My girlfriend and I were traveling home from Eugene to Portland on a Monday night. We were looking for a decent burger in a friendly, relaxed environment. We chose The Gilgamesh based on the positive food reviews written below. We were drawn to the burgers, but were dubious of the quality of service we would receive based on some of the comments posted. We were quickly seated in their lovely outdoor seating area featuring blooming hydrangeas and a variety of pleasing foliage. To our pleasant surprise, our server, Mighty Mo, was both friendly and attentive throughout our stay at The Gilgamesh. We both ordered the Fire House Burger. It was a tasty combination of flavors and, as the name implies, a bit spicy. Yum! The only detractor was the patty was flat and very well done. We prefer fluffy, fresh ground beef, cooked to a medium rare. We both ordered the specialty cocktail (Old Fashioned with a Twist), but found it a little sweet for our personal tastes. Others palates may vary. All in all: friendly service, in a pleasant environment, with a quick turn-around time (we were in and out in under an hour), and quality food, with minor qualms. Would recommend to a friend.

Staff was non-attentive even though there was plenty of staff. We had to ask for everything, water refills, dressing, check, etc. They wandered around talking to each other. Around 6:15pm the staff became a little more attentive to those around us. We ordered the battered mushrooms which were well cooked, delish, and a generous serving, but so tough we had to order a knife to cut them and still struggled even with the knife. My steak salad was very good with a generous amount of steak. My husband ordered the salmon fish and chips. He said the fish was good but the fries had some spice on them he didnt care for. His cole slaw was warm and didnt taste like any slaw either of us has ever tasted. It made my tonque feel dry/fuzzy like alum. This is a man that loves his food and he left 90% of his fries and 95% of his coleslaw on his plate. Thank goodness for the mushrooms to help fill him up! Without beverages, dessert, or tip this meal came to $42.50. Too much we believe for the quality of service and food. May try Gilgamesh one more time down the road but definately wont be adding this place to our restaurant rotation at this time. Id give it another 1/2 star if I could

First time I came here was a couple of years ago and didnt have a good experience: beer was good but service and food were not. In spring 2017, I had dinner with some friends and I was so greatly surprised that Ive been coming back two or three times a month since then. Their outdoor seating is great to enjoy the warm weather weve been waiting for so long :) Beer selection is good. My favorite at this time of the year is their Mamba, a refreshing malty & orange brew. In terms of food, Ive tried their house burger -an ok choice a little pricey- and tuna poke, one of the best in town, in my opinion. With the sole exception of my first visit, service has been consistently efficient and very friendly.

Had a very unpleasant experience today. Waited a 1/2 hour to even get my drink then another hour for my food. My appetizer never came out. Numerous people at our table did not get items they asked for and drinks were not refilled. Plates were not removed when people were done.We were never even asked if we wanted dessert. We were seated outside and when we asked that the heaters be turned on we were told they had no propane. The food was actually quite good but the service was SO bad. The waitresses were so confused that they had to go around before they billed us and ask who had what!

I dont drink alcohol but they still serve good food. I have the chicken bacon ranch sandwich that comes on Texas toast, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and aoli of some kind. The chicken was a little dry, and the bread was too much. The fries are decent, the homemade katchup is the best, a little spicy to it, but not spicy. The burgers are probably the best thing on the menu. They have a varied selection of beers they craft themselves. They also have a large bar selection. Pretty good appetizers too, stoney fries or the pretzels with cheese sauce is amazing. It is worth trying.

Unfortunately they hire a very narrow character type of people and your interaction with them will vary. The atmosphere is great however, family friendly in their own way. I suggest another place more dedicated to that if thats what youre looking for. Unfortunately their managerial staff makes policy on demand and end up making youre experience that much more undesirable. If youre looking to have more than 3 drinks go to another place, otherwise youll waste 2 hours of your time... smaller portions for a median of $15.00

A well invested, beautifully decorated, full of character servers, tasty food, nice bathroom, extensive list of flavors of craft beers, even for those that do not enjoy craft beers for the most part and they serve liquor unlike most breweries. This is by far the best brewery in Salem and a great competitor in all of Oregon. To seal the deal on five star rating, we were pleasantly served by Amy who is professional, personal, full of life and real. We couldnt ask for a better server on this tour of breweries.

I have to say, I love their beers (especially Mamba), their food, and the atmosphere. The reason for my low review was that I went in to order a keg of beer. I will grant that it was last minute (two days to get it), but the sales guy said he would see what he could do and call me. I never received that call, not even to tell me they couldnt do it. I would really love to give them a 5 star rating (because I want to support local business and I really do like their food/beer), but I cant with that kind of service.

Full service breweries are finally showing up in Salem (about 10 years too late) and Gilgamesh was the first I tried. The space is wide open with lots of different types of seating, making for a comfortable atmosphere with various ways to relax. They have a wide range of beer options, but I always found myself drawn to their seasonals, sporting some of the more unique and satisfying flavor combinations Ive seen. The food doesnt reinvent the wheel, but the portion sizes are enough to keep you full and happy.

Disappointed by the unprofessional service received by Kim at the bar. She would not allow my husband to buy us drinks staying I would need to come in to purchase a my own drink. She then refused to open a tab do that I could add my drink due to the highschool reunion we were attending outside. This was confusing especially because a fellow classmate purchased two beer for he and his wife immediately after mine was refused. She was equally rude when I came in to order my cider and pay again with our card.

This restaurant is great with what they do, the decor and the layout. Ive also been to many restaurants before and never have been cut off before. It isnt really too big of a deal, but in a busy day one trip is all I have. To be told that after a couple of drinks that I would no longer be served by orders of the manager really makes me feel I wronged someone. I liked this place but hope others dont go through the same experience.
