The food good, staff no is what my fiancé said. Hes not much for reviews. In fact it bugs him if it takes me more then 5 minutes to right one. Anyhow the GPS took us to the back entrance and so all we got were eyeballs as we walked through the restaurant to the front. We stood waiting to be seated and the waitress was friendy. We ordered water to drink because we just had finished stony man summit. When I ordered they were out of crescent rolls for my chicken salad. So I ended up with a pretzel roll. No big deal. I swapped out fries for the side and the were nice and crispy. The sandwich was great as well. So the cook and preps get a big thumbs up. During our meal though our server vanished, never came over to check on drinks. And I finished mine and his water. I was still thirsty and he was a tad cranky. Anyhow when she did come over after he was finished and I was just about done she offered us dessert menúes but not refills. When we asked for refills she kinda looked at us like we were crazy. We got our refill and dessert menú only for her to tell us she basically had only the pies with chocolate left and I cant stand super chocolate type deserts. So we grabbed our bill and left. Not getting what we wanted and a server who doesnt understand hydration was enough. Overall if you can be patient with the wait staff I believe the food may be worth it for some. As for us chances are we probably wont be back there because we travel to different areas and normally dont repeat places.

I have ate at the Gathering Grounds Patisserie & Cafe for an entire week straight. I have taken all of my friends to this restaurant and everyone has loved it. Every time I have ate there the food and service was spectacular. They have taken over what was previously A Moment To Remember and have made a complete turn around from the bad service and bad food that A Moment To Remember provided. A few of my friends from Richmond came up to visit and I took them to the Gathering Grounds and they said they havent found food that pleasing in the city. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great food in a great restaurant.

I live in northern Virginia but have a vacation log home near Luray. I am accustomed to fine dining restaurants and great food. We visit GG regularly. It has great breakfasts and wonderful lunch selections. We even had a Valentine dinner there. High quality foods, using fresh ingredients. Wait staff is well trained and very attentive. Coffee, lattes and teas are what you would expect in a higher income suburban area. A nice, relaxed ambience. Often frequented by Appalachian trail hikers which makes for interesting conversations.

They offer dinners only on Fri and Sun. Went Sat night and had great food. My husband had rock cornish game hen with roasted potatoes and sauteed veggies. He raved about his meal, especially the honey mustard sauce with a hint of horseradish on the hen. I had a bean burger which was good and a cup of corn chowder with chicken that was fabulous. Its a french bakery and cafe and their pastries were terrific: cannoli, cheesecakes, huge cookies, and more. Surprising to find this caliber of food in such a small town.

An absolute gem! We had a medium hot chocolate and a large soy latte with a croissant breakfast sandwich and a breakfast wrap. The drinks were generous, served in beautiful mugs. The service was friendly and prompt. There was a wide variety of seating from the leather couches where we sat, to tables, and high tables. The decor was bright and funky, with vintage cycling artifacts that my son and I enjoyed immensely as we were in town for a bike race. Bravo, Luray! Support this local treasure.

Great dining experience. This place has a really good eclectic menu. Found it to have very flavorful food. Not exactly cheap...but if you dont just want meat loaf and mashed potatos or pizza, you wouldnt go to a place like this any way. The sandwiches were very good. However, I gotta say the pecan chocolate chip pie was OFF THE HOOK! The slice was huge! Also had a fantastic cup of coffee to wash it down with. If your a foodie, you need to try this place out!

Great food, great coffee, great atmosphere & more. I absolutely love this place. Never have had a bad meal, dessert or coffee here. The waitstaff is excellent. They just seem to know when you need something. Sometimes there is live music on Friday or Saturday nights. The patio is fantastic on a beautiful spring day. Not a place you would expect in a small town but what a gem it is!! Thank you for your deliciousness!

Ive had several great experiences here, both breakfast and lunch. I met a client there, and also stopped on my own accord. The coffee is outstanding, as well as the customer service. I love the seating and atmosphere...you can sit near the window in the comfy couch or the large chairs, at the counter or get a table in the back for groups of four or more. Will be making this a regular stop while in Luray!

Great coffee and pastries. Had a croissant breakfast sandwich that was delicious. Wish I had more time to come back and try the pies (they look delicious). Highly recommend the croissant sandwich with chicken salad. I forget what its called but it has grapes and pecans. The staff was very friendly and there is a back porch that is dog friendly.

What a great experience to find a comfortable gluten-free friendly restaurant in the beautiful mountains of Virginia! The server was so patient as I asked question after question about my gluten-free options (Im celiac, so I need to be certain!). Delicious gluten-free bread on my Winchester Panini (yum!). Definitely recommend this place!

We were so glad to find this little gem! They have an outdoor pet friendly seating area in the rear or the restaurant. They brought our pup a bowl of water and a pupaccino! We were there for breakfast snd the food was great. We loved the pie. Service was a tiny bit slow but our server was very friendly. We had a great experience.

Ive been here twice passing through Luray and have very much enjoyed it each time. The service has been friendly and timely, the coffee is good and the pastries and pies are great, fresh made. Plus they have a cold brew coffee contraption that is really cool to observe at the counter. I very much recommend this place.

We visited from Richmond and tried just about every place to eat in Luray. Although I would say Artisans is the best food/price for lunch, the service at the Gathering Grounds was great and the food was pretty good. The prices were a little high for what you are getting though. Overall it was a good experience.

Excellent little cafe on East Main Street. Stopped in for lunch, had tomato basil soup, and the peach smoothie. Wonderful! Prices are fair. My husband had the veggie bean soup and half sandwich (chicken salad) . Also very good. Very pleasant wait-staff. They also have Wi-Fi. Would highly recommend!

Hands down the best fried pickles weve ever had..probably the best in the world. Mediterranean wrap and salad were fresh and delicious. Cute interior and excellent staff. Not a bad thing to say about this place. Would absolutely come back and next time leave room for the delicious looking desserts!
