Horrible experience all around!! We drove all the way from Stafford Springs to go to the beach. Decided we were hungry and stopped here since it was nearby. WORST DECISION EVER. First off, we had one member in our group who was underage (20 y/o) and we had to talk to the manager to have alcohol on the table and even that, the underage friend had to sit on a separate table! Im sure its because the manager has been burned before but that just seems stupid. Second, the waitress had absolutely no clue what she was doing! She kept asking questions that would be obvious to anyone like if we wanted cocktail sauce with our shrimp cocktail. It took 45 mins to get our food which was all simple fried appetizers! It does not take that long to make that food when you only have two other customers solely drinking at the bar!! When our food finally came, our friend who ordered the shrimp cocktail got shrimp scampi which obviously was returned. The waitress came back with the actual shrimp cocktail 15 minutes later to discover that there was only ONE LONELY SHRIMP ON THE PLATE!!! What place gives you shrimp cocktail with one shrimp??!!! We were obviously surprised, talked to the manager, again and ultimately rejected the poor excuse of a shrimp cocktail. You are right next the beach, how is it possible to serve one dinky shrimp for $4?!!! We are so done with this place. The waitress gave us attitude the whole time, the manager treated us like crap and the food and drinks were below mediocre. We will never return and no one should ever try this place again. Surprised they even have more than one star here.

My husband and I decided to give this place a shot. Boasts its the oldest bar and grill in the area..and unfortunately it kinda looked like it. They had one of the longest menus Ive seen at a restaurant in quite some time. It was a Friday night and I guess they had open mic night and the singer practically butchered every song. I think my ears were actually bleeding. We tried the fried mushroom appatizer (pretty good) at least they were not the pre battered cisco type.. Next we both had steaks. I had the 16oz prime rib and my husband had the 16oz Ribeye. His had way more flavor, corn on the cob was over cooked and the baked potatoes were well, how can you mess up baked potatoes. All in all.. NOT GOING BACK AGAIN.. On a side note, our server was very nice, polite and checked back often. Also had 2 Angry Orchard draft beers. Cold and crisp.. Grand total: $63.58

I frequented this bar for the kareoke....until one night I was with a friend stopped in for 1 drink and a bite to eat...walked out to car started it and waited for my friend to pay bill. All of the sudden I see the bartender approaching my vehicle I roll down the window and she in a very aggressive voice said she was going to call the police on me if I left the parking lot. I was speechless for a good minute and asked her what she was talking about she said if you pull out of this parking lot Im calling the police youre either going to get an Uber or Im calling. being that I am at least 20 years her senior and knew that I only had one drink and was perfectly fine I proceeded to close my window, left and never went back. Very bad business as now I have about four friends that refuse to go there in fear of something like that happening to them.

We went to have a nice dinner last night. Reserved a table for nine people. After ordering we waited for our dinner for an hour and a half. 2 from our table left. The meals were brought out one person at a time and 3 out of 9 got their meal. The waitress was very nice. The owner came over and was asking me what the problem was. I told him. He said ....well, what do you want....do you want me to buy you a car? He was VERY OBNOXIOUS! WE WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN! So went home after 9:00 and had a bowl of cereal. NEVER GO TO DINNER AT LYME TAVERN. I now know now why Ive heard it referred to as SLIME TAVERN.

The food is meh at best. The atmosphere smells and the place is dirty. The service is poor. Most times when they are "busy" you can wait in excess of 30 minutes for service. Why??? Ive been to sports bars that were 3x as busy and you were taken care of right away. If you arent a known local, goodluck. I would pass on this place. They cant even figure out what their name is.. they should have thrown in a pub, cafe, take-out, drive-through and dinner.. just to be safe.

Bouncers were incredibly rude. Came to tell us it was last call which apparently means you can order a drink but have to leave in five minutes. The bar closes at 2:00 AM. The bouncer promplty explained to us that 1:40 AM was 1:58 "his time". I wont be going back to this bar. I understand that people want to go home on a Friday night but thats no reason to be rude and unprofessional.

Very underrated food at quite reasonable prices. Soups can be very good, making you feel like you should have ordered a second bowl. TVs are everywhere, with unusual sports given more than a passing nod. A happy hour starts roughly at a bit before 5 pm with pasta, pizza and other noshes.

The food portions are a good size and the food was okay. Service was a little slow and spotty to check with us after we got our food. Not the cleanest of places but been to worse. Prices were about average for the area. All in all an okay experience.

Two out of the three times Ive been here for breakfast, Ive had to leave after being ignored for 15+ minutes. The third time I got served, only because the bus boy recognized me as an old friend. Not sure what the secret to getting served here is.

Always a Great Time at The Tavern!! Live Acoustic Music on Fri & Sat Night!! Great Staff and Love the location!! Much better than the Bank St. New London Scene...if ya know what I mean... 5 Stars in My Book!!

Holy. Slow. Unreal how inattentive the bar tender is. Sits and charts with her friends about local gossip. Still waiting for my order, 20 minutes and the place isnt busy at all.

Tried it for breakfast, never got past sitting and waiting. Sat for 10 minutes without any recognition at all. Ended up walking out. Went to Shack and left happy and full.

Old main stay. The Tavern has been around for ever, if youre going to complain, go somewhere else. The food is good, and the place is a towney main stay. A+
