I tried the lunch buffet. Good- idli was soft and tasty. dosai was crispy. chutney was good too. gulab Jamun - it was good and spongy Not good - i am from karnataka and tamil nadu... so i have savored most of the traditional dishes right from childhood.... Bisibele bath, puliogare - there was no taste. it wasnt traditional or authentic about it. the flavors were just not there. i have eaten much tastier these traditional dishes.. Bele payasa... oh man! the chef forgot to put sweet in this traditional sweet.. very disappointing since i was so looking forward to having this dessert.. the dal wasnt smashed properly too and it was like dal tadka ... biriyani- it was nothing but rice with some colors and meat.. no flavor, no spices... waiter - even before we were done eating gave us the check and went away. we had not even gone for dessert.. my kid was still eating her meal...called him back to order for order...not even once did any of the waiters came to check on us (just me and my daughter).. i saw them going to other tables to check.. :( Tea - i ordered masala tea.. very tasty.. but i had to wait 15 minutes to get it.. i had to remind them twice.. too long a wait for one tea space can be used much better..requires reorganizing.. very congested... not easy to walk around to serve by ourselves... not worth the price.. pricey for the not authentic and not traditional food served here.. service and ambience is not good.. i can get better food in Arusuvai which is very authentic and more varieties, with better service and ambience for just $2 more...

Went here in a big group for Fathers Day brunch. Food was pretty decent but due to the crowd, seating was limited and our party was divided into four tables. Everything was going smoothly until it was time for the bill, we requested that they give us separate checks since we had about eight families. The person at the billing counter told us our request was "ridiculous" and walked away in a huff. We then proceeded to speak to the owner of the restaurant who told us that they couldnt provide us with separate checks because we were all seated together. I am pretty sure that a party of about 25 people being seated at four different tables does not qualify as being seated together. The most disappointing moment of this experience, was when the owner started to raise his voice at our party in front of his entire clientele. Hate to break it to you, but that is not professional practice. If separate checks is not part of your restaurants policy, you should have it clearly written somewhere. Treating your customers with disrespect is never the solution. This is the last time we will come back here.

If you are craving South Indian Food, specifically from the state of Karnataka, this would be your best option in the area. Being from this neck of the woods, I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food tastes and how close it came to actually eating at a restaurant in India. The flavors were spot on and the fact that we had the choice of two biryanis - Shrimp and Chicken, just made my day! South India is known for its breakfast items - dosa, idli, vada, etc. and Hoysala pays homage to that. I was ecstatic to find Bisi Bele Baath here with along with the aforementioned breakfast items - something that you would only find in a true South Indian joint! For about $14, I was more than happy with the food choices, and cant really complain. Ive paid a lot more for a lot less - quality and quantity wise. The items are frequently replenished, so it always tasted fresh and scrumptious. If youre still unsure, check out the place yourself - you will not be disappointed!

A south Indian friend told me to check out this place, and boy was he right. I love south Indian food and eat out frequently. I have also eaten at some great Karnataka restaurants in Bangalore, and this Hoysala reminded me of the great food in Bangalore. We decided not to go with the dinner buffet and instead ordered some vegatarian classic dishes with dosas and akki roti on the side. Everything was fabulous. The kids opted for the buffet and I took a taste of everything on their plate, and it was also all fantastic. I saw several other interesting items (like Ragi Mudde, a delicious peasant food from Karnataka) on the menu that I would like to try in future. Highly recommended. I am going back even though it is a half hour drive from my house.

They serve veg/non-veg both options. Had Sat lunch buffet. I am vegetarian so can only comment on vegetarian food. Too expensive for food. Decor is below average (too much used tables/chair. no table cloth). For buffet many other restaurant serve fresh/hot nan/roti on the table, but they only have option of nan on buffet table which was cold and like chewing gum. SInce they are serving south indian style food, their subzis are like south indian style and if you expect north-indian style then it would be disappointment. To be fair to them, I would say if you expect noth indian style food then it will not be here. Overall it is expensive in price, and below average quality.

Great Buffet Experience. Good Wide Spread of Buffet. Tasty food. They have Dosas, Idlis, Bisi Bele Baat, Chicken Biryani, Andhra Pappu, etc for buffet. Honest Management. Excellent Service - Even though the Dosas and Naans are on the buffet section, as soon as fresh ones are out, the servers run from table to table serving it generously. Deserts are better than many other restaurants. No compromise on the quality. Nice Music and Decor, Extremely clean and I never had to wait for anything to be served. Very Prompt. Tip: When going for the buffet, avoid naan and go for Dosas instead. you will be pleasantly satisfied.

I would be happy to give them more stars if it was there!! A restaurant I would totally recommend for traditional South Indian Menu especially the Karnataka Specialities. Amazingly delicious food!! we had a lunch buffet here and noticed that unlike other restaurants, the servers kept bringing only hot fresh food to the buffet table for people to eat. Everyone of the items on the menu were deliciously good including the dessert menu. The servers promptly cleared the plates from the table once we leave for getting more food. The restaurant is very clean too.

The taste of the food is excellent, no doubt at all.... Entries Idly, Vaada / Dosas (3 types UTTAPPAM, RAVVA, Plain) and Nan to all the non-veg dishes, simply amazing! Less Veg items and more Non-Veg Items. After finished the dinner buffet, paid the bill and come out with their menu list. Was really surprised after saw the price of Dinner buffet, the guys charged me more what they mentioned in the menu. After I talked with restaurant manager, he explained that they are still distributing the old menu. Other than this confusion I will rate this 5 stars.
