Hinode serves the best sushi Ive yet had in Rockland. The fish always tastes excellent. The portions are ample. They serve all the standard sushi rolls and pieces, sashimi platters, and rolls of their own design, as well as a variety of tasty Japanese entrees. Their menu boasts a number of vegan/vegetarian rolls and entrees. They will take requests for changes to their rolls as well. The decor is simply and tastefully done in blonde woods. The lighting is neither overly dark (like a bar) or overly bright (like a McDonalds). Its a happy medium. The staff are friendly and observant but not intrusive. Its a great place to take a date or a group of friends. Also, they pay attention to their regulars. If you go there often, they may treat you to a few complimentary pieces of some new roll of the sushi chefs creation. Last time I was there, they treated us to thin strips of banana and apple wrapped in a slice of avocado and fried tempura-style. It may sounds weird, but it was delicious!

The place was dirty as I entered. I only cared to use the restroom. Granted it is for customers only. So I purchased something small and light. After using the utilities. The manager went into the restroom to inspect. I didnt pay much mind to that. But after paying $4.+ for something that cost $2 everywhere else. I got upset. Even more upsetting after I had to throw the pastry away from being so watery. Thanks for your hospitality Hinode!

I was on my way to a dinner when I stopped here to use the bathroom. The sign said customers only so I ordered a Godzilla roll. There must have been fifteen people working on this role for 20 minutes when my girlfriend burst in. She was sure I had either had a heart attack in the rest room or the place was being robbed. Anyway - we got the roll to go and it was pretty awesome.

Very, very good sushi, and easily the best in the area. If you are picking up, they give you a free hand roll while you wait (something decent). Service is excellent. Only complaint is that, for the type of place this is, portions are a little on the small side. So order a lot lol.

Every time I visit Hinode restaurant, the food is delicious and fresh. The service is courteous, friendly and fast. The restaurant is clean and quaint. Every one should visit Hinode at least once. This is the BEST Japanese restaurant!

It is a small restaurant. but the times that I have been there, the staff was always friendly and pleasant. I am a vegetarian and yes, they do serve a lot of items on the menu for vegetarians. The price isnt absurd either.

Very good and clean. Nice hosts. Free samples from time to time. Somewhat expensive. Well worth it. Outside doesnt look like much, but the food was amazing. Id go back, if they accepted AMEX.
