I would like to say that I had a nice experience at Ralphs "restaurant" for my Mothers repass, but unfortunately I did not. If I could give ZERO stars I would. I will start by saying that the head server was not qualified to handle an event of this size. In addition to openly mocking her bus staff with racists epithets, she was rude and ill informed. Prior to the repass, I dealt with the reastaurants party booker over the phone who told me that she understood that guaranteeing a number for an event like a repass was pretty much impossible. I asked her pointedly if I would be charged if I did not get the number right and she said no. The night of my Mothers wake, I stopped at the restaurant to adjust the number and reiterated that I could not give an exact value just a range (my range was 40-50 guests including kids). The day of the repass, the restaurant was set for at least 60. This made the layout awkward and crowded with chairs we did not need. My final number was 34 adults and 4 kids. I was presented with a bill for 50 adults and 4 kids. Almost a 50% markup from my actual number. When I disputed this the server told me that since I had said 50, they had cooked for 50 and I had to be charge me this amount. I was already overwhelmed with grief and was then forced to squabble with the server. She kept bringing me into the dishwashing room (how professional!) to "discuss" the bill and their policies, which were the opposite of what I had been told. I was told by the booker and then the restaurant manager that there was nothing they could do for me. I ended up paying the whole amount simply because I did not have the energy to argue with any more of their inept staff. Ralphs succeeded in making the worst day of my life, even worse. I will tell every single person I know about this awful experience. As for the food, its standard Italian. Nothing fancy or creative. The pizza at Ritaccos (also in Nutley) is better as is the service. Do not book a party here or eat at the restaurant unless you enjoy being overchared and treated unprofessionally. AVOID!

I Have to come back and do a 2nd review on Ralphs after having my first sit down dinner there. Let me start by saying the pizza can range from great to not so great depending on the day it seems. I have got a couple take-out pizzas that were slightly burnt there. If its not burnt the pizza is good and has a great crust. Now lets talk about the food... I went out to dinner there Saturday night with my girlfriend, she wanted to take me out and asked me to pick a place, so we went to ralphs for dinner. The server kept calling us "kids" all night.... I am 33 my girlfriend is 32.... I found it to be slightly insulting and passive–aggressive anyways beyond that the dinning room was cramped the server never asked if my girlfriend was ok.... the calamari was like rubber bands and my ziti was not baked ziti... more like melted cheese on penne. My girlfriend said her salmon was ok. I dont know why after my girlfriend gave them the visa card to pay she came back and try to hand me the bill... I was a server once & its common knowldge today that you simply put the bill on the table when you are done, you do not assume anything. Anyways if you like fine Italian dinning and understand it, this is not the place... do yourself a favor and go to Regina Margherita its in Nutley and it blows this place out of the water... and if you are in NY go to Pepolino, both are amazing. If you want a good slice of medium crust pizza go here, but thats about all.

The atmosphere is nice, but there are a few critical problems. The first is that they dont take credit cards over the phone, so you must have cash in order to get delivery. The second is the lack of care. I ordered a pizza, and I had to pick it up since I didnt have cash. When I arrived I was greeted by the most dissatisfied employee I ever met. She didnt crack a smile or give off any type of warmness. Then when I finally got home and opened the box I found that the pizza was burnt to a crisp. The fact that a "great pizza" place can even send out a pizza like that appalls me. I will give them 2 more tries, and we will see if my first pizza was a fluke. ****************************************************** Update ****************************************************** My fiancee and I tried this place again, and unfortunately we were unable to get past the pizzeria portion of the restaurant to the main dining area (note: there is also a tavern in the back of the building). I entered with the memory of the burnt pizza in mind, and I was looking around to figure out how to get into the main area when I noticed the pies that were being used to serve the people looking for single slices. I noticed that they were all burnt in the same manner that I described in my first post. That said, we quickly turned around and left.

I have been going to Ralphs for decades and their pizza is great as well as all of the other menu items I have ever had. NOTE to Dan, they DO NOT deliver at all so you were sadly mistaken by thinking they wouldnt deliver your food if you werent paying cash. They dont need to deliver because people who are not lazy will go out of their way to get their and pickup their food, this is how good it is. I have never gotten a burnt pizza, their pizza is different from the norm around here and can be compared to Star or Sun Tavern or other bar type pies. Its original and extremely tasty, so if you feel like not the same ole same ole pizza, go here its fantastic! You may find it as a refreshing change and it is reasonably priced.

I used to go to Elementary School around the corner from this place. Once a week, Id walk down for lunch and have a slice and a soda. I live thousands of miles from here now, but whenever Im back in town, I stop in. They recognize me there, ask about how things are, and you know what? The pizza really is every bit as good as I remember, every time. :9 It doesnt need any toppings, I think. I dont know what it is about the sauce, but its just perfect. A little thicker than a New York style slice. People sometimes love it, and for others its just not their slice. Give it a try, and see where you fall!

Sitting here on mothers day with my daughter, mother, and grandmother sipping our byob mimosas and enjoying the delicious food. I am so full! This place is amazing with their portions and the quality is spectacular. The staff is friendly and professional. Would definately recommend for a family dinner or a romantic date.

The pizza here seems controversial but its my personal favorite. People expecting a typical slice may be disappointed, as the crust is thicker and crispier and the overall taste is tangier than the usual fare. Try the fresh mozzarella and basil also. The various pastas are delicious as well.
