To the people here saying this place is too small, well thats the frikin point! I loved how intimate and small this place is. There need to be more small places like this vs the crazy bustling big restaurants you find too often in places like SF. A complete hole in the wall. My GF and I came here and were greeted by the owners (a sweet husband and wife couple) and they sat is right away. We were seated promptly (we had a reservation) and our orders were taken without waiting too long. The menu is had a great selection of local seafood dishes, all of them looked delicious, but we decided to start with the seafood platter. The wait time for our food to get out was minimal. We were left speechless to say the least: delicious fresh oysters, and a ceviche that left you craving for more. Great start so far! But then the star of the show was the main dish. I ordered the albacore tuna, and Ill just say that it was the dankest piece of tuna Ive ever had. Cooked to perfection with a delicious and perfectly seasoned crust. Ughhhhh, I couldve had two. So things are great so far right? Cant get any better than this. WRONG! Dessert time. We got this lemon posset that was like eating angels tears with pieces of clouds. Desert was so dank we had to get another one. And then we died and went to heaven. Overall, this place left us speechless. I grew up in a costal town so I know quality seafood, and let me tell ya, this place doesnt disappoint. Its a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Will come again.

Came to Wild Fish based on the recommendations of some locals (who retired to the area from the city). They raved about the desserts ... hmm ... this I got to try. Desserts in a restaurant called the Wild Fish?? Its located in the back of the post office and general store. Small place. Maybe 6 or 7 tables total. Rather unassuming when you walk in. View out back pretty nice. Sunset spectacular. Now the food. Locally source sustainable seafood if that is important to you. But most important of all, it taste awesome! Fish tacos and the chowder. Yum. Recommended wine pairings were spot on too! Finally had to try the desserts. Gosh sticky toffee pudding ... I want to go back for more. Now I understand why they were raving about it. I wandered outside after the meal and chatted with some of the staff. Really cool and caring folks who put a lot into the meal. 2 thumbs up. Definitely will repeat next time in the area.

This place came highly recommended by the blue door inn. We had our reservations at 5:30 and arrived on time and was seated promptly. The place only has eight tables and is very small but very elegant and quaint and has a view of the ocean. A younger lady seated us. An older lady took our orders and took our wine selection. Sometime later we finally got our wine. The young lady rushed over with our bread plates and bread. While the older walked by us several times ignoring us and making sure the other patrons were served. The hubby said said maybe they were prejudiced? I was dressed very casually (and Asian) and him black. He usually doesnt like to say that but after waiting so long for our meal and every one else seated and feed before us had me wondering. All in all, some quaint restaurant with good food but with okay service. But I will have to say the younger waitress did her best with us.

The worst customer experience ever. Reserved for a special occasion just to find out on the spot that 8 out of 10 tables are facing a parking lot. The place is so cramped, you cant even talk to a waiter without being constantly disturbed by people trying to get to their table. Claustrophobic, awkward but on top of that the place charges you a fee of $50 if you decide not to stay. Outrageous. They say they have lines of people outside and they turn down 150 customers a week. If that was true there would be no worry about people cancelling. This was the worst restaurant experience weve had in years. Any other place we went to on our trip was very friendly and represented the culture we visited Mendocino for but this one almost ruined it for us. Do not recommend.

Excellent food, amazing view, and friendly service. Everything we ate - the shallot focaccia, local greens salad, the swordfish, and the toffee pudding - were absolutely exceptional. The Wild Fish team was attentive and the owner, Kalvin, went out of his way to greet the restaurant patrons and make sure sure everyone was happy with the food. The gorgeous sunset and ocean view made our dining experience even more special. We loved everything about this place and will definitely be back when we return to the Mendocino area.

Youll want to make a reservation as this place is small and stays busy well into the night, but all for good reason. Delicious, beautiful plates of fresh seafood and local ingredients that all have a chance to shine. From the Summer menu the Strawberry salad is a must-try. The Halibut and Ling Cod were excellent: very tender with great spices and sear. The main complaint is that we made a reservation for 8:45 and werent seated until after 9 pm. Every couple behind us was similarly delayed by 15-20 minutes.
