Pretty good for Colorado. For this level of dining, I wished they grated fresh wasabi though. Or even use a mix of frozen real wasabi which is much better than using just powder. They use nikiri for their nigirisushi which means that you are not supposed to use soy sauce. Its definitely a step higher than many fusion American sushi joints and a sign of quality. The service was very nice, my waiter was very chill and hip. I hope he tailors his speech differently towards different age groups, I dont know if his jargon would appeal to the older crowd lol. Or maybe it will, haha who knows. The amuse of tako su was a super nice touch. Even if it was just a tiny piece of octopus, its great to see. The daily special menu that seems like its printed every day is awesome. I hope they bring in lots of interesting fish yearly. That said, the $30 chefs choice nigiri and hand roll special I got was a great deal. The nigirisushi was good, some pieces were outstanding while others were just okay. They used a lot of rice for some pieces while other pieces were just right. I particularly liked their Portobello mushroom sushi, eggplant sushi, and the aburi spicy salmon belly. The ones you can skip are the ebi, tamago, honmaguro akami(perhaps I just went on a bad day, but this tasted like yellow fin or just older/lower quality bluefin), salmon tartar with sturgeon caviar (it was highly recommended, but I thought the price didnt justify it- not enough caviar). You absolutely must get the Portobello mushroom and eggplant though, so dang good. The aburi salmon was wonderful and the aburi scallops looked so good. Their kitchen menu seemed solid as well. Overall I enjoyed my time here and felt very welcomed. I highly recommend stopping by!

Dont get me wrong... The food was awesome! Everything was fresh and well prepared. The deserts were a little lack-luster by way of flavor, but the ideas were pleasant. The staff we encountered however, was atrocious. The hostess had nothing but attitude towards us and our party and our server didnt earn the auto-gratuity that was put on our check. I am not being overly critical, I am simply making observations as a service industry manager. Our server was stand-offish, he was hardly ever around and he did not check back on us after dropping off food. He was more of a bus boy than a server. The only time we really saw him was when he was pre-bussing our table. We had to stop him any time we wanted to order anything. I am not sure what the deal was with our reservation but the hostess wouldnt let the first two thirds of our party sit at a table for 6 so they had to take a table for four and then ask someone in the dining room to find us a second table to pull up for the rest of our party that was coming later. This all happened while another reservation sat right next to us and only had part of their party present but they were given enough seating for their entire party right away. I suggest you either dont make a reservation or clarify from the time you do that you will have people showing up a little later than the first part of your party. Sushi Den needs to get their front-of-house in order. They are making the back-of-house look bad, which is a shame because the food is wonderful.

This was our favorite place to go! Very classy and great service usually. However, took my wife here for lunch on Monday and had the worst dining experience Ive had in awhile. We ordered 3 sushi rolls before our entrees of ramen. 1 roll came out 15 in mins. Then the ramen arrived 10 mins after that, but only 2 of our 3 ramen came out. So another 15 mins the 3rd ramen came out for our table. After talking with the manager and our server it was discovered that the order was never placed for it. The other 2 sushi rolls that we had ordered still hadnt come out. Order was lost for these 2 rolls. In total those rolls took 55 mins to come out. Then the manager said those rolls would be comped and that we could get a dessert on the house. Got the dessert but server charged us for the 2 "free" rolls. Manager corrected but it was just a bit of the train wreck. This was out favorite place and this experience really ruined it for us. The restaurant fell apart for lunch. From the kitchen to server to management. the manager did her best to make it right. But was just a terrible experience. Normally this place is really good. Totally fell apart for a lunch hour and ruined my wifes birthday lunch. Dangit Sushi Den.

Get to this sushi spot around 5. A few of us sped out of work to get to this neighborhood spot. I will choose to sit at the sushi bar if I can. The waitstaff was attentive and efficient. When you sit at the sushi bar a chef is assigned to you. Ours was personable and was open to our questions and made great suggestions. The sushi was fresh. The true test is in the uni. A sushi joint has to turn this specialty item pretty quick to keep it fresh and it was nice and buttery. Sitting at TE bar with 2 other friends was great because it felt intimate and we werent competing with the noise of the diners around us and you get to see all the great dishes coming from the chefs. It is a little dodgy as the waitstaff reaches over you to pick up their sushi orders but they were very polite and I got to see dishes I want to try next time. One note about service, some water splashed Nuffield when a server was jostled while filling the glasses. He apologized profusely, another server rushed over with some towels for what literally was a small trickle of water. Next the owner came by and apologized again and compd all our drinks. Thats service. I will be back again.

We went here because of all the stellar reviews on here and must go hype surrounding this place. I thought it was very good and gave it a very good rating, but it was not the best of the best in my opinion. Dont get me wrong, the service was great and the food was good, but it is not worth the hassle. As soon as we got there...4:30 PM, there was a line to get in. I was scratching my head as to why? We got in and sat at the sushi bar. The server was pleasant and the sushi chef was very funny with us. We watched as the place got filled up within 30 minutes. We were amazed and thought to ourselves that we were so lucky to get here early. We got our sushi and we enjoyed it. It was very good. But it didnt knock our socks off. We have had better in the area, but I will not say where as I dont want a line to start there and make it hard to get in. But I thought the food was good, but lacked an ample supply of fish within the sushi. The portions were smaller than I was accustomed to. In summary, it is a nice experience with good food, but make sure you get there early if you have plans elsewhere in the evening, otherwise you will be waiting a long time for a table.
