My husband knows that, being of German descent, I Just LOVE a good kuchen! He took me to "special order", 2 different kinds, after extensive research, and being told by Rheinlanders that they had the Best kuchen. They had the worst, Ive ever eaten, and I am 54 years old. The staff acted preoccupied, as if they were too busy. Although the staff behind them looked busy, the 2 counter people had few customers. I got, what they called "kuchen," home, and it was a Very stale, dry, coffee cake, dusted with powdered sugar. I called the owner and asked how she could call "this,"kuchen? She snapped, "we dont have the kind you described, here!" I showed her how dry it was by literally "sawing it," on the phone. It was Very expensive, so I asked for my credit back. She said she would give me Nothing, unless I "drove it back!" I countered, that we lived a long way, away, and again, you could hear how dry, I literally "sawed it," on the phone. She argued that No One Else EVER complained, which is virtually and preposterously impossible! I worked in several top restaurants, and not One, was perfect. She was so snotty, did not care, refused to accommodate me in Any Way, and ruined my birthday, as well as the several hours, to go there. Our son was deployed, a 2nd time, a 3rd now, and my amazing husband was trying to do something special to cheer me up. I threw both of her dried up cakes out! I then phoned a bakery, in Eureka South Dakota, which we Should have done, in the 1st place. Their prices, Much Less, their kuchen, Amazing, and owner, (Maria), also sent a couple of free individual size flavors, for me to try, free! Shipping was a little high, but overall, Still Less $$$, than Rhinelanders, Very Sweet and informative service, and Proper, Amazing, Moist, delectible kuchen!!!!! Rheinlanders smelled good, but given How extraordinarily rude the owner was, to me, and the in person experience, also, I will Never go back, and suggest that Everyone who reads this, order from "The Kuchen," place, in Eureka, South Dakota. Made me homesick, and is making me want to order more right now. Tip:order during the cold season, only.

If the taste of the cake is the most important factor then this is the best place to order from. A few problems...I ordered my cake 90 days before the wedding, paid for it all. Called 2 weeks before the wedding to confirm details, staff reported everything was set to go. Called a week before the wedding to let the staff know that a friend would be picking up the cake at a specific time, once again staff confirmed that everything was set to go. Received a call from the staff 2 days before my wedding stating that they did not have the colors for the cake (gave them fabric swatches when I ordered my cake), did not have time to go all the way to Arvada 2 days before my wedding, reminded staff member that a friend would be picking up the cake at a specific time. Recevied a call THE DAY of my wedding stating that no one had picked up the cake, (even though it was not yet the time that I specified our friend would be picking up the cake. and lastly cake was set up incorrectly (with pillars when I specifically asked for no visible pillars). However the cake did taste great. Hope this helps any future brides!

So many delicious looking choices that it took me forever to decide! Thank goodness the girl behind the counter was very sweet and helpful. I finally decided on two cookie sandwiches. The first had Cream Cheese Icing between two Oatmeal cookies and then the entire thing was dipped in dark chocolate. The cookie was super crumbly and soft in just the right way. The dark chocolate shell provided a light crunch and nice rich flavor. My second choice had Chocolate icing sandwiched between peanut butter chip cookies dipped in butterscotch. The icing was light and fluffy - closer to a mousse in my opinion. And peanut butter cookies filled with peanut butter chips? How can you go wrong?! The cookie had a nice salty flavor that paired perfectly with all the super sweetness from being covered in butterscotch chips. I would totally go back for another cookie sandwich for sure! But they also had some fantastic looking cupcakes that apparently have some delicious fillings inside...Id probably have to try one of those, too!

I ordered a Gluten Free King cake for Fat Tuesday. It arrived in impressive time... I ordered on a Tuesday and it arrived at my house 3 days later, in plenty of time for Mardi Gras despite my late ordering and snowy weather. That, however, was about the only good thing about this King Cake. It looked nothing like the images online... I wish I could post an image with this review. It did not have the purple/green/gold colored sugar on top and it was basically just a round cake with a hold cut in the center. I say cut in the center, but in actuality it was cut slightly to one side. It also tasted nothing like any King Cake Ive ever had. What a waste of $50ish.

We visited this bakery in search of gluten-free items for my husband and myself. We were pleasantly surprised by the quantity of gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free options. There were 2 full cases of gluten-free treats, in addition to the case of gluten-free cakes. Weve been to Rheinlander twice and the staff is very pleasant, helpful and inviting. We are having a sugar-free, gluten-free cake custom made for an upcoming birthday party. Im excited and proud to be sharing this level of quality with my family and friends.

I loved this bakery years ago, was walking around old town Arvada, decided to pop in for a treat. I was so disappointed in what I received. This dessert should be flaky and creamy with a hard top and it was doughy, frosting in top was wet and slippery, could not cut it, bite in to it, it just turned to mush! I threw it away along with the money I spent on it. I did call and let them know and the sweet girl on the phone did offer me a credit with an apology so that was very nice.

This bakery has some of my favorite baked goods around. Their gluten free cakes taste better than most other places normal cakes. Everytime I walk in there Im always greeted with a smile and fantastic service. My company has even switched to Rheinlander for all our cake needs. I prefer to stop in here for my coffee over any other place as well. Got a friend or family member with allergies, try these guys and gals out! Been going here for years and will continue to do so!

I am celiac and have tried this bakery for gluten free items on multiple occasions. Every time I have eaten here, I have gotten sick within 1-2 hours. The last time I ate there, I called the manager, as it concerns me that they may be cross contaminating. They tried to explain that they use a sweetener that can cause GI upset. I am pretty relaxed about having celiacs, but I will never eat at this bakery again, nor recommend it to others who are gluten free.
