There are a number of Mexican restaurants in Dubuque, but this venue is the clear winner. The restaurant is very clean and inviting. I cannot remember the exact name of the item we ordered, but it was essentially like a hamburger (perhaps Chorizo) mixed with cheddar cheese and jalapeños. I normally do not order items like this at a Mexican restaurant, but the owner (who came out and talked to us for quite some time) mentioned that it was the special of the day (only $5.99). The flavor of the food was incredible. My only minor suggestion is that I would like to have “regular” salsa as an appetizer instead of Pico de Gallo, but that is just my preference. I will definitely come back here on my next trip to Dubuque—the owner definitely has the food business “figured out.” Also, I strongly prefer supporting local business owners over large corporate restaurants. Between this restaurant and the Corner Grill (Greek food), I don’t anticipate frequenting many other restaurants in Dubuque, as I think I found the best spots in town! Highly recommended.

My husband and I are always looking for high quality food joints and we have a major love for Mexican style food. This place has just blown us away each time. The owner is a real treat to interact with as you can tell he just loves to entertain and educate clientele about the food he serves. Today we went in and were pleasantly surprised to hear about some of the more exotic food choices being served including: rabbit, gator, duck, and cow tongue. We ordered an entree with rabbit and were just shocked at how amazingly it melded with the flavors and the meat quality was superb. We even saved room for dessert and ordered a round of flan- oh my goodness what a great choice- so creamy and decadent! We loved everything from the moment we came until the moment we left! This is definitely a hidden gem of Dubuque.

Being from Chicago, I quickly became disappointed with a majority of restaurants in Dubuque, especially Mexican. I have tried a burrito from every single Mexican joint in Dubuque except Mi Ranchito, until last night that is. Although they forgot a part of my order( side of beans), the burrito was absolutely incredible. I appreciated the variety of vegetables that were stuffed within this beautiful creation. Usually, most joints in Dubuque only give you peppers and onions, however Mi Ranchitos vegetable burrito had peppers, onions, mushrooms, asparagus, and even pinto beans! I was super shocked with not only the quality, but the great taste!!!!

Lackluster at best. Expensive for the quality and portion size. Both salsas supplied with the chips were nearly flavorless and either hot or hotter. Tough "steak" in the fajitas, making them messy to eat wrapped in bland, fragile corn (flour not being an option) tortillas. A handful of chopped cilantro is a poor substitute for actual "seasoning". Beans straight out of a can; and room temperature as well. Make another choice from the several other restaurants within a stones throw of this underwhelming place for your next meal.

7 of us stopped in on a bike ride tonight right before closing, we didnt notice that they were about to close. We were welcomed in with open arms and treated extremely well!!! The owners came out and talked, joked and laughed with us. It was a very good meal, a great atmosphere and a damn good time. I would recommend this to you if your looking for a great authentic Mexican dinner... and what ever you do dont ever...never... order a Corona there!!!! Thank you guys!!!

To be honest the food was horrible, prices were terribly outrageous. In my years of customer service experience I must say that I was displeased. The waitress which we had was rude, crude, making racial slurs towards me (hispanic), my friend (Palestinian) including to my friend (African American). When I tried to confront the owner about the situation he laughed and shrugged it off. Would never recommend eating at this establishment.

Live an hour and a half away from dubuque and came up with my Dad, brothers, sis n law and our kids (11 of us total) to stay at the Grand Harbor Resort for the weekend. We found this place online and decided to give it a try and we all loved it! Probably the best mexican food Ive had! And the owner was super friendly and so was the staff! The food was delicious! This will definitely be our stop everytime we are in town!

Probably the best tacos in town: Two corn tortillas by default and flavorful. My date had seafood tacos and also thought they were good. Very friendly and accommodating service staff. Nicely decorated including a few vintage mexican kitchen implements. Clean. The food could have come out a bit sooner, but it was acceptable. Overall a great mexican restaurant. I will be going out of my way to visit again.

Ok, so the food is great. Easily some of the best guacamole Ive ever had. What really set this place apart is the owner. He takes the orders and explains the menu and what makes his dishes unique. Not only is he a great cook, hes an efficient salesman. He could have probably sold me spaghetti if he wanted to. It was refreshing to see someone take so much pride in what they do. HIGHLY recommend this place.

By far the best Mexican food I have tasted in the Midwest. I love the staff and owner. They are always so friendly. If you want to eat dinner without friendly interruptions, excellent food, and service this isnt the place for you. But if you do want friendly conversation, tasty food, and wonderful service this is the ideal place for you. The owner treats you like family. I would suggest this to anyone.

Great, authentic Mexican food! They make everything fresh, including their desserts and warm fruit punch (which may sound strange, but trust me, its absolutely amazing... especially during the winter)! The service (more often than not provided by the owner himself) is above par and personal, I feel like a special guest every time I go there :) I love it, and you can tell he loves sharing his food too!

Hands down my favorite restaurant! I had never thought of myself as a Mexican food fiend, but after my boy friend showed me Mi Ranchito I became addicted. They have the friendliest staff with the best service. The owner makes the BEST drinks and phenomenal food. I always have awesome and fun experiences when I go there. Would recommend to anyone craving homemade Mexican food

DO NOT GO HERE. Disgusting service and owner. He made a horrible margarita and I barely took a sip. I gave it back to my waitress and the owner started yelling when we asked to have it taken off the bill. We paid for a gross drink that was given right back for being disgusting. Grossly over priced and horrible service.

Dont let the size of this place fool you! Small, with only a dozen or so tables. But very friendly, the owner will come out and talk to you about your food, or the day. Wonderful real Mexican food! The burritos are like we had when we lived in Chicago - they should be large and delicious! Loved the Mole too!

I really enjoy Albert, the owner. But this place seriously puts cilantro in everything, and if you dont like it, it is hard to avoid. The food is more expensive than other similar places. Parking is always a problem if its busy. But everybody is nice and its good to see a small local place doing well.
