I am a visitor from Dallas and just ate at Sabor on Webb at the Waterfront for the first time with a coworker. Salvadorian and Latin American food are some of my favorites, but I was very disappointed in Sabor. We got there at about 8pm on a Wednesday night and had pretty bad service. After being seated by the hostess, we could see all the waitstaff hanging out by the bar talking with each other, and a couple waiters were sitting there eating. They completly ignored the fact that we were sitting there. It took about 5 minutes before our waitress came over. She finally came over and said "Sorry... You guys ready to order?" without even looking at us, or greeting us or anything. She hadnt even taken a drink order. We asked what was good, and she pointed to the left side of the menu, ran her finger down it, and said "people like all this, but Ive never tried any of the night food, I only work during lunch normally..." She kinda got an attitude when we looked at her weird and said "We have never been here, we dont really know what to order." She kinda looked around, like she had something way better to do than recommend anything to us. I would have really appreciated an appetizer recommendation at this point, too. The person i was eating with got the Currasco beef. The beef was way too salty, and i normally eat really salty food. The cheddar chipotle mashed potatoes were good. I got the fish tacos, and they tasted horrible. They fish must have been old, becasue it was soft, super-fishy, and really greasy. Like Long-John-Silvers. They also overloaded the tacos with overly thick slices of purple onions, which still didnt drown out the flavor of the not-so-fresh fish. The desert was ok in terms of composition and flavor, but the execution was way sloppy. I got the spiced chocolate cake which would have been better if it werent so cold. My coworker got the tres leches cake. I could tell the desserts were cut and put on a plate at some point earlier (maybe days earlier?), and then put in a refrigerator and pulled out right before they served it to us. They squirted some canned whip cream on the plate and plopped a canned candied cherry in the whip cream. Sloppy and cheap. The caramel sauce drizzled on my chocolate cake was the only part of the desert that was close to room tempeture, and it was just dristracting. We could still see the staff chillen at the bar when we left, and it left an unprofessional impression. I will not go back. Poor service, bad fish, rude waitresses, and food made without care. yuck

Though our server was great and the food was good, I witnessed inexcusable behavior of another server and dealt with an unqualified and complacent manager. We were seated right beside the kitchen, which I was facing and could see everything occurring. I noticed the table behind us had a waitress that had a bad cough. I watched this waitress cough openly in the kitchen without covering her mouth, cough directly on food she was holding, and every time she walked by our table she coughed openly without covering her mouth. When she did cover her mouth she did not wash or sanitize her hands. She coughed on an entire stack of clean plates and bowls. And coughed openly every time she walked through the kitchen. I understand having to work even if you are not well, but it was so disrespectful to every person in the restaurant to not manage her symptoms and take something to suppress her cough- the least she could have done was cough into her elbow. I did not enjoy the experience because I had to watch villigently to ensure she didnt get near our food or cough openly when our food was sitting on the counter. Our server was great and quick to grab our food right when it was ready (we did not have time to go somewhere else to eat as we were going to a concert after so if she had coughed on my food I would have left hungry). We asked to speak with the manager and she just listened and said Im sorry youre upset, theres nothing I can do. She talked to the coughing server and the coughing stopped which made me wonder why the server hadnt controlled her coughing if she clearly was able. Our server was great and the food was good, but Ill never go back thanks to their practices and the complacent management.

We decided to try Sabor to see if they had that authentic cuisine and of course we were disappointed that it wasnt. We walked into the establishment and we just stood there and looked around since nobody would seat us, we saw that the employees were hanging out at the bar. So we were finally seated by the most unpleasant waitress, which was one that was at the bar eating and not attending to us. We order the Churrasco and the Cuban and both were pretty good, a bit over priced but they were OK. We then decided to order desert (which we rarely do) I ordered the Churos with caramel and chocolate dipping sauce, and let me tell you I seriously laughed!! These are the exact same ones I buy at SAMS club and they come in a 24 count box! The caramel sauce was seriously rotten, fermented something??!! I told the waitress and all she said was "yeah well that could possibly be since we make it ahead a day or so" (are you kidding me?!) She didnt even have the chefs in the back check it or replace it NOTHING! My husband ordered the Tres leches and it was far from authentic and the piece of cake was seriously swimming in about an inch of milk. So Im done venting about this crappy place and I will be to never stray away from my favorite true AUTHENTIC restaurant USULUTECO 1714 E NORTHERN St. I wasted over 40$ on horrible service and on a wanna be Latin restaurant. I love USULUTECO and nobody in Wichita will EVER compare! Oh and if you ask the waitress how something is she will down talk some of their dishes! If anyone watches those shows like Restaurant Stakeout you know what I mean!

I have to be honest I was not expecting to like the food as much as I did. Thank you Yelp for helping me find this amazing restaurant. Try the queso dip appetizer and coconut shrimp. BOMB! Drinks? BOMB! They really put a lot of flavor into the food. And its a variety of Latin food too going from Central American to Caribbean. So you have a ton of options. Service was amazing, we didnt wait long for anything. Ambience was nice too, in particular the music which helps make a Latin restaurant Latin. Im so proud of how much Wichita has changed over the years, I used to dread visiting family there because I could never find anything fun to do or good food to eat. But now I know where I want my dinner from next time I visit. This place is close to the museums downtown so if youre making a day out of it be sure to eat at Sabor! It gets my official Puerto Rican foodie stamp of approval!

Went in 40 minutes before close. Friendly and informative wait staff. Was not rushed to place order or leave after eating. We were there past closing time and encouraged to order dessert. A handful of parties were lingering when we left. Nice languid atmosphere. Had a platter for two with chicken, sausage, pork, and steak. Everything cooked exactly as we requested. The chimichurri and mole was also very good. Asparagus was rave worthy. Two of us couldnt eat it all in one sitting. Had the rest of steak for breakfast, pork for dinner the next day, and chicken for dinner the day after that. We ate for three days for $43 not including tip. Also, Pamela (our server), you are the bomb.
