Nothing wrong with the food nor the service. What is wrong with the place is that it is darn cold in the bar. The first time we were there we were seated directly to the left of the front door. Were half frozen in about 20 minutes. Threatened the waitress that I would bring my own space heater the next time. I also noticed that the draft strip on the front was half torn of. Brought this to the attention of the waitress - was received with a giggle. Came back a few weeks later. Sat at the bar. Froze again every time the front door opened. Noticed this time that the draft strip was now completely gone. Came back today. Sat two tables away from the front door. Wore a heavy sweater and froze. Advised couple sitting one table away from the front - they came in after we were getting ready to leave - to move to the table next to the fire place - thanked me profusely - they were freezing as well. The point I am trying to make is this: fix the draft strip. Ad a draft room in front of your entrance (foyer). Not only will you save big bucks with your electric bill but will also make you customers happy if they do not have to sit at the bar wearing their winter coat. I think we are good customers - every time we come in we drop about $50. Would like to stay longer but are tired of freezing. We are also steady customers of the Great Basin and are NEVER cold there. In addition: we had dinner in your dining room 3 Feb - my husbands birthday. Suggested to the waiter to change the bright lights over the dining table - felt we were in need of a visor. That change has not happened either. Good luck with your restaurant. Unless the changes are made you will have lost our business.

We have been going to this place for years on Valentines Day and on our anniversary! We usually go for the wondrful speciality dishes. The fried calamari used to be unbelievable. Now...mediocre at best!! Seabass used to be "to die for"!! The last time we were there, 3 of us returned the seabass because it tasted so fishy and seemed bad. We went there this Sat. night and there was 7 of us! The wedge salad that used to be covered with blue cheese and delicious. This time it was discusting. My daughter and I sent them back. The salad was wilting and the dressing was horrible! They brought us a "fresher" salad but it still tasted horrible. The dressing tasted bad and the fried onions rings on there were burned and tasted greasy! I ordered a ribeye steak med rare and it was well done! Both halibuts were dried out. My son in law sent his Ahi back it tasted so bad. Got a pasta dish instead. Our bill was over $600 but we did order 3 nice bottles of wine. This is the third time that we have been disappointed. Three strikes and your out!! Wont be going back unless we hear verbally that the food and preperation has improved immensely.

Made an online reservation for dinner for two at 8 on a saturday night. Called saturday afternoon to ask if we could add one person and/or change our reservation. my voice mail was returned by a male at 4;30 who advised we couldnt add a person or change the time. I then called back and cancelled my reservation for two at eight. After I hung up the phone, my daughter called the same reservation phone number and was told by a female there wouldnt be a problem with a 3 person dinner reservation at eight pm. Anyway, our dinner plans were ruined and we missed dinner thart evening. It appears that the employees are not able to get together in even seating people so I figured dinner would have been a failure too. After reading other reviews it does seem there is a management problem. I will avoid this place for now.

Rapscallion has been a Reno staple for as long as I can remember. The atmosphere is fantastic, I prefer to sit in the bar with the dark wood and good old boys feel to it. The food is still good although not great like it used to be. I recently went for brunch and would have been happier at numerous other establishments in town (Pegs or Squeeze to name a couple). Dinner is where its at, they fly in their Seafood so its always fresh. The carmel custard dessert has withstood the test of time. If anything Raps is still good for an Irish Coffee and dessert. I have noticed a difference since the Head Chef left, I feared that would happen as Mings skills in the kitchen were exceptional. Overall Raps is a good place to eat but there are so many great places in this town that I hate to waste money on merely "good".

My husband and I recently meet other friends here. We were both pleasantly surprised with there happy hour appetizers, drinks and costs. We had some wings, Baja Fries with all the fixings on the side, and House beef Tacos. The wings were Tabasco type wings, they were ok. I am glad that I got all the sides to the Baja fries on the side and the Beef Tacos were spicy. The price on the other had was reasonable. Our waitress I think her name was Celeste? She was super attentive, kind and informative. She made sure we knew that happy hour was ending so if we wanted more drinks or food we could get them at the happy hour price. Would go back? You BETCHA!! (a little Scandinavian humor)

It is a beautiful restaurant and three out of the four entrees were good, just good. Unfortunately the breaded horseradish halibut was a tasteless hunk of panko batter and thats what I ordered. Thats worth removing one star. It losses the another star from the ridiculous wait we had in between our app and the main course. It was literally an hour and there was no one else there. Lastly (and this should lose two stars) was the freezing temperature inside. We were sat under the AC register and asked to be moved but were immediately reassured that they were going to turn off the air conditioning. It took the entire meal ~2 hours before someone turned it down.I wont be going back.

For our 43rd wedding anniversary we decided to splurge and go to Rapscallion. Biggest mistake and such a waste of our hard earned money. My prime rib was so undercooked I thought it was still mooing. My scallops were overcooked which ruins them. My husbands surf and turf were way overcooked. We had ordered drinks before hand and had to ask for our beer twice after my drink was sitting in front of me. I had to send my drink back 2 times before I could drink it. Seriously, if I wanted to spend this kind of money, I could have gone to the Atlantis and spent the night and had a good meal.

Was in Reno on business, and was taken there by my local friends on Saturday, March 4th. I ordered the Lobster Thermidor (Ive always wanted to find and try this)--it was divine! And, from what I shared with other friends who have ordered it, Rapscallion is grossly undercharging at $38! Order and savor it! ITS THE MUST HAVE ENTREE!
