We came upon this cozy Italian restaurant by chance one day and now it is one of our favored “go to” places for lunch or dinner in Newport, Rhode Island. My personal favorite is their Spaghetti alla Carbonara, a rich blend of eggs, cream and Parmesan cheese laced with a generous helping of Italian bacon bits and seasoned with just the right amount of crushed black pepper; all coating a healthy serving of firm but tender spaghetti. Another selection that never fails to please is their delicious, thin crusted pizza with a variety of tempting topping combinations; especially the pizza with thin slices of fresh eggplant, mozzarella cheese, tangy tomato sauce and topped with grated Parmesan cheese; a real treat! Another delectable option is their Gnocchi al Pomodoro; large potato dumplings topped with home-style tomato sauce and fresh herbs. Any visit there would not be complete without enjoying one of their fresh made desserts, particularly the mascarpone; a dessert lover’s delight. Adding to the great food and service is the comfort of knowing that the owner, Lucia Tacchi is always at hand. Whether she is overseeing the service in the dining room or greeting customers at the door her presence always adds a personal touch to dinning at Lucia Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria.

We experienced this restaurant on our first night to Newport RI. It was getting late, we have young children and we needed somewhere to eat so we decided to give this place a go. The decor inside seems to be stuck in a different era and our table was crammed in. We had a very strange waiter who was incredibly rude. First we sent the orange juice back as it was a funny brown colour which the waiter took great offence to. Then we placed our food order and watched him as he put a huge, black X through it. No one else got the X as we could see all the food chits hung up in the kitchen which we sat opposite. The pasta was supposed to come in a creamy sauce but in fact it was not only totally tasteless, it was very dry. The waiter made us feel very uncomfortable and kept staring at us from behind the bar. We couldnt wait to leave, I dont think weve ever left a place so quick. Thankfully our experiences of eating in Newport since then have only got better and better and we have stayed clear of Lucias!!

I cant say enough wonderful things about Lucias. Since my first experience at Lucias over 20 years ago (then operating under a different name), I have been consistently impressed with the quality of their food and service. The proprietors put such care and attention to their dishes and their graciousness towards their customers is outstanding among restaurants today. We consider ourselves lucky that we can still enjoy this restaurant without long waits or pretensions. Lucias is a gem and we look forward to eating here whenever were in the area.

Service was poor, our waiter was rude and seemed uninterested in making any effort to do his job correctly, and it was Valentines day! We were watching other people getting offered fresh pepper and parmesean cheese, our waiter brought our food and left before asking us if we needed anything. On top of that it cost over 100$...unless youre rich, skip this place. Food is good though not worth it...

Food was OK.. nothing special. Value was just not there, I realize its Newport but I hate getting ripped off. Shop around, many better places for same price point. Just an example, I got a plain cheese pizza for roughly fifteen dollars, not bad. I added prosciutto and they charged me five dollars extra?!?!!? Un-called for! Service was good, pleasant girls there.

Awesome Italian Food!! I love Newport, RI and have been visiting for years. This year we stumbled upon Lucias Restaurant. What a find! The food was out of this world great. We took our family back three nights in a row! Hands down, the best sauce I have ever had! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Newport.

We simply loved it! There are two dining rooms one of them very elegant the other more causal , but both are welcoming and cozy . The high quality of the food testify of the care and love with which is made. My husband favorite are the Farfalle al Prosciutto and my the Ravioli alla Rucola and the Mascarpone Cheese Mousse.

My husbands pasta was with 3 shrimps, the scalops is not the regular size ider. My husband, me and my BFF was very disappointed. I was there 3 years ago and was good. NEVER GOING AGAIN.

Delicious and authentic Italian food. Found while visiting in the "off" season in Newport. A little overpriced but otherwise definitely worth visiting, especially now that we know they are "BYOB" with low cork fees to bring in your wine. Loved it!

Food was good. Ravioli and pizza was perfect size and filling. Only 4 stars because this is the first time Ive ever been to an Italian restaurant or any restaurant where for a second basket of bread was an additional costs.

Food is really good here. Fresh and authentic. Not a typical Italian place. Lot of vegetarian options. Only complaint I have is they are either under staffed or takes a very long time for food to be served

This was by far one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. The owner was rude and waited an hour and a half to get in and I didnt even get seated. Place should be shut down.

Service was not so great. We ordered a veggie pizza and I loved it but my friend did not. If there is a next time I will try real food. The place is tiny and nothing spectacular.

Nice quite Italian restaurant. We had the ravioli. Both the mushroom and the lobster / shrimp stuffed ravioli were excellent. Good service.

The food was good, and the server was kind. They have a lot of options and even include a vegetarian menu as well as a gluten free one.

We loved the food here, and the service was great too, with the owner even stopping by once to check on us.
