My wife and I have been going to Country Cow for over 20 years. We grew up in Fairfield, and both remember the days of sneaking out of school for a sandwich from Country Cow. We moved to Florida a few years ago, and of course Country Cow was on our list of go to places on our visit. The first time we went on our visit everything was great. We went again two days later and our order was wrong. We were staying 20 min. away so my wife called and we got a credit for our meal. Two days later was when the problem started. I went to go pick up our breakfast and the older lady, whom Im assuming is the owner decided to start arguing with me. She blamed me for the order being wrong, stating that I did not state my entire order when I picked it up. This is funny for a few reasons, the first being that I did state my entire order. Next, because I did not even pick up my order from her. Lastly, because the Hispanic lady who is always very nice, read the entire order to me when she rang me up. She always reads the order, and she did read the correct order. Either way the other lady was an embarrassment to Country Cow and is the reason we will never be going again. If there werent other customers there, the situation would have played out much differently, buy unlike her I have more respect than that. I cant even comprehend the amount of people that go to Country Cow because of people like my wife and I. Growing up, we always made sure everyone we knew got their breakfast from Country Cow.

Ill start off by saying that their breakfast sandwiches are PHENOMENAL. Thats the only reason why I keep going back. The cash only thing is a nuisance but what really gets me is the customer service. I go occasionally but not often enough to be considered a regular and I definitely notice the difference in treatment among customers. This morning I called ahead for my order and waited at the register to pick up my food. The cashier completely disregarded me when I began to speak and took the order of the guy behind me! (He walked in the store after me) The guy was clearly a regular since the cashier knew him by name. Even the man whose order he took asked if he was going to take care of me. If the sandwich wasnt so good and I hadnt left the house early just to get it, I would have walked out. Im not expecting for anyone to kiss my butt or even make small talk but i DO expect to be acknowledged as a paying customer when I am clearly the next person in line. *I originally posted on Yelp but Im so annoyed that Ive decided to post on Google Plus too.*

People eat Country Cow Deli breakfast sandwiches like they are the last twinkie on the shelf theyre so good, but dont look past their deli offerings at lunch time. My favorite is the half turkey on a hard roll with three-pepper colby cheese, extra lettuce, tomato and some mayo. Order ahead so you dont have to wait (there is always a line) but dont leave your name. They dont want it. You just give them your order description when you arrive. This is one of those fun local places where they have a way things are done, and you have to learn! You can always tell the newbies, but soon enough, they will have it down too - because theyll be back. Its a bit free-for-all, and sometimes you have to try to find your place in the cue since its small, but as the saying goes, big things come in small packages.

Gross. First time visit. I literally watched 3 employees in a line making my food bare handed without gloves. I ordered a breakfast sandwich. The icing on the cake... I went to the register to pay for my sandwich and coffee and watched another employee/owner with no gloves grab a paper towel, BLOW HIS NOSE IN IT, throw it out, and then proceed to put a coffee filter in the machine for the next pot of coffee. He didnt even flinch as I watched him do this, must be a deeply ingrained habit. Thanks for the germ infested coffee, will never be back.

The Cow is like the Grateful Dead, they are not the best at what they do, they are the ONLY ones who do what they do. From theirSteak, Sausage, Ham or Bacon, Eggs & Cheeses that tastes like nobody elses, to the size. quality, and freshness of their grinders. Theres a reason they are #1 all around town, ask anybody or any Fairfield Prep student. Everyone knows & loves the Cow.

The list of sandwiches isnt doing the place any favors as its very unassuming. Meaning, youre not sure what youre getting because it doesnt appear jazzed up. Their infamous for their bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches. A long line of hungover college kids will be there Friday-Sun. Their homemade macaroni salad is really good and their turkey club is pretty awesome too.

I grew up in the area and I really struggle to find another deli that serves up an egg sandwich thats comparable to the Country Cow. Fast and friendly service makes this a go to morning stop whenever Im in town.
