drinks had to be refilled and told us it takes time to heat the lava rocks - after 30 minutes. Im sure my stove can do that in shorter time. There must be about 30 dishes and repeat orders that went past our table. We realized that we still have to cook our food on the hot rock so I asked my wife to give them 15 more minutes to at least check on us or give updates. She did exactly that and walked out when times up - we followed. Adjacent Fast & Furious=1, Stonz = 0. When you see 5 stars without any review or comments, its likely a solicited rating from friends and relatives.

WORST! WORST! WORST!.. We have ordered a party lunch here.. Oh my god! I made a big mistake. The food taste is very worst. I should not say that is taste, there is no taste in the food, instead only spicy. They have made the food only with the chilly powder and we couldnt try too.. Last year, we have given the party order to Chennai cafe which was in the Market Place Blvd. Now it is changed to Madurai Thattu Kadai. With that belief alone, i made a party order in the Stonz Chennai Cafe(newly opened). But the taste is not the same and really it is very worst. More and More spicy. We ordered Veg Briyani, Chilly gobi, Veg Pakoda, Naan, Paneer Curry and Bisibela Bath. From the above dish we throwed Veg Briyani, veg Pakoda, Chilly Gobi. Because it is too spicy. If you order Pakoda here, it is not crispy and crunchy...it is like a noodles and so oily.... Finally if you want to make your party failure, then do a party order here..

Last Night I went there with Friends! A very Nice ambiance, We sat and was waiting for the food once the food came there was no Knife and Fork and I had to ask for it Twice. When I asked they Gave me Spoon and Fork but no Knife!! The First thing we ordered was Paneer chilli, the Paneer chilli could have been little more good rather it was sour, Paneer chilli is never sour, well Next, none of the sever had time to look at the water glasses! It was all empty and we had to ask to fill the glasses again and again. Chappati (Roti) was smelly We had to return it it was like 4 days Old Roti batter yakk! We ordered Chicken Curry. the Chicken in the curry was too much boiled hence we couldnt taste the Chicken chunks because the chicken got dissolved in curry This was Pathetic! Overall Bad Service, Bad Food and Bad Quality. It just looks wonderful coz of ambience But Nothing is good in there.

This is review is for the newly open Irving location at Royal lane. The idli was a like a solid cake made out of clay. The chapathi was like a sheet of rubber Pongal is a mass of boiled rice. The basmati rice was as dry as sand. There are gazillion items to attract customers but none of them are tasty or made fully. All items are made for the sole purpose of increasing the count of the items served in the buffet. Few items are ok, Sambhar was ok. Plantain curry was ok. More kuzhambu ( butter milk sambhar ) was good. Ennai kathirikai was good. The ambience and bar scenes matches the price point but not the food. For 18$ price point the food should be as good as the one served in 5 star hotels in India. Thats how it is done in other cities in US, but unfortunately not here. * Review is for Veg options alone.

I just went to Chennai cafe in round rock Austin and I loved the food.. So i wanted to go to Chennai Cafe again because of the variety of dishes they had.. But I am so disappointed, the food was below average considering taste and comparing the price. I wanted medium spicy so i mentioned the server about that but the crab masala i ordered was very spicy and it gave me stomach pain moreover when i asked the server why its so spicy he said its already prepared so its like that... we ordered shrimp masala and it was also below average too.. There are much better Indian restaurants in Irving. I guess its not for everyone. Not worth it..

We took a chance on this because the place we planned to go had a line. WHAT A WONDERFUL DISCOVERY! I think my wife and I were the only non-indian people in the place (staff or customers), so Ill interpret that meaning its authentic. We shared an appetizer and two entrées that were all delicious. The only complaint was my cultural desire to have my water iced, so a special request was needed. Staff was very nice and food was great. I dont live near here, but will make it a destination next time Im in the DFW area.

My family came to this place for the lunch buffet . The selection was huge, and they managed to keep good quality throughout the buffet. There are a lot of desserts, but I just tried the gulab jamun. It was great! They are pretty good about no waste, the sambar cups are pretty small. There are the usual South Indian appetizers, like samosas, vadas, and bajji. For the non vegetarian food, my dad thought that the biryani and chicken curry was awesome. Anyways, I say this place is great and you should try it.

Worst experience. Dont waste your money and time here. We started with a high note and closed with 2 very bad instances. 1. We were served chicken gravy with veg biriyani. On asking the server he said this is veg curry and has carrot and other veggies. When I showed him the chicken piece he couldnt talk more. 2. My friends were served with naan 30 minutes prior of serving gravy. By the time gravy was served naan was too hard and dry. Upon telling the server, he replied as "We had served it hot".
