This place is amazing! The price is reasonable and the sushi is awesome! I go with my boyfriend all the time. Were both big eaters and usually spend $50-$60, which includes a 17% tip). First, to get through the minor details. I wouldnt order the Bento...unless youre into the Americanized version of Japanese cuisine. The shrimp and vegetable tempura has been going downhill for awhile in that there is less and less veggies, but always two shrimp tempuras. The udon isnt bad, but if you know a thing or two about making a noodle dish, youll notice that its something you can make at home very easily. The service: SM is a Korean family-owned restaurant. (I know that some people think Koreans cant or shouldnt be opening a Sushi joint; but that shouldnt be the basis on not going to a restaurant. The dad/chef knows his sushi!) The two sons are servers and theres usually one or two other servers helping out. The dad is sushi chef and the mom is sous-chef/big mama. :) Theyre all very nice people. Having said that, one of the son is very sweet and slightly shy. Hes a VERY neat person and makes sure your table setting is always adjusted and clean. The other son has more of a dry humor and is more "stoic." Im not saying this to be mean b/c he can be pretty cool, but I can see how some other reviewers are put off by his more serious temperament. Ive been going here for more than two years now and have befriended the sons and the servers; they are all very nice and helpful people. Now, the important, juicy part: the rolls! If you spend money at this place, order the rolls or the sashimi combos. Anything else is not bad, but is not excellent either. My favorite rolls are: Spicy Crunch Tuna Roll, Spicy Crunch Salmon Roll, Mt. Rainer Roll, Fire Mtn. Roll, Rainbow Roll, Dragon Roll, and Philadelphia Roll. However, you should NEVER leave SM without ordering the Crazy Roll and/or the Special SM Roll; they are succulent! Im a VERY regular customer at this place and am still not sick of these choices. I take family and friends from out of town here every time and Ive attended birthday gatherings here. Give it a try; you wont regret it.

I was looking fo a good take out teriyaki place. Sushi Moto seems to have good reviews so I called them to place an order for beef teriyaki. The person I spoke with said they dont have teriyaki but they make beef Kalbi. When I picked up the order, I was dissatisfied with how little was the food inside. For $18 I could have bought two pounds of ribs. My first experience to this place is tinged with the feeling of getting ripped off.

I went with my family when I had a hankering for sushi visiting from out of town so we dropped in. I got the sushi special which had 6 pieces of Nigiri with the most decrepit almost rotting 6 pieces of fish I had ever seen. I couldnt even eat one. Imagine going to a Sushi restaurant and leaving all the food on your plate and walking out. Thats what happened to me today. Needless to say I wont be going back!

I was never really a sushi guy, the couple times Ive tried and it just didnt take. Then my wife and daughters seem to get a hankering for it and speak highly of this place. Feeling tired (or lazy, take your pick) and not wanting to bother with much more, I got enough for the four of us and had some myself. Thanx to these guys, Ive converted.

Hosting is not their best despite the closely experience of a small sushi bar may be in Japan (Ive never been there but the place make you feel like that and the food is not so as americanize as others restaurants. Warning: bring your own soy (too salty).

There food is incredible but the prices are a little too high for this to be my regular sushi place. The workers are friendly, foods made quick and u can watch it. And i love the little snacks they bring to you while your waiting. Overall great place!

These guys always deliver- Im not sure if they actually do but I mean in terms of great sushi and great service. Its got a nice local feel and they remembered us after coming in two times. Im glad to spend my money here. Great tea too.

Charging full price for scraps. Ordered spicey roll combo. Got three or four rows of neatly wrapped rice balls with a couple of minuscule pieces of sushi. Sorry. Not wasting my money on that. Order cancelled.

We have lived in mountlake terrace for over 10 years and its always the same awesome sushi. We have tried others in the area just to see and have always been let down. Sushimoto is hands down the BEST!
