I went here with friends (one of whom is a vegetarian), having never tried the place before. Our server (a woman who may have actually also been the owner) was incredibly rude, and seemed insulted that we were even ordering food in the first place. She slammed the plates down, was slow with drinks, took one persons dessert order and walked off with the rest of us shouting at her to come back for the others, and then handed back the credit card of the person who was paying to the opposite end of the table. Everything was too highly priced, and the food was only so-so, considering Ive had fantastic indian food before. We didnt even get any complimentary bread before the meal, and had to order it along the lines of $12!! The bill was something like $200 for six people, with only one dessert and only water to drink. We did not even order very much food. I ordered a mixed platter to share that was supposed to come with "choice of dessert" as was printed in the menu, and when we did not receive a choice of dessert and consulted our server, she very rudely threw a menu at us and said we were free to order additional desserts. It was a terrible experience, and none of our party would ever go back there.

A truly pleasant surprise! For some reason, never patronized this place before today although I eat from Indian restaurants in the area over the decades. Recently a few professional colleagues recommended it. I nearly did not go after reading the negative reviews. That would have been a big mistake. The best, by far! Went with a non Indian colleague. Felt at home soon after walking in as the owner/manager greeted and gave an overview. Friendly, plenty of information and suggestions from staff. Quality of food was much better than local competition. More variety, larger amount of choices available, better tasting. Great environment, full house. Typical Columbia population, young professionals/working middle class singles and couples/families. Specials: Unlimited masala dosa served at table, pricelss! Nan, soft and melts in mouth. Dhall was fantastic. Nice assortment of delicious veggies. Biryani was moist (not dried up)and with plenty chicken. Improvements: Bring dosa faster to table! Make bigger? Soft drinks pricey at $2.95 but with free refills. Only 2 dessert options.

This is one of the worst restaurant in my experience. Restaurant management was very rude. We were party of 11. Firstly, they did not bring our orders together. It took them about 45-50 mins to bring everything to the table. The owner responded to our complaints saying it was our fault as we did not reserve the table in advance. Secondly, they forgot to put rice on the table. Being reminded, they served us rice but that was after we were done with our food. Again, no apologies from the management. This time he responded saying he is short staffed, his waiters do not have trolleys to carry food. Seriously!! Thirdly, they didnt even bring the right order at first time. we had to walk him through our order to explain. Also, the owner forced us to order more food. We wanted to order 3 baskets of breads but he literally forced us ordering 4. When you go out to eat, more than food, its the customer service and ambience which matters. This restaurant is epic fail in these regards.

I will agree with some of the other reviewers that the service is not that great for larger parties. This isnt a friendly customer service restaurant...the focus is the food. Ive been eating here for many years..I want to say at least 10, but its been a while. The food here is delicious. The lunch buffet is the best part about Mango Grove. You can try a little of everything and it changes. I was a vegetarian for almost 15 years, so Ive eaten quite a bit of Indian food over the years. This is not made from boxes or pre-packaged good. Its so much better than that. I love the eggplant, the okra, channa masala, palak paneer, the lemon rice, the sambhar, and countless other dishes Ive had here. They are all good and Ive had every vegetable dish they have. Definitely worth going. But, go half starved...they feed you well and its easy to quickly fill up on dosai and thats just part of the meal.

The restaurant owner Rohit is a very rude guy. We called him to inquire about their catering service but he said they dont discuss catering details over phone, so we went to the restaurant and met him to discuss in the evening time. He hardly spent 15 mins with us and in those 15 mins time he left in between to attend to so many other things including taking pictures of other guests, there is nothing wrong with that except he is the only one attending to everything and finally we couldnt decide on the menu and we said we will get back to him with our requirement but this idiot stood up and through his notebook on the other table and left. This guy has no sense about customer service, we went there because my wife liked their food, we told him that but I guess he has no idea how to keep a loyal customer. Mr. Rohit, learn how to respect people especially when you are in service business.

The Mango Grove markets themselves as an Indian restaurant first and foremost and a vegetarian restaurant second and this strategy works very well. If you are after quality Indian food, its well worth a visit regardless of whether you are vegetarian or not. The menu is varied and there are lots of excellent items on the menu. Vegan items are also clearly marked. Its difficult to find a genuinely good Indian restaurant in Maryland and this is certainly the best Ive been to. The location is far from ideal - its in an outdoor mall - but the food more than makes up for it. Their tea is high quality too. There is a smaller Indian restaurant next door in the same building (run by the same family) which caters for carnivores. The restaurants have separate kitchens to one another. This review is based on having dinner; I have not tried their lunch buffet. Highly recommended.

Firstly, rates are quite high for the quality and sanitation of the area. Look at the restrooms and imagine what the pantry/kitchen would be like. It is a matter of focus of sanitation in all areas. Taste not at all good. I also tried the highly touted Sunday Buffet and saw a birthday party happening in the same area where it is open to remaining public. The people from southern part of that Asian country are taking stroll around you, leaning on the food counters, do not let you pick your food since cake ceremony etc is happening at the same time. Embarassing after paying $$. May be buffet is okay rest of the times. I did not feel anything special after spending money at that place. Of course, tummy upset was inevitable. The would push you to order Mango Lassi durng buffet makin you feel it is part of buffet package but it is not, just a gimmick to draw extra.

If Mango Grove wants to continue charging premium prices they should provide premium service. The food was very good, however it came 40 minutes after we ordered. At $12-$18 per entree, I think they could afford to give us some bread while we are waiting. After ordering, we were not tended to until our order came. There were several children ages 1-2 in the restaurant and they, too, were not given anything to tide them over while waiting, stressing out the parents and other diners. When we arrived, the tableclth was stained. We tried moving to another table, but that cloth was also grossly stained. When we arrived the lights were on the brightest setting, so after 30 minutes I took the liberty of dimming them to a more relaxing level. So, if all you want is good food, this is the place for you. If you also want a pleasant experience, go elsewhere.
