RUDE, RUDE, RUDE...will never go back. Waited a year to write this and Im still upset. After eating in and paying my bill at the counter I asked the woman at the register if I could get a take out container. She grabbed one of the paper cartoons and tossed it my way. I asked nicely if I could get one of the Styrofoam containers as I had a couple of items left and didnt want to mix them up. She turned her back on me and muttered "i have go in the back and walked off and left me standing there. I wasnt sure if she wanted me to wait or what. I eventually walked back to my table and my wife asked "ready to go" and I said I think Im waiting on her to bring me a container. after a few minutes the same young woman came out from the back and started wiping down tables with her back intentionally toward us. I waited a couple more minutes and then walked over to her figuring shed forgotten and asked politely again if I could get a container and she snapped I HAVE TO GO IN THE BACK!!! Every person in the restaurant turned and looked. She eventually came back and quickly dropped of container without saying word . NEVER PATRONIZE THIS HELL HOLE. There is no excuse to employ someone like that. NASTY NASTY NASTY. I will never trust this place again and neither should you.

This is THE best Chinese food in the Des Moines area. Im surprised its only getting 4 stars at the moment because everyone that I know adores this place. Im originally from Madrid and its not unusual to see someone from my home town every time I go there. The phones are always ringing (for take out) and its always busy. The staff is incredibly nice. The food is ALWAYS fresh. I looooove it. The sesame chicken, orange chicken, and chick w/broccoli are my favorites. The hot and sour soup is very sweet, I like it a lot! The eggrolls and crab rangoons are awesome too. There isnt anything I dont like about this place. My fiance has Celiac and eats Gluten free all the time. He gets the orange chicken with fried rice and never has a problem. The prices are GREAT. We get the lunch special- soup, eggroll or crab rangoon, rice, and an entree for 4.95. No, that was not a typo- 4.95!!! These people could easily be charging more for this quality of food but they dont which makes me love them even more and keeps me coming back.

I love it. I have celiac disease and have to eat a very managed diet. Once, because I loved it so much, I was willing to give in and eat here and suffer the consequences. The food was amazing as usual AND NO SYMPTOMS!! I cant guarantee their food is gluten free dont use this as a guide to go, I also didnt eat the crab rangoon or egg roll. My stomach is either willing to overlook the wheat that might be in this food or they amazingly cook without it! Either way its at least a monthly stop for me even though I live 30 miles away. Great prices, amazing food, fantastic wait staff. Anyone who doesnt give this place a 4 or 5 either needs a lobotomy or recently had one.

We prefer takeout only... the atmosphere and staff are less superior than the food. We also tend to only get the lunch specials because you CAN NOT beat the price for the amount and quality of food. Soup, rice, entree, crab rangoon or egg roll (which are HEAVENLY!) for around $5.00. Our favorites are the General Tsos Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken/Pork/Shrimp, Lo Mein Noodles. And again, worth a second mention... those egg rolls. Wow. :)

Fortune Garden in Grimes has excellent Chinese food. My husband and I tried it for the first time this weekend but were unimpressed with the service as it was very slow. It looked like they do a lot of takeout orders, and there was only one waitress trying to serve the whole restaurant. The food was great, so as long as we arent in a hurry, well definitely be back! And get an order of crab rangoons...they were delicious.

This is our familys favorite place to eat. Whenever our children come home from other states, the first thing they want to do is go to Fortune Garden. We all love it and have never been disappointed. We especially love the crab rangoons and often take an order home. None of the kids have been able to find an oriental restaurant they like as much anywhere else.

Dont know how the other guy below me could rate this place so bad. When I have been coming here for years and have tried a variety of dishes. They are definitely a cut above the rest and I always come back home to eat here. If u want spicy general tsos you have to request it that way, because most people dont know it is supposed to be a thick spicy sauce.

My most favorite restaurant around here! One order of meal can easily divided into two as their servings are oversized. Best crab rangoons anywhere. Appreciates their egg roll that comes with main dish. We keep their menu on shelf with phone books for easy reference. Their dining room is uncluttered and bright which is a plus for me.

Poor cusrimer service and owner VERY rude. They got my order wrong and they refused to fix it. Will NEVER GO BACK. If you like getting charged for something you did NOT get and then yelled at about it, you will like this place. Shame on Fortune Grarden. They are rooks and will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.

My 7 year old son loves the Egg Rolls, my 14 year old son loves the Crab Rangoon & I love the Sweet & Sour Pork. Everything is fresh & cooked to order. I have been eating & ordering out at this place for over 12 years & have never had a bad experience. I would say they are the best in the State of Iowa for what they do.

I love this place, this is simply the best Chinese. I could eat it everyday, not to mention prices are extremely reasonable. The only downfall is its small, so they kinda struggle with larger groups. The family that runs it is very polite.

Rangoon and orange chicken is amazing. Really good sweet/sour sauce.Had a couple other dinners that were more just ok. Fair price. Not going to be my go to Chinese place but Id definitely go again for sure.

Food has great flavor. Love the egg rolls. This is a family favorite. Almost always get it to go and our orders are right. They can be pretty busy at lunch time so I recommend calling ahead.

Best chinese in Grimes maybe all of the Des Moines area. Wish I could throw up a sixth star. Only downfall no delivery and take out lines get pretty crazy.

Great staff and great food. This is a staple for our family especially when we dont feel good as no where beats their Hot and Sour Soup.
