I have eaten at Salsa 17 many, many times and the food and service were excellent. However, my last two visits the service was subpar. I was dining with a friend in January and we had to flag our waiter down several times to order drinks, food and get the check. The couples sitting around us did not have to flag down the waiter to get service. I spoke with the manager that evening about the poor service. He assured me it had nothing to do with the fact we were two females. Then, in March of this year my husband and I went to have lunch at Salsa 17. We had to ask for our drinks to be refilled and for chips to be placed on our table. Then, to make the dining experience worst, two males arrived ten minutes after us and had the same waiter, had chips and water at their table immediately and their food before us. I am one of their rewards customer and have several hundred points on their program, however I am leery about dining there again. People dine out for the service and Salsa 17 has been off in this area.

DITTO WITH "KATRINA COOK" !! , but for different reasons. Very disappointed frequent diners. Cold food completely destroyed nice tasting preparations. Chicken tougher than shoe leather. Our waitress was the only one in the place to wait tables, answer the phone and tend bar. Service went downhill fast. Someone needs to kick the owner in the "a_ _" . A great place formerly but I am having my doubts. Especially in view of the fact that most of their prices are on the high side. We definitely didnt get what we paid for. If the owner had been there I would have sent everything back. If you go, asK for hot, freshly prepared food, and then maybe you will have a nice experience.

would "take care" of the matter upon my next visit. I decided to call the next day, but the girl I spoke with was not there. Instead I spoke with a man that was completely disinterested in my complaint and seemed to want to rush me off the phone, even when I asked why I was charged more for a meal on Thursday and I did not get what I had ordered, than for the exact same meal I had ordered on Tuesday and received exactly what I had asked for. His only response was "you can come and pick up the rice and chips". No thanks, I wont be going there anymore where even small concerns from regular customers are brushed aside. Poor way to do business in this economy.

Nice looking place and friendly. I came in during my lunch hour and place an order to go. I order from the lunch menu Enchiladas de Mariscos. However, when I arrived to work which it only took me 5 minutes my food was cold and when I mean cold, I mean cold. I felt that the food was prepare an advance and place into the refrigerator then into the microwave to warm up. The side of my Enchiladas was warm but when you cut in the middle it was cold, the same as the rice and beans, it was cold. Which is sad because the preparation was destroy.

Went to this restaurant on a Saturday night. Margaritas tasted like drinking pure tequila. We also had the calamari which was disappointing. The calamari we got was mixed with overly fried pieces and under fried pieces. We went at 10 at night so the restaurant was not very crowded and it still took an hour to get our main courses. The steak tacos were good but the steak fajitas were over cooked and tough. We did like the overall ambiance of the restaurant but were definitely let down after reading good reviews of the food.

I very much enjoyed eating here! It was a little hard to find (Im horrible with directions) but the amount of time I spent trying to find it was well worth it. I got lost and Jessica (awesome lady) stayed on the phone and made sure we found the restaurant! The salsa and chips were very fresh and the table side FRESH guacamole was the stuff of dreams! The food was authentic and the presentation was phenomenal. And the service? Never have I felt more welcomed. I cant wait to return to Salsa 17!

This place has all of the classic Mexican dishes plus some unique and different takes on items. Outdoor seating available in front and in the alley between the building next door. We went on a Wed, and service was lacking. Sat for about 10 minutes without a server greeting us or taking drink orders. Had to go to the hostess to ask for a server. Table made guacamole is delicious, but with one cart serving the restaurant, there is a long wait after you order.

I liked the salsa and ceviche, however, the steak fajitas and tacos are inferior to other places. My biggest issue was the $ 8.95 charge after they sang happy birthday and gave us a sombrero. Most places give you a free cake for a birthday celebration, not a bill for almost 9 bucks. That extra charge at the end of the night was alarming. Your better off going to Javiers down the street where the food is much more authentic and better.

Over-priced. Pretentious. Booked a party of 11 over a week in advance for NYE, they even called the night of the reservation to verify. Showed up 10 minutes before the res, unapologetically made us wait over 45 minutes. Walked out. Will never go back under any circumstances. By the by, Javiers nearby was sympathetic to what happened and sat us immediately. Better food, prices, and environment.

My husband and I went here on the advice of a friend and were SUPER happy. Fresh guacamole and ceviche were out of this world and we were both very pleased with the margaritas. The frozen margaritas are in thick glasses that keep them nice and slushy til the very end. They surprised me with a sombrero and tres leches cake for my birthday (I even got to keep the hat!) We will definitely be back :)

I just had the Ensalada Margarita with grilled shrimp and it was probably the best salad Ive had in years. Wonderful combination of greens with shrimp, tomatoes, sliced avocado, orange slices, a Mexican cheese which was very firm and an orange based vinegarette. I would HIGHLY recommend it. Their salsa doesnt suck either.

Brought relatives from Italy here when they visited, came here for Cinco de Mayo, as well as multiple nights for dinner - love this place! Sitting outside in the ally makes you forget youre in a suburb in Illinois. Such a fun place with great staff and a fun atmosphere. Most importantly, the food is excellent as well!

I grew up in SoCal and Arizona, so I know and love my Mexican food! I would describe myself as a "Salsa Connoisseur" and Salsa 17 has some of the BEST SALSA I can think of! We often order extra tubs of it to go whenever we dine here. They really should consider selling it regionally in grocery stores. So damn good!
