Save your cures for the rose colored glasses I was under in my first 2-3 visits. Rereading my initial review, which may have been long, but was highly accurate in description. Ive changed my opinion and in an unprecedented update dropped a star. Im usually very good judge of things initially, but also a man of 2nd and 3rd chances too. Its a tough task to improve on a sandwich so widespread and popular as the bahn mi and I understand that, but a near $10 version. Like I said before all their sandwiches are on the small side, so I was fully expecting amazing pork. I smoke my pork low and slow and have made many different styles of pulled pork, so I can tell the consistency of the fibers is good, but what in the world kind of sauce are they using, it was like a hoisin based BBQ sauce that ended up tasting like beef sloppy joe mix without the vinegar. Mint, cilantro and the most odd thing was the pickled carrots and daikon raddish was a swing and a miss. For a company that makes so good house pickles to miss this by so much on pickled carrots and daikon was unexpected. No pate, no butter, no jalapenos, blah pickled carrots, a small French roll and slop meat with a forgettable sauce. Looked like a philly cheesesteak got burned.I can get a traditional bahn mi for und $3 which better tasting pork, real baguette, properly done carrots, and all the fixings at 2 dozen places up the freeway. Their beer and wine list is still on point and they do trivia, still great for HH. They offer ketchup chips which even though is a Canadian thing is something people like once they try it. Service is still good and prices are still expensive. I also recently tried the BELT (bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato) on rye. Bread was moist, but didnt stand up to the egg yolk, bacon was crispy, but obviously not enough of it (you gotta hide it under the lettuce so it doesnt fall out as bad). Egg was cooked perfectly. Mufalletta is a classic interpretation, but what I never liked mixing the rich capicolla with the pungent and strong salami and the creamy mortadella and Id prefer artichoke hearts to the olives. Ciabatta, aioli, meh. Next Im just gonna have them build my own, just gotta see what ingredients they have. The yuzu vinaigrette with the smoked salmon sandwich is a real gem that many places dont take advantage of the ultra potent yuzu. The caprese to me could do better on a sourdough, especially with the lemongrass pesto. I know they are known for their brisket, pork belly and porchetta, but each of the sandwiches could use just a hair more refinement and some of them a lot. Instead of improving as theyve been open and impressing me more and more each time, theyve done the opposite which is stay stagnant. This was as good as theyll get. I know a 1 star re-alignment may not seem like much, but they had so much promise and potential and Im usually very accurate and part of this is I came here 3 times before I reviewed it initially and 3 times more to make this update. If Playground is too gastro and Chapter one is too yuppie and with Crosby now closed I would come here for drinks and trivia, but not food. La via en rose.

C4 Deli has it all. Awesome craft beer bar in DTSA. Personally I am a craft beer enthusiast and I appreciate the tap list constantly changing, giving the crowd a variety flavors each week. At first I wasnt aware of what this place had to offer, but after coming here with friends, talking with the staff, and ordering the delicious sandwiches off the menu; I simply fell in love with this place. There is always something going on here. Whether its watching the big games on their flat screens, enjoying a sausage meal on Mondays to brunch on the weekends, C4 keeps the crowd entertained with all their weekly specials. I have had the pleasure of having well-rounded conversations with the staff; Jose, Mike and James. As corny as it sounds, C4 is like a second home. You are greeted upon walking into the deli and if you have any questions; the staff will take you through the menu. The food is simply amazing! Some of my favorite dishes are the famous Reuben, Pork Belly, and BBQ Brisket. I also had the cheesecake dessert during Trivia Tuesday and wow, rich texture and hit the spot. Combining the friendly staff, excellent beer selection, and delicious food will keep me coming back. Love, love, love C4 Deli.

Good beer selection and Jose at the bar knows his stuff! Sandwiches are pretty good and pickles are amazing! I dont even like pickles! There also a bottle shop so if your looking for a few good bottles to take home they have cheaper to go pricing.
