We had always driven by this place and wondered how it was, especially being next to a somewhat classy place like Saltys. Let me tell you, this place is not worth the time spent in it. First off its a place where people Id never associate myself with hang out. I felt like I was being eye raped walking in in shorts and a t shirt. The staff was super slow and unfriendly. The patio does have a view but is so poorly/cheaply done that its really nothing to brag about. It took about 10 mins to have our order taken, ten to get a beer, 20 or so to get out sandwiches and a salad. I was starving and still the food was pretty gross. I would rate it right at about hospital food. My boyfriend had a French dip that had a dry bun with sad dried out meat and thats it, I had a club with that horrible plastic cheese and lack luster everything else. Overall out food was $22 so luckily the price matched the quality but needless to say we wont ever be going back or referring people. Also the lady who waited on us was super bland and in friendly the whole time until about a few mins before we were to pay and decide her tip and then she became fairly nice. Too bad she wasnt that way from the start. She would have been the only positive to his place.

My family just met here for brunch and while the food was decent the service was horrible and left a sour taste in my mouth. First off there was 6 of us. 5 of us got our meals and the last one didnt come out for another 10 minutes at which point it was cold and you could tell it was just our server not bringing us our food. Secondly I had ordered a captain and coke and got the first one. Then I ordered a second. I took awhile to get and once I got it it was a well rum coke. I politely stated this wasnt what I order and I didnt want it. Once we got our checks they still tried to charge me for it. After I stated it was the wrong drink. The server then goes on saying how she hit repeat and that I had to pay for it. After arguing with me, her raising her voice and giving me attitude I got her to realize the receipt said one captain and one well run and coke. Ive worked in customer service before and typically the customer is always right. This server was in the wrong by arguing with me then calling me a lier in front of my whole family. I will not be return or recommending this place to anyone.

I give this bar one star. Only because its on the water and the view is gorgeous, other than that this bar SUCKS!!!!!! The service is HORRIBLE!!!! The way that they treat African Americans is so distasteful and it sickens me. Some of my family likes to come here to celebrate birthday for what ever reason and when we go there we spend lots of money. We put money in the jukebox to listen to music which is mostly RAP or R&B and they play it really low they refuse to turn it up but will play country and rock very loud. The bartenders are VERY RUDE. There is a short dark hair caucasian who works there Saturday nights and she is VERY VERY RUDE!!!! I dont know if the owner of this establishment knows how his employees treat their customers but I just want him to know that as of Saturday Aug 12th they lost some very good customers who always came in a very LARGE group who likes to spend a very good amount of money! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!

It took us 25 min. after ordering to get our first drinks, the waitress told us that there was only 1 bar tender and that the food would be much "easier to get" but then it was another 45 min wait for a burger and raw veggies. We sat at a table with the last peoples food on it because the neither of the 2 servers working had time to stop and clean off the table. As we left the waitress told us that the night before they were "way over staffed" and so thats why only 3 people were working that Friday night shift. Maybe the managers need to put all the staff on weekend nights. The food was okay, so if your ever that way and are thinking youll be hungry in an hour the Sextant shouldnt be to bad a place to stop.

I am still at The Sextant as I write this, but I want to say this place is excellent! My boyfriend and I moved here two years ago to Portland and have driven by this bar numerous times. We finally decided to stop and try it and Im very pleased that we did. The service was amazing! KEVIN is a freakin rockstar! He was personable, friendly, humble, and he makes the best homemade Bloody Mary mix! We will definitely be coming back. The atmosphere is casual and inviting and the food is great! Thank you so much to The Sextant and Kevin.

Was busy so figured would take awhile. But when 2 tables that came in after us got their food first we called waitress. Was over 30 mins by then from when we ordered. Waitress had made a mistake and didnt get our order in right. Or is what she said. Then my husbands fried clams where not fully cooked. The little ones were fine but big ones were not done. Waitress took stuff off our bill but that will be our first and last time there. Great view of the river though.

My first time was last weekend. The place itself is awesome inside and out. Great view. However; the srevice was slow and rude. Also when I have a choice of soup or salad, I ask for soup, and they say theyre out. To me that is negligent. Food wasnt bad. The music box was also way too loud in there. It was tough to have my conversation. The service being so rude, and slow, not to mention forgetting us completely when we were about to oder.....makes this bad for me.

Our food came cold. We had to ask to have it heated. The waitress when clearing the table took my wine glass that was half full and I wasnt done with it. When I asked to bring it back, she laughed at me. We had visited the Sextant several times in the past and were pleased thats why we went back. The reason Im writing this is to let them know we are not coming back. Dont care to be laughed at.

greatest place on earth - had a ship party there on the 19th & it was fabulous, our every need was catered to. Hats off to the people who make this the best place to go. Service sucks. Im here and took 20min to get a drink order. And the other waitress came to help. And then next stop 30 later. Missed happy hour because nobody did last call or ask us. Then asked bartender for cold glass for my beer. They were short.... we dont have them that cold. Nice...

My bike got stolen late last night, and while I was waiting for a cab near the restaurant (the cab company needed an address to find us), one of the female workers came out and yelled at us for standing in parking lot. I havent eaten at this place, but I surely never will.
