Super cool, chill place. I unfortunately couldnt test out many items due to the milk options but I tried an espresso and a hot coffee. The espresso was to bold for me and I am an espresso lover. But this is high quality espresso! Rich carmel-ly, strong, bold, smooth and slightly smokey flavor. If you enjoy a strong bold coffee you will probably love this espresso, it is an experience! The coffee was also pretty bold. It was a smooth low acidity rich flavor coffee, once again not my choice in daily coffee but I did drink most of it. The quality is something you cant find in many places! As a barista at a competitor I was overjoyed with the passion for coffee you can see here. It reminded me why I chose to take my current job. After many years of working with coffee I wanted to feel that love of coffee again, it fell flat at my current job, but River City Roasters reminded me of my love for coffee. They are truly a one of a kind place. Great staff, great coffee, awesome chill vibe and cool atmosphere. What more could you want?! This is definitely not the run in and out type of coffee place as care is put into each handcrafted drink, but if you are in it just for a brewed coffee it would be a quick in and out (if parking and traffic alllows).

I walked up and thought the outside of the coffee shop was cute with the tables out in front giving customers the opportunity to sit either inside or out. Entering the cafe I went in the afternoon around 3:00 oclock and there were a lot of younger teenagers in the coffee shop than I was expecting to be in there. However I made my way to the counter to inspect the menu and I made the choice of a Hot Hazelnut Latte and when it was given to me by the barista there was an adorable coffee art. Which honestly after my stressful day made my day a lot better. The hazelnut flavor was in attendance but it wasnt overpowering which was great. I always thought good cafes only existed in downtown Chicago but it is nice to now know that I can get that result out in the suburbs as well.

Simply put, River City is the best espresso Ive had in Chicagoland. There are some good roasters in Chicago, but the Ethiopian Limu bean River City often uses for its espresso is still number one in my mind (other beans here are good too!). Moreover, I have always received top-notch service, with several instances where employees have taken it upon themselves to go out of their way to help me out (such as a free cup of coffee after a harmless mixup). Everyone has their own preferences on space, but I love the design inside River City as well. I just wish there was a location in the city I could access more often!

Ive been to many coffee shops around that country many that roast their own and I cannot express my appreciation enough that RCR opened up in my community. They make dynamite lattes all very rich and the espresso is perfectly balanced, for a real treat try the "Grass fed Lattes" and for something sweet the beer caramel will definitive satisfy you. All in all pretty thrilled to see RCR doing so well now and Wheaton/ Glen Ellyn starting to develop a coffee culture. RCR if you read this please bring back the Monkey Bread! Loved that stuff.

First time in this place. Had the chai latte tea with grass fed milk. BEST I EVER HAD!! Nice to see a non-chain coffee shop packed. I can see why. Excellent service, nice people and amazing, high quality, delicious drinks. My sister-in-law had the hot chocolate and it was equally amazing. Wonderful flavors, natural, not covered up with loads of sugar like most places. Im surprised Starbucks is still open across the street. Cannot compare to River City Roasters!

Even though this shop is out of my way, I love getting drinks from River City Roasters! I personally dont like heavily roasted coffee and theirs is roasted enough to have a calm flavor. My favorite drink is actually the chai tea latte— you can taste both the spices, the tea, AND the soothing froth! My only drawback is that the high chairs arent particularly comfortable. However, if you usually do not dine in cafes, this shouldnt even be a problem.

I love the style of this place first of all, and the atmosphere is chill and relaxing. I can sit there and really concentrate on schooling and work. I thoroughly enjoy their coffee, when I usually am more a a tea person. This is my favorite coffee shop right now and you should defiantly check it out! (Also kind of random thing, their music selection is wonderful and they play it quiet enough so I can hear it and still concentrate)

RCR is a great place to go for high-quality coffee with a modern-art sort of vibe; unfortunately the price and the lack of quality seating makes the place hit-or-miss for conservative coffee drinkers. I love some of the art, but I was unimpressed with the layout of the coffeehouse and prohibited from buying more than regular coffee due to the price.

Surprising, hip cafe with a vibrant customer base. Coffee is high quality and prepared with care. The counter gives a urban feel which differentiates the space from other cafes in the area. Beer and wine are also served after 2pm. From what I have seen, the beer selection is local, usually with something from Dry City.

I weep for the Starbucks zombies who consume over-roasted beans en masse. So refreshing to be in a privately owned, local coffee shop with such a great following. Steady traffic & great music all create a wonderful vibe/atmosphere. I had a pour over which was excellent. Super friendly & knowledgeable staff. Im a fan.

For a craft coffee shop, it had decent coffee. I didnt get an espresso drink, just a pour over, but it was well made. Prices are what youd expect at this kind of establishment $3-4 pour over. The location has a good amount of seating, free wifi, and some outlets scattered around. Quiet atmosphere, but not dead.

Great coffee and team. Theyre just getting started in Wheaton, and Im sure working through some kinks as a result, but the folks are coming in and enjoying the coffee and community atmosphere. I have casual business meetings in the coffee house often. Looking forward to seeing RCR grow in downtown Wheaton!

Ordered Capuchino, the art was great but coffee had too much milk. The first sip tasted good and intense and you would expect to have the same intensity all the way through your drink, but when you finish drinking coffee crema, intensity and coffee taste disappears and you will only feel taste of the milk.

Dont understand all the hype about this place. I have tried it twice and got the same lousy attitude and poor service. Just not impressed. And they dont know what a dry cappuccino is and then serve it in a crappy paper cup. Just because you put a little heart on top does not make everything else good.

Im really surprised at all the rave reviews about the coffee here. I love the atmosphere here and its a great place to hang out with a friend, or get some work done, but the coffee is not so great. They may just need a nice dark or French roast for the folks that like to drink a cup of black coffee.
