Call in your order and then pick it up. Do not show up here at noon on a Friday and expect to get out in 5 minutes. Every sandwich is made to order. Here is what I always get: Footlong Italian with hot giardinera. It is delicious. The Italian lunch meat is shaved perfectly and layered with provolone, lettuce, tomato and seasonings. I also ask them to add onion, if I remember. Just a note this place is more then a sandwich shop. You can buy groceries and fresh meat. This is our go to place in the neighborhood. The housemade sausage is so good. I also pick a giant jar of there housemade hot giardinera too. This way I can make amazing sandwiches at home too. The staff in here is incredible from the owners to the guys working behind the counter to the great ladies at the register. Everyone here makes us feel welcome. Walk into Jewel and the staff ignores you. That is not gonna happen here because they treat you like family.

This shop offers sandwiches and groceries and has butchery as well. I had heard a lot about Baris and read the positive reviews on yelp. So last week I decided to pay a visit as I was shopping for groceries including meats and wanted to sample their sandwiches after a long day. I ordered the roast beef and prosciutto with fresh mozzarella. Never in my life had a tasted or eaten such a delicious sandwich. Call it addiction because since then, I have made it a point of sampling the different types available and have never been disappointed. This is one old establishment that continues to offer quality foods at affordable prices with an amazing array of meats, cheese and groceries that are all of the highest quality. Add the first class customer service and there is no reason why you wont go back. There are many other homemade foods and imported Italian goodies as well.

We placed an order online today for a grand total of 13 subs. The instructions on the order were specific and very detailed. When I arrived back at my job, one sandwich was missing. The person whom it belonged to made a special trip to visit and her lunch was not there. Additionally, the gardiniera was missing. The instructions were that they were to be on the side for the all of the sandwiches. Instead, they were all missing. The French bread was also on the hard side so it kind of scrapped my mouth whenever I took a bite of the sandwich. Please fix this!

Best Italian sub I have had in a long while! All the ingredients are fresh and delicious! The homemade giardinera is hot and tasty. Go straight to the back of the store and order your sandwich right away. You will have to wait, but it is well worth it. They also have a very good selection of meat and cold cuts. Everything is reasonably priced, but there is no where to eat inside the store so you will have to take your sub to go. I want to go back and try the Italian Beef and Italian Sausage next! #CityExperts @GoogleLocalCHI #PartyOnLG

For someone who doesnt care for for giardinara, I loved Baris, and am now converted. I tried both the hot and mild versions on their signature Italian sub, and it brought out tremendous flavor in the meat and spices. The reason that Im not giving a higher rating is because I ordered 3 subs, and the bread was crusty and didnt seem fresh. I ordered Friday night before they closed and wonder if they were using up old bread. Perhaps this wouldnt matter as much in the Italian beef sandwich, and I do plan on returning to try it at some point.

The food is exceptional, no doubt about it. However, placing catering/delivery orders over the phone has been difficult the last few times. One order they delivered a week early, they do not provide the exact price at the time of the order, they put you on hold to check something and someone else picks up the phone and you have to start all over with the order, when I call a day or two before a delivry to confirm it--they rarely find the order with ease and makes me concerned it could not show up.

THE BEST eye-talian sub in the city, bar none. Right in the heart of what I like to call "the old neighborhood," owned and staffed by super-friendly people. Great service and prices even if your last name doesnt end in a vowel. Butcher shop offers high quality meats and cheeses cut to order alongside Italian staples and even fresh produce for that red sauce you make from scratch at home. If you havent been, make a point to get down to Grand Avenue ASAP.

Awesome neighborhood Italian market - the sandwiches are the real stars here. From the Italian to the Caprese or Italian veggie with marinated egglant, everything is fresh, delicious and inexpensive! On the weekends (especially Sundays during football season), call in your order for pick-up or risk having to wait 20 minutes in the small store. Also a great place for a variety of pastas (frozen and dried) and other Italian cooking essentials.

Bari was introduced to me by a co-worker. This place has the best italian sandwiches I have had in the city of Chicago. A small italian grocery store/deli nestled on the corner of Grand Avenue and May. The bakery next door supplies their bread and Bari supplies the rest. Top choice meats and cheeses go on these one of kind sammiches. Prosciutto and fresh mozz is my favorite. Their HOT giardiniera is great also.

They do all the right things to create the best subs in Chicago. That includes the best bread, slicing quality meat for each sandwich, using top grade cheese, and little things like ensuring the lettuce on your sub was cut within the last 30 minutes. I browse the aisles of their Italian grocery store while waiting for my sub, but you might want to call your order in 15 minutes before pickup to avoid the wait.

Highly satisfied. I love the thin cut meat. Flavor is perfect. Bread is soft and fresh. Vegetable are fresh & crisp (A+). If you like avocados like I do, I would add extra for taste. Price is favorable considering the quality and quantity. Its nice to have a fresh & healthy option available at a reasonable price, while putting back into the community ! Will be back, will bring friends Bari is best.

Subs are pretty good - this stretch of Grand has quite a number of outstanding sub shops, and youd be smart to try one here. Lines around lunchtime get pretty long and snake through the store. The extra hot peppers are exactly that; order with caution. I love spicy but found these to be egregiously spicy to the point they overwhelmed the other flavors and did a disservice to the sandwich.

I have had this twice by delivery. Ive had the Italian sausage and the meatballs sandwiches. Both were good but Ive had better! It does hit the spot, especially in an otherwise barren land for good delivery food at a decent price and time for delivery. I wish they had more bread options when ordering. Also, I want to see a cheesesteak on this menu! Might as well! Good stuff though.

Ridiculously amazing! Self explanatory! Little small store/deli, but in the back is where the amazing sandwhiches get made. Long line, but the guys got it down to a science and get you in and out quick. Fresh bread, fresh ingredients, great taste! Found a new hidden gem! 12 inch subs for less than $7, sold! 3 footer for $17, unheard of! Keep up he great service BARI!
