As a second gen. Korean, trust me when I tell you Im a carnivore. Yes, I love meat! There are many other places nowadays where they serve all-you-can-eat-for-$20 or something like that. They may sound like a good deal. But those places always have some kind of turn out like- you have to finish the plate, or something as worse as really cheap and low-quality meat. (I had tried it once, and never ever will trust those deals again. I dont want to torture myself.) My family and I have been a loyal customer to Buga for many years for several reasons: 1) Very good quality product (They never fail us.) 2) A lot of options 3) Nice service 4) The real Korean style that is almost the same as I received before when I visited the motherland. 5) The grill, the side dishes, and everything else are as I expect from a Korean bbq place. Yes, the price is a bit more costly than other places, but it is definitely worth it, considering the quality of the product. It is not a place to go very often (like weekly) for its cost, but once we want to dine out, we enjoy it to the fullest. Tips: -Dont be shy to ask the waiters/waitresses for more side dishes or for any other assistance/help. Its not a big deal if they have a hard time noticing every single customers side dishes when the restaurant is busy. Just ask. -Take advantage of the special packages (A, B, or C). They may seem very pricey, but overall, they are a better deal if your party includes more than 2 people. I hope this review was helpful to you! Enjoy!! :)

Came here on a weeknight with my wife and parents to celebrate a reunion of sorts and our night was essentially ruined by our experience at this restaurant. We are asian and used to sub par service and generally dont expect to be treated like kings or anything, but all of us were surprised by how rude and cold the service was here. Everyone from the person at the door to our waitress to the douche waiter guy who placed our bill on the table midway through our meal - all were rude. The meat itself was only ok. Weve been to much better korean BBQ. the side dishes they give are weak, they dont refill. The lettuce they give is also weak. My parents come here because they dont know any better and because its close to their house, but I felt ashamed for my parents after leaving this place. I have asked them not to come back and will be informing all of my friends not to give this place any business. Terrible service, mediocre food.

Around the first of October my daughter and I visited San Diego. Next door to our motel was the Buga Korean BBQ. Having recently been watching K-dramas this year I was fascinated by the characters who would often eat at their local BBQ. This was our very first experience at a Korean BBQ. We walked over, and didnt have to wait long to be escorted to our table. Im glad we went early because the restaurant filled up pretty fast. We explained that this was a first for us and so our waitress graciously made a few suggestions that would give us a wide experience. She answered every question we had as she cooked the meat for us. It was a fantastic experience and I can honestly say that there was not a scrap of food left except a little piece of onion when we were done. Our favorite parts? Ambiance, excellent friendly service and of course, wonderful smells and delicious food. Thank you!!!

You pay $$$$ for the meal and get a $ service and food. The service is worse than horrible, the waitress tries to persuade you to have your food cooked at the kitchen so that she doesnt have to serve, the food comes out for a while, you sit and wait and finally have to ask for the rice and it takes a while for the rice to get to your table, the waitress doesnt have a clue about cleanliness, cook food should not be handled by dirty tong but she does it in front of you as thought you wasnt there, she ignores you if you try to ask her question. The price for dinner is 25.99 each person, you will get very little condiment and forget about asking for more because you will have to sit and wait for about 5 minutes to get the attention of the waitress.

My husband and I went for dinner and bought a bottle of wine that we could not finish. When we were about to leave, they told us that we couldnt take the unfinished wine with us. We told them that according to California Vehicle Law 23225 the opened bottle can be legally stored in the trunk. They kept fighting us on it and said they would have to call the police if we took the bottle out of the restaurant. We said that we paid a lot of money for the wine, and that they could give us the money back for half of the bottle, since they did not let us take it with us, but they said they could not do that either. Needless to say, we wont be coming back there.

You know a place is good when you are the only white guy in the place. If Koreans frequent this place then you know it must be authentic and great. Not so sure what everybody is complaining about. Maybe a competing restaurant is jealous. Lol! Bimbibap is fantastic but I think they only serve it for lunch. Prepare to pay a little extra for the experience of cooking your own meal but it is worth it. The servers are good but they seem to rush you through the meal so do not get offended, maybe it is a cultural thing. Get the Shabu Shabu thin sliced beef and extra Kim Chi.

The portions are underwhelming for what you pay for. Youre better off going to a restaurant that offers unlimited meat of a kind than this restaurants variety lunch plate. Our original server did not act too seriously for what her job was, despite there being only 4 customers at the time. She did not bring up the option of water or our additional order. The quality of food was great though. TL;DR If youre left with this place, sure.

I dropped in, out of the blue, looking for just some place with a salad, and ended up getting the Grilled Mackerel. Oh it was so flippen awesome that I want to eat the picture I took of it with my Droid phone. This place is 100% Korean; from the staff, to virtually all of the patrons. The service was very friendly, and I believe that what I ordered was worth every penny. A++++ in my book!! :-)

Neither the service nor the food was what I expected for the price. The service wasnt very prompt, after waiting 10 minutes for someone to fill me water glass, I put my empty water glass on the partial wall between the tables so they would notice it was empty, no one ever filled it, I had to stop someone. The sides are better than the meat. I think the meat was less than choice quality.
