This place is awesome! I honestly think it may be one of my favorite places to grab lunch in the Gateway District, which is an odd thing to say about place that has the word "Bakery" in its name. Usually, Id associate such a name with breakfast, and while they stay true to their name with plenty of pastries and yogurts, I still find myself drawn to the sandwiches and soup selection. The menu is vegan friendly, which is a significant plus, but slightly limited. There is only one vegan sandwich, which is delicious, so maybe the limiting factor doesnt matter as much. However, the soups typically involve chicken in some capacity, and I feel like having a veggy minestrone of some kind would be beneficial here. With that said, the chicken & dumpling soup is also delicious. If you couldnt care less about vegan or vegetarian diets, I highly recommend it. The sides (you get to choose one with each sandwich, or can be selected a la carte) lend the meal a ot of variety. There is standard potato salad, all the way up to the more exotic fair, such as the quinoa salad (which is also amazing). If you are on the go, takeout is available, but if you have time to spare I highly recommend dining in. The interior is pleasant to be around, and there is plenty of seating to go around. The staff is very friendly, and promptly brings your food to where you are sitting while you set up shop at your table of choice. They regularly patrol the area, removing empty dishes and mugs as you finish them off. Music selection is relaxed, and not so loud as to be overbearing. The volume level is perfect. With an impressive variety of breads, pastries, drinks, and other treats, this place has a little bit of something for everyone. The prices are modest, and the food doesnt make you feel guilty after eating it. Did I mention that it is delicious? Because it is. Give this place a go, and I promise that you wont regret it.

YESSSSS, BLOOM BAKERY. I was so excited to try this place, a great bakery with a great mission- & a great addition to downtown! Have I used the word "great" enough? OK, great. They have a limited amount of pastries to choose from - its not some giant, sprawling place - but everything they do have looks like pure art. It all looks borderline fake, like its a photograph in some rustic furniture magazine, or something, set atop a handmade burnished oak dining room table or something. Does that make sense? ITS ALL GORGEOUS-LOOKING, Luckily, it all seems to taste just as good. On my first trip, I bought a plain croissant, two molasses cookies, & a savory scone (cant remember what was in it, but definitely sun-dried tomatoes & some sort of cheese). I tried them all over the next 48 hours, & even not-quite-fresh-anymore, they were delicious. The molasses cookies are chewy & rich; the croissant was flaky & decadent; the scone was salty & soft, everything bursting with flavor. 10/10 would eat every single pastry again. Looking forward to my next visit!

I only came here for a Yelp Elite event. The event was poorly run and did not showcase the main items of the bakery, the bread. I even requested a sample of the bread but none were forthcoming. So, they showcased the breakfast sandwich which would compare to a bad Egg McMuffin. And, the muffin itself was spongy and tasteless. I applaud the concept of the bakery and I applaud the mission. They hire people who need a leg up in life to help them get back into the main stream. I just wish the event had allowed us to sample what they are baking daily. If I am back in the area, I will return on my own to sample the bread to give them a fair chance for a valid review.

This place was worth the walk from the Flats, where I work. After ordering the vegan sandwich, I was told that they were out of red peppers (one of the main ingredients). No big deal - I came in close to 1pm and it seemed like they had been pretty busy. Luckily Im not vegan, so I switched to the tuna salad sandwich and it was delicious. I wasnt sure what a scotch mist roll was, but I ordered it on that and have no regrets - it was amazing! Got a triple chocolate brownie to eat as a snack later today, but it looks so good it might be hard to wait. I will definitely be back here and recommend this place to others.

The baked goods are good, however, after going there twice early in the morning, during the week, they did not have a few items on the breakfast menu. It wasnt the case of running out (as it was 7:45am), but that they just didnt carry the items for an undisclosed reason. Also, for going at an earlier time in the morning, the trays of baked goods did seem to be picked over already. Wasnt "wow-ed" over my past two experiences.

Fantastic! Friendly, small and local. Delicious food. As a Brit living abroad it was great to see so many options that reminded me of home: from coronation chicken (never seen that in the US!) to sausage rolls to Bakewell tarts. Yum. Great addition that I was able to purchase a pastry order for a future date for the office right then and there. Great service.

Ive bought nummy munchables for the office 3 times now, and its ALWAYS been a huge hit! Today it was 3 different kinds of croissants - plain, almond, and (heaven on earth!) chocolate!! By this afternoon, there wasnt so much as a molecule left. Blooms goodies are truly wonderful!! I hope this place thrives and prospers!!

Bloom Bakery is everything I wanted it to be! It offers coffee, unique sandwiches, and small pastries and cakes. The food is delicious and just the right portions. The atmosphere is lovely with tables, a couch, and a faux fireplace. I will definitely be coming back!

I came here for the coffee, but stayed for the baked goods! Great pastries and desserts, pretty good coffee. I love the employment philosophy of this place, too - it is part of why they get my business! Check their website for details.

The pastries are to-die for. Each week they have a new donut of the week which is always good to try. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful when choosing from the many great options. This is my new Saturday morning place to go!

I cant speak for the food, but I was hoping the coffee would be on par with new craft coffee offerings (Which would be a nice change from the Starbucks next door). Thats unfortunately not the case. 3 stars in the java department.

Little tricky parking situation but their coffee is really good and they work with towards employment which is a positive thing so I like to try to support them.
