We have been going there for 25 years. The chips and salsa are unbeatable. No one makes better carnitas - very little fat and very tasty. All of the dishes are excellent - tacos, enchiladas, rellenos, fajitas. You name it and they make it well. Excellent service 98% of the time. If you want really tasty mexican food, eat at Don Joses in Claremont. When you go, tell Justo the manager that "El Professor" sent you. For a really good deal, buy the gift cards in November or December. Buy $100 and you get a $20 gift card free. We buy enough to last an entire year. Its like getting a 20% discount on your food there.

Food was not good. Service was horrible and the margaritas were too sweet, and very weak. Plus you dont want to use a credit card there because they double charged on the sly. We had to file a claim with our bank, so if you go there, pay with cash for your protection. I used to enjoy a Margarita untill the bar tender (the tall one, not the short one) decided to steal $20.00 from my credit card. I guess he felt he deserved a bigger tip, he didnt. When we contacted a manager Raul, he said he was unable to fix the double charge because he was not familiar with the system. BS!

Over all not really authentic food, I agree with the other reviews all canned and microwaved tasting.. the beans were oldish looking and the rice was no better than pollo loco. The problem was the prices.! Very expensive for microwaved and canned food. I got the 18 dollar carne Asada plate, the meat was not to bad but the rice and beans were not that great. Fair warning! Probably not the best place to spend 80 dollars on 2 adults meals and 2 kids meals with 3 alcoholic drinks.!

My family loves Don Jose, generationally! My Parents took my sister and ,I I took my kids and they of course have taken their kids. I actually got married there and everyone who attended said it was one of the best weddings because the food was good, great atmosphere and good drinks! Recently I took my dad who is 91 and my grandson who is 13 and after the chips and salsa arrived my grandson said "it is just weird how good the salsa is here".

Not even 1 star! Booked this for a 40th B.D. with DJ. When we arrives they had over booked for another B.D. the other party had brought their own d.j. decorations and flowers. Our party with 35 people sat in the back. We were like uninvited guests. The manager did nothing to rectify this!!! Terrible experience!!! And the food was terrible.

My son took the day off to spend with me and we went to Don Joses for a early dinner. Happy Hour margaritas, beer and wine specials $3.00 from 3pm to 6pm and the great tasting food made for a wonderful early dinner. Have been coming here for many years and is always the very best in quality both in food and service!

My first time here was awful !!! Food taste like canned food NOT real mexican food!! They gave me the wrong tacos twice and the meat was nasty no taste at all!! Plus to top it off the service was bad I waited like 20 mins for a refill and prices aint worth it at all!! :/ This place is noooo bueno!!!

I went with a large group. It was my Idea, everyone wanted to go to another spot. The food was not as good as I heard it was, It was disapointing. The service was bad, really bad. The Margaritas were weak, and really sweet. I should have listened to my group. I will not be returning.

The food is gross and way overpriced....the service is just simply ok....not great or good by any means. They tried rushing us to get out the door. When I go out to pay for a meal of like to relax enjoy the ambiance and my food. This place is terrible.

Food is super disgusting!!!! Order Enchiladas Rancheras because I was craving so bad but never ever again. The rice was nasty, Pollo Locos rice is better lmao.... Never ever again I wish I could get my money back!!!! BTW the hostess was a total idiot!!!

Waitress said plate was hot, but the food was cold. No flavor in the beans or rice. Waitress have no skills either at serving. Was there on a Wednesday at 6:30pm. Med to low crowd. Prices high for quality of food. $11.50-$19.50 add salad $3.00

Go for the margaritas and if need a place which will serve 40. But dont go for the food. Very greasy fajitas and refried beans which have the consistency and flavor of glue. So if you drink enough, you wont care.

Food was very substandard. Tough meat with very bland taste. My Daughter and I ate about 20% of the main order. Best part was the chips and salsa, and PAYING the check. Went to In @ Out.
