Came here the other day for lunch for 2 people. It wasnt very busy at all so seating was not an issue. They had a special, which was half sandwich + choice of fries, soup, or salad. We got the BBQ Brisket and Roast Brisket. Both tasted great but I preferred the BBQ Brisket more. I felt like it was more well seasoned and more flavorful. The Roast brisket had some flavor but it was on the drier side. I dont remember the bread they used but it was lightly toasted and despite being toasted, it did not "cut" the roof of my mouth (which some hard breads do). The meats were tender and not chewy at all. The coleslaw that came with the dish was excellent as well. Wasnt drenched in "vegetable water" and wasnt too "vinegry". Presentation wise, the Roast Brisket was definitely more colorful and appeared to have been plated better. The salad was good. Ingredients were fresh and dressing wasnt too oily. The other side we got was cream of mushroom. Really thick soup. It was pretty much mushroom puree. I had no issues with it but I could see some people do. Since its mushrooms, not very colorful either. The staff was friendly and attentive. Overall I would come back here again to try some of their other sandwiches. This is a solid place and I bet their food is consistent.

So let me start off by saying Im not sure and cant speak for others but I have had nothing but great experiences at this place. Extremely friendly staff and the owner is a sweetheart who seems to really love what she does and every time Ive been there she has taken her time to come say hi, so as far as customer service goes they are definitely on point. Now lets talk food, Im not sure if anyone knows but this place has the absolute best soup you will ever have (sorry grandma) they are hearty delicious soups that taste like home made soup made with lots of love ;-). Delicious salads, sandwiches and oh boy do they have a great brunch menu, to address someones comment about healthy dishes they do have them and the choice is yours of what you want to eat. Again this has been my personal experience and I give this place an A+ and definitely recommend everyone to at the very least try them out, keep up the great work guys as at the moment you guys are my favorite place top eat at Astoria!!!

I was visiting a friend when I decided stop for a sandwich, so "The sandwich Bar" seems the place for that, when I come in one lady says, "excuse me, are you looking for someone?" In a weird tone, in what I respond "sorry Im just looking for a sandwich", they hand me an iPad and I choose a tuna sandwich just thinking that question was weird and I maybe I was taking it bad, but then a white couple come into the place and the same lady ask then: "how can I help you?". Not only this before they ordered the sandwich they handed me the bill. It was crazy, this place is kind of racist and I dont know how, because they are in ditmars! Astoria. I dont look like thug or smell bad and I speak properly. They just racist people they looked at me saw I was Latin and treat me that way. And I pay and left a tip. Im disgusted.

I really had VERY high expectations for a place that has been in existence for years; heck, its a landmark for tourists and NY-ers alike! And, it was also featured on Gossip Girl! However, this was not my only motive for finally booking here to try during restaurant week. For some ironic reason, every time I actually went a tentatively booked the place, something would come up and I would have to cancel. I should have taken it as a sign that I should be "russian" to another place for the Russian foodie experience. Yes, the place was beautifully decorated and totally ornate, but that dont impress me much.

This place is good but not 5 stars. They have a good meatball sandwich, good presses and yummy Greek Fries with Feta and Oregano. The problem is that the chicken that they use in several of their items on the menu has a rubbery texture even though its cooked. They should invest in better chicken before serving to the public. Stay away from the chicken and you should be good.

Great, friendly place! Both waiters we had were very friendly and knowledgeable. Their food is great and they have interesting specials. Their cocktails are also very tasty, creative, and well-balanced. They also have a generous happy hour every day, which is usual and a huge plus. I cant believe I havent been here before!

Ppl are very friendly and extremely outgoing, willing to extend that helping hand. Love, love, love this venue and their food and drinks are on another planet. They offer a variety of salads for healthy conscious ppl. They are the modern day mom and pop store, makes you feel right at home.

The service is always great and they have a really fun trivia night that moves quickly. Good food and drink specials. Could use some healthier options as most of the sandwiches are on the greasier side. Delicious, but just something to keep in mind.

Once I had a wrap and the other time a pressed sandwich. The place is small but cozy. I enjoyed myself both times I ate here. This place not close to where I live but the next time I am in Astoria I would definitely make a point to stop in.

Good food, good prices. I usually have the brisket and I have never been disappointed. I have tried other things as well but I always go back to the brisket. Very nice pressed sandwiches. Generous portions. Try the sliders!!

We have always had the best service. Janet and Stewart stand out...but that isnt to say that the rest of the staff is not great. Food is yummy. We always have a great time. Thank you all.
